Clawson Heating & Air Conditioning

Mike Clawson came out and very patiently explained the different types of furnaces. And, when we had questions later, he responded quickly. We have used this company for furnace tune-ups in the past and really appreciated the professionalism of the workers. We would have gladly used them to replace our furnace except we decided to go with a different brand of furnace. Clawson installs American Standard furnaces and we're sure it's a good brand. But, since our son recommends his new Coleman and since they're less expensive, we opted for a different company. I hope we don't regret it.

It doesn't get better than Clawsons. I bought my furnace from them 9 years ago. At that time they were extremely informative and helpful. The installation went perfectly and the furnace never had a problem. When my heat went out yesterday and it was 52 degrees in the house, their immediate response was to send someone out that day. He came (I was called when he left the office so I would know when to expect him), immediately determined the problem and was able to fix it on the spot. He also provided the annual check up and made the necessary adjustments. He took the time to answer my questions and was able to explain so I could understand. This is a topnotch company that is service oriented, offers competitive pricing and takes great pride in its work. I can't imagine using anyone else. Thanks, Clawson---you're the best!

This company is truly outstanding! Mike came out to our home and gave us an estimate on a new furnace and air conditioner. He reviewed our existing furnace and advised us of the benefits of going with a high efficiency furnace. Additionally, he purchased our nine year old heat pump from us and sold us a new air conditioner. The old heat pump never cooled our home adequately, so we were please to get something that would do a better job. When the two installers arrived at our home they were extremely courteous and professional. They were in our home for approximately eight hours installing the furnace and four hours installing the air conditioner. Additionally, at no charge the two of them reconnected a water heater pipe and sealed a vent cover opening the heat pump company had incorrectly put in our furnace duct work. Afterwards, the two technicians cleaned everything up and left us with a very nice gift basket. When I have called their office, the staff has always been very polite and knowledgeable concerning my questions. This company will go the extra mile for you to get your business, their prices are very competitive and their overall work and service is outstanding. My family could not be more pleased with the new furnace and air conditioner we purchased from Clawson Heating & Air Conditioning.

We've used Clawson for the last year to service our furnace and air conditioning unit. On the last visit Ryan, our service person, informed us that our furnace was in pretty bad shape and needed quite a few repair items. As it was 17 years old a replacement was in order. Sean and Gage arrived right on time and did an excellent job of installing and cleaning up. We are very pleased with the work and have found everyone we've been in contact with at the company to be friendly, helpful, professional. Highly recommend.

Ibstalled new igniter, serviced furnace

Since they had the required part on the truck, they were able to fix it the first time. In and gone in 30 minutes. Very professional.

The team at Clawson replaced my ancient furnace. I first had them out to check on the old one that was making scary booms. Ryan checked it out and gave me an estimate on my request for a new high efficiency furnace. I got other estimates and theirs was competitive with a better grade furnace. The guys did a great job. The install took all day and when they were running late another tech came out to help finish the job. I love my new furnace. Amy in the office has been very helpful and provided all the paperwork for the tax rebate and instructions. I will definitely be using Clawson again.

