Description of Work: They said they would call and then did not respond to emails and never called.

Description of Work: The wife interviewer a number of landscape designers for redoing her 40" by 20' side/back yard and a front yard flower bed. She had a substantial but limited budget and she needed to fine someone she was simpatico with and could stay within her financial constraints. After being turned down by her first choice because she was not spending enough, she noted a local yard that she liked and found out that Second Nature had done the work. After a couple of prelim meetings, the wife decided she had found her landscaper. | |The design work and cost estimating process began in April and after a number of meetings at our house, agreement on the final was reached in July. In order to minimize the chances of unsuccessful plantings, it was agreed to begin the work in the fall after milder weather set in. | |The work, consisted of relocating existing sprinkler lines, adding a stone walk to the side yard, and replacing most (but not all) of the existing plantings with the emphasis on drought tolerant and minimal maintenance. |

Description of Work: The owner, Karla, designed a landscaping plan for my backyard. We started with pretty much a blank slate. The goal was to get rid of the thin and spotty grass trying to grow beneath a huge 100 yr old english walnut tree. We ended with a new fence, hardscaping that came in the form of a stone circle patio, an enclosed garbage area to hide away the contatiners yet in a useable space, and planting areas with a winding path in between. She secured bids from landscaping companies to complete the work and generated a computer representation of the overall plan. She also supplied a plant list, one that would work growing under the walnut tree, and a map for the beds. She was on time, professional, creative and full of resources. It is a couple of years later and my back yard is a haven year round. I spent $13,000 on bringing the plan to fruition using a landscaping company and about $800-1000 for design services.

Description of Work: Designed landscaping for back, side and front yards as well as a pergola for the back. Found contractors for new patio and pergola and rock wall. Worked with me around what kinds of plant material I liked that would be reasonably low maintenance. Carefully moved existing plants and trees to better locations. Completely changed the look of my yard. Has also provided maintenance as needed.

Description of Work: I hired Karla with Second Nature to perform some general clean up in my rather small side yard. She removed dead and not-so-healthy plant materials from my side bed and mulched it making them look much better. She pruned my tree so that more light would come through. She then helped me organize a plan for my newly cleaned planting beds for plants that would be low to no maintenance and with low water needs. My small sickly patch of lawn was removed and she got the space ready for shrubs and ground covers instead.

Description of Work: Did full landscape design for front and back yard (10,000 sq ft lot) for me to work on over time. I contracted another company for sprinkler system, removing sod, and bringing in lots of soil. Planted the three main trees and one side of the yard. A few years later, contracted Second Nature to get remaining plants and I finished planting the back yard.

The space had many challenges and we had some specific desires (including a water feature, tiered raised beds for vegetables and a patio with seating for six plus people). Karla listened to our ideas and produced a wonderful plan. Karla was very easy to work with. She listened well and produced a creative design that will make our backyard look great.

Description of Work: June 2006: I needed a landscape design for the backyards and front area of a duplex rental.

Description of Work: We asked Karla to sit down with us to discuss our ideas for redoing our entire backyard. Our plans included a water feature, a large variety of plants and shrubs, new hardscapes and an assortment of changes that could enhance our existing features. Karla offered to do plans only, the labor of a completed plan only or both. We asked her to design the plans only, as we were hoping to save money by doing the majority of the work ourselves. We paid Karla 1/3 at the start of the agreement, 1/3 after she had come out to take measurements and draw up preliminary plans using the information we had discussed with her, and the last 1/3 when she delivered the final plans. Not only did she present us with a final plan, but we had a close-in of the water feature and a file folder filled with information about all of the recommended plants, including quantity, pot size, light and fertilizer needs, pruning and characteristics. It was fantastic, to say the least!
