My home is basically new now and everything turned out much better than I'd ever imagined. Lyle is a seasoned contractor and builder with a big heart. He had my best interest in mind for the duration of the project and he was creative and efficient. He walked me through every step of the way and provided me with the information I needed to make decisions big and small. I couldn't be happier with the work and with my new home.

Lyle is a great craftsman and contractor. He made our kitchen remodel process extremely easy. And we were very pleased with the final product. Lyle brings a tremendous amount of experience to his projects and that shows in both his work and the work of his highly professional and capable network of sub-contractors. Lyle's calm demeanor and willingness to consider and research requests and changes made him a real asset to our project. We were on time and on budget which says a lot about his planning process and his commitment to customer satisfaction. I cannot recommend Cascade Homebuilders highly enough.

It went very well indeed. I ended up with a very handsome and inviting and polished space, just what I wanted. We had no trouble at all getting the permits approved, thanks to Lyle's careful preparation; structural issues and electrical and water plans were carefully considered. I had quite strong opinions as to what I wanted, and I searched out many of the elements, but I gladly included some of his suggestions, such as a garden window, a great addition. When I thought I wanted a particular treatment on the cement floor, Lyle did a series of experiments with me, using some novel approaches. (In the end, I instead chose the simplest approach -- very happy with that.) His construction work seemed excellent and he had excellent sub-contractors -- and obviously excellent relationships with them. Again, the city approved the work with alacrity. Lyle kept me well informed as the work progressed -- and kept the premises orderly and clean. The finish work was impeccable. I strongly recommend him.

Lyle McQueen-Smith is the owner, and he personally managed all the details and subcontractors. The job took about 5 weeks to complete, which makes sense given the degree of disaster -- the entire basement was taken down to studs (had to be professionally cleaned/sanitized by another service, including ripping out all drywall and flooring). From the initial meeting all the way through the job, Lyle was very professional, very clear with contracts and deliverables and milestones and pricing, showed up on time (as did all subcontractors), followed through on commitments, and always kept the workspace very tidy. Given the degree of loss (about $27,000), money was tight. We told Lyle precisely what our budget was and he was pretty straight with us about what we could and could not do, and he also offered us several options for how we could accomplish things more economically or "inventively" to achieve our goals. He did a lot of the work himself, but also had a go-to team of plumbers, drywall installers, tile installers, and electricians who rotated through. The skill, expertise and business acumen were/are clearly there, but we also were appreciative of Lyle's eye for looking at a gutted space lit by a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling and helping us envision what it could be turned into (at our price point). For the new room that he refinished, he helped us see how all the loose/bare wires could be boxed in, and how exposed plumbing could be rerouted and also boxed in. Result: a very cool geometry that, with a 4-color paint scheme, is pretty fun. We have recently hired Cascade Homebuilders to update our living room and re-do a bathroom.

Lyle was attentive to details and flexible in accommodating our needs. He made sure the contractors delivered on time and on budget. He gave us frequent updates on progress and handled any challenges that arose.