They were very polite and nice. So I set up an appointment with them over a different company I was going to use. From the moment Ryan got to our home, he was nothing but professional and courteous and friendly. He introduced himself, giving us his business card from the get go. Our impression of his work only got better as the service continued. Before he could even check on how the furnace was working, he cleaned it very, very thoroughly. The last company that serviced our furnace (a local furnace company in Gresham called Honke Heating and Air Conditioning) was not anywhere nearly as thorough as Ryan with Clawson Heating was. After he was done, the furnace looked almost brand new. We hadn't realized just how dirty it was, though we knew it was dirty. He explained the importance of having it cleaned really well because not doing so affects the efficiency of the furnace and he was well-versed on how it could affect the efficiency in terms of numbered measurements. Something the other company didn't explain either, nor did the previous local company clean it anywhere near what Ryan with Clawson Heating did.. Even though we asked questions and spoke with him a few times during the service, he never seemed distracted with his job and his focus on what he was doing while at the same time politely answering our questions. He obviously was very familiar with what he was doing. After cleaning, which took a while since it was so dirty, he meticulously checked all the temperature readings and in so doing, discovered we had a bad igniter that was on it's last leg. If we hadn't had someone as efficient as Ryan, we could have been stuck with no heat in the middle of Winter this year!! It wasn't an inexpensive part, but we knew it would have ended up costing more to replace it later to fix it as it would mean another service call/appointment fee on top of the igniter. I am SO grateful that he found this problem!! That's exactly what we wanted was to find out how the furnace was holding up, and insure that we had no problems later at a more inconvenient time. Then, Ryan said he needed to check the indoor operations of the furnace to see how our floor vents looked and the 2 return air filters locations in the ceiling, and to check our thermostat to see how accurate it was as he measured the temperature readings there. We NEVER had anyone come inside the house to look things over before so were surprised when he mentioned it! He said that was just part of the service and couldn't imagine not doing so. He showed us that the way we had our return filters set up wasn't helping things to work at their best potential and offered to clean them as well. Next, he showed us how one of our floor vents had some kind of old filter/cloth on it that we didn't even know about and how that could've been affecting the overall heating efficiency of the home, so he removed that. Then, when checking the thermostat he discovered that there was a small hole behind it which was letting in cold air, which also could've been giving us an incorrect temperature reading near the box and fixed that. UNBELIEVABLE. We just were more and more impressed as his service kept showing us ways and fixing things that would make our home get the maximum energy savings possible. Since the service, we are sure that it resulted in us being able to heat the home at a lower temperature setting than before and be just as comfortable. We also have total peace of mind that the furnace is operating the way it's supposed to, too!! We know we will also be calling Clawson Heating to come look at our Air Conditioner unit next summer, too!!

You could not do better than have Mike Clawson and his team do furnace work for you

Ryan arrived right on time; fully serviced both gas furnace and air conditioning system which were way past due for routine maintenance. They were running a service special which was why I called them plus they had been favorable reviewed by other Angie's List members. After work was completed, Ryan suggested setting up a maintenance schedule which led to a somewhat confusing explanation of the cost but overall I was satisfied and went ahead with setting up the plan. I thought I was spending $198 (each item was $99 per their service special) but I ended up spending $373.00.

I have used this company in the past, and like everyone I have come in contact with. Last time it was Joseph, and this time Josh. I had a small problem with my AC unit on a Weds or Thurs evening, so I called them the next morning to set up a service appointment, thinking it would be several weeks before the could come out, being mid summer. I was happy to find that they had an opening early the next week, on a day when I was off of work, so I had no loss of income involved to meet them. Josh was prompt, friendly and helpful. He serviced both the AC and the Furnace (as they were having a special), and everything works like a dream. I would recommend Clawson to anyone looking for a good HVAC company.

Joe have reviewed the problem before and this time it was time to replace the sensor so the furnace would operate as planned. He had the part on the truck and was prompt and finished in less than 30 minutes. Wonderful.

The Technician went above and beyond to not only clean and service the Furnace but to also Clean the top of the Water Heater that was sitting next to it. Exceptional service, always on time and on budget.

Of course things break when you need them most! A couple of weeks ago, during the 90 degree weather our AC went out. While they were a little late for the appointment (30 minutes), the technician quickly figured out that the problem was a fuse in the AC unit and was able to quickly (and cost effectively) fix the problem. He also performed an overall diagnostic (OK, we hadn't had the unit serviced in 18 yrs!) checking freon, etc and said everything was fine with it!. Our first experience with Clawson was last winter during a stretch of below freezing whether and the furnace went out. The owner determined that a very expensive part under warranty had failed, was able to contact the company and get replacement parts shipped out, saving us a lot of money!

I would highly recommend Clawson's. I got estimates from 3 companies. Clawson's estimator came at the scheduled time and checked area of house to determine correct furnace size. He was able to answer the long list of questions I had. I selected Clawson's to do the work based on furnace manufacturer used, pricing and reputation. They did an excellent job of installation making sure everything was up to code and consulting with me about the best place to put the exhaust/vent piping. They were very polite, knowledgeable and personable. They worked efficiently and removed all debris and the old furnace. The furnace fit well with my A/C. They also were able to supply a new metal ceiling grill that holds a filter--the old grill did not hold a filter. My grill was odd-sized. The new grill makes it much easier to change filters than the old furnace where I had to go out to the garage and install the filter in the furnace. The ceiling grill was hard to install because it was right next to the wall. The installer made a very small scratch on my painted wall near the ceiling and apologized. I had matching paint and touched it up so I can't even tell there was a scratch. I was very surprised a week later to receive a large, beautifully wrapped gift basket filled with all kinds of goodies and a note of apology. The scratch had been so small. They also provided all the paperwork for the rebates and made it east to submit. Clawson's went above and beyond what most companies would do. I have been very happy with my furnace and have had no problems.

