Description of Work: I had dry rot in my bathroom behind and underneath the toilet and bathtub. The original bid for the dry rot included the suggestion of creating a crawl space access so they would have access to properly unhook the tub drain assembly. Currently the HOA hasn't provided any outside crawl space access so I agreed to this and also asked James if he could give me an additional bid for replacing the tub surround. I had a tile surround and wanted to replace it with a solid surface one. James came back with a very reasonable bid for both the crawl space access installation and the tub surround. James had other projects in the works but was willing to work around them to get my bathroom in working order. That was huge! On Friday the 12th of October, James began work with Josh and John. They removed all rotten wood and replaced lumber. The next day I met James and Josh at Home Depot where they got supplies and helped me pick out a tub surround. Then they put up the drywall and the backing for the tub surround. The next day was Sunday, so they returned on Monday and completed the installation of the tub surround. They all did such a fantastic job, I was very happy. I had some special instructions because I wouldn't be able to hang around at home without access to a bathroom. I had cat instructions which they all followed to the letter. I felt secure in leaving them to work in my home and that takes alot because I do not give my trust easily. The first thing that impressed me about James was his honesty, integrity and professionalism. I had previously gone through quite a few less than favorable interactions with other contractors and plumbers putting me in the position of having to fabricate a husband in order to keep them honest which I don't like doing, so it was refreshing to find someone who is willing to work wih the customer rather than "work" the customer. Each day when they were done, you'd never know they were ever here unless you saw the bathroom - they were very conscientious about leaving the home the way they found it. James wasn't able to take credit cards and was willing to drop by to get payment after I went to the bank. Since I had an earlier meeting at work that day, James agreed to come to the library where I work to get the payment. Again this is an example of working with the customer which is essential given work and family schedules of both the customer and conractor.. I absolutely love my new tub surround, it is beautiful and actually makes me feel like my bathtub is bigger, even though that's not possible.

Description of Work: Sanded and painted a distressed cedar deck (two levels). Countersunk or replaced all bad deck fasteners. Sanded and restrained perimeter fascia as well as weathered fascia on the roof gables. Fabricated and installed flashing caps on large roof area 12" x 12"beams as well as support pillars. Assessed all outdoor areas for required 'tune-ups' and personally showed us those areas before proceeding on any work.

Description of Work: James has done a number of jobs for me and my mother, including interior paint, remodeling the kitchen, fixing various things around the house, etc. Recently he painted the exterior of the house. The house was washed using a light power wash and manual scrubbing, then he scraped loose paint and sanded. After the house was dry he applied primer to the bare wood and underside of every course of the wood lap siding. Areas that needed it were recaulked. Paint application involved spraying and back-rolling and back-brushing all applied paint. I was told this assures total and complete coverage as well as forcing the paint into the substrate better than spraying alone. All trim and the front handrail and garage door were hand painted very carefully. All the taping and masking was really clean and I was pretty impressed with how careful in general James and his crew were at care over detail. Lastly, new house numbers, new door handles/locks, mailbox, etc were added. He also installed new light fixtures by the garage and the back porch.
