Great! This is a family business, and Dotty the mom came out first to do the estimate. She was very fun and personable, very knowledgeable, gave us some good advice and a good estimate. We were like old friends by the end of her visit. Shortly after the estimate, Larry, the son, and one other guy (apologies, can't remember his name, but he was equally awesome) came out to do the job. Larry geared up and hopped up into that huge fir like it was nothing, and started "surgery" on my tree. It's a real pleasure to watch someone who is exceptional at what they do, and I learned quite a bit about how to trim trees. He was concerned about the outcome and stopped several times to make sure I liked how things were looking. All the while the ground guy helped, trimming or getting equipment, offering opinions about how thngs were looking, or doing whatever needed to be done. They were an excellent team. I wish that I had had them cut and chip the limbs while they were there, because some of those limbs were tree size-I will easily have a cord of wood after I get them all cut and split into firewood! They did the huge fir and 3 pine trees in one day. It looks outstanding, opened up our view to Mt Hood and brought in so much more light to the yard. A few days later, Larry and his son brought in their stump grinder and took care of that huge thing in short order. All in all, this is a fantastic, family-owned and operated outfit, and lucky me, only live about 3 miles from my house! I would not hesitate to hire them again, and in fact, have already picked out the next jobs for them!

Larry wasn't sure when he gave us the estimate how soon they could schedule us, but the quote was really great, so we were willing to wait a few weeks. However, some other customers could not schedule in before Labor Day, so we were offered the 28th. We were delighted to accept. Larry and his assistant arrived on time, cleared some branches and bushes so they could get their truck and chipper in close. Then Larry started up the first trunk, sawing branches as he went. He was careful to ensure they dropped safely on the empty driveway. His assistant fed them into the chipper quickly so that they didn't pile up. After the branches were off, Larry started cutting the trunk into sections and carefully dropping them down. So the first trunk went down fairly rapidly and easy. However, the second trunk was a problem child. The top 40 feet came down without problems, but then Larry ran into the top of an ant nest. He said, "It was like a volcano; the ants just exploded out it!" He had to change tactics for the last 20 feet. They looped a rope around the top of the trunk, and Larry felled it so it dropped away from the house. Very neat job. But oh! the ants! Larry had his assistant get the leaf blower and blow wherever Larry cut into the trunk. Just standing within 8 feet of the tree was enough to get ants crawling up legs. Ugh. Larry & his assistant stuck to the job, got the wood sawed, and the mess cleaned up. That corner of the yard is a lot neater than it was now. The original price we were quoted was $850; we got a senior discount of 10%, which brought the price down to $765. It was a great deal. Strongly recommend Sylvan Tree Service to others.

We've used Sylvan before and would ALWAYS choose them first for our tree trimming needs. Besides being punctual, professional, and friendly, they are very knowledgeable and will take the time to answer any questions that we have. But what sets them apart is their concern for the health of the trees. They don't cut for the sake of cutting or to bill. The result for us has always been 100% satisfaction. Can't recommend them highly enough

I'd highly recommend Sylvan Tree Service. Larry has been to work on our property three times ~ he's hard working and an honest person. We had trees cut on our 20 acre slope to open up our expansive valley view. Great work.

All went well. Organized, on time, good and pleasant workers. Have used them before, was recommended to them by a friend and now a couple of my neighbors also use them after asking about my experiences with them.

We have worked with Sylvan for years and they have always done a wonderful job. All of the work was done by Larry - the man who fears no heights...and his helper. The work was preformed with care to the grass below as well as the surounding shubbery. It is dangerous work, but they took all necessary safety precautions, for themselves and the surrounding areas.

He did a beautiful job pruning & saving that tree. He's done all our tree work for years & I'll never use anyone else! Larry & Dottie have been wonderful.

The job went great, I called on Saturday and they came out that afternoon and gave me estimate. We set up the job for the next Tuesday at 9am, they were on time and got right to work. After the tree was down they cut and stacked the wood and cleaned the whole area. I will be calling them again if I need any more work done.

Awesome job. Work was above and beyond expectations ~ thank you! Work was slightly higher than the original estimate due to having more than double the trees cut down from the original estimation. (Original estimate was $325 for 6-7 alder, $75 was added for the additional 6-7 alder). This was agreed upon beforehand. Thus...it was right on for me and very reasonable. Again, thank you. What a great company! My husband and I were truly thrilled! Very affordable for the work performed we had expected double the bill! Courteous, polite, hard workers! They were great with the neighbors. It was a hot day and they worked about 5-6 hours steady. I would definitely use this company again, my neighbors said they will be calling for their services soon also!

I THINK THEY TRIMMED MORE, AND TOOK MORE OUT THAN I THOUGHT. I GUESS THEY DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO, BUT I THOUGHT THEY DID TOO MUCH TRIMMING. THEY SAID LIGHT TRIMMING WHEN THEY TOOK THE JOB, BUT I THOUGHT THEY TRIMMED TOO MUCH, OR MORE THAN I HAD ANTICIPATED.