They come when they say they are. They do a great job and are very personable. They don't raise the price; they tell you that's what it is going to be and that's what it is. They are a lot of things about them that I really like. I say absolutely use them. We got two bids, including one from a friend we like, but we chose this one based on reports we had gotten from others. I will use them again in the future.

The furnace was not working in our Mt. cabin in Welches, OR. Clawson Heating agreed to meet us at a predetermined spot so that we could then lead them to our rather hard to find cabin. They were prompt and prepared! They had the part needed on the truck and fixed it in no time! They also examined the furnace, made a couple of suggestions for future maintenance. They were extremely helpful, very professional and easy to work with.

I have been very pleased with them. I?ve had a great experience with them. I?ll continue using their services in the future.

Sean Teach did our estimate. He did a very good job in answering my questions about their furnace and the installation including the options. He provided us with an estimate that was quite fair and below the amount from some of the larger heating and AC companies which I contacted. We received estimates from a total of 5 companies. When I had additional questions for Sean, he was very prompt in returning my calls and answering my questions. He was very easy to work with and very professional. The office staff at Clawson scheduled our installation according to our schedule and explained how the rebate/tax credit paperwork would be completed. All of the paperwork was completed very promptly and the submission process was completely explained. Shawn Fahr and Antonio did a fantastic job installing our furnace. They routed the condensate and intake lines as requested and did a great job of explaining the options. They were very professional and did an excellent job with the installation. They started work on schedule and finished the long day's work that evening. Everything was picked up after their work and they took care not to track dirt into our home during the entire process. They also cleaned our heating ducts which were not all that dirty but they did remove two empty beer cans that were probably in there since the house was built Shawn explained the important features of the furnace and thermostat. Clawson left a very nice gift basket at the end of the process. An inspector from the Energy Trust of Oregon came out to inspect the other weatherization job that we had completed earlier and he commented that the furnace installation was extremely well done. I am very impressed with our experience with this company. We had top notch service from start to finish. I strongly recommend them to others.

First an inspection followed soon by an estimate. The crew was at work within a week-they took one and a half days. Very good instructions about how to program the new equipment plus they found a cracked brace in my attic and did a temporary fix until I could get a repairman out. The estimator and the office staff couldn't have been more helpful about helping me with energy rebates paperwork. I'm a satisfied customer.

We got the name of this company from a friend who had used them several times. NOW we know why! Sean came one afternoon to explain the product to us. He did not push for a sale at all. He made suggestions and urged us to talk and call him back if we were still interested. We did that. We made a date to have the gas furnace and heat pump installed. They arrived on time. Sean came the first day to check in. The two men who worked, worked HARD. They were very considerate and polite. Their work was good and they cleaned the area up well. It took 2 days as they had told us it would. So far, we are very pleased with our choice. On the second day, when they were finished, they handed us a lovely gift basket for using their company. Custumer service is their highest goal and they succeeded with us! It is obvious that this company carefully picks those working with them and for them. All of the men were very nice people to have in our home. We are beyond pleased!! We will happily pass this name on to our friends.

Our experience with Clawson heating was great, we were fortunate on our project to have worked with some wonderful companies and individuals. Clawson heating is at the top of my list for customer service, integrity and professionalism. Clawson heating worked with our schedule to assist us in each step of the construction process. Everyone at Clawson took time to be friendly and helpful, I was impressed with great customer service which I noted with each individual at every level of association within Clawson Heating. I believe that Clawson Heating went out of their way to assist us when another unrelated contractor created a bit of chaos with our heating system. I would hire this company again and refer Clawson with the utmost respect and confidence.

My gas heating furnace periodically would not provide heat when needed. I called Northwest Natural Gas and they dispatched Mike from Clawson Heating and AC. He quickly diagnosed the problem, circuit board, and attempted to fix it. Since he was unable to fix it, he gave me a few options to consider. I chose to have him obtain the part and replace it. Mike found a new replacement circuit board at a local plumbing distributor. He picked up the board and installed it. He also gave me a few tips about cleaning/maintaining the furnace. He also recommended that I replace my old thermostat with a programmable, which I later did. The heating system has been working like clockwork since. Mike was a consummate professional and we would not hesitate to hire Clawson again.
