Our home was constructed in 1987 and some of the doors had metal door seals that had come loose and were no longer functional. The interior door to the garage was in the worst condition and we replaced it with a fiberglass fire door. Dale and his two sons spent 8 hours replacing seals and aligning each door for maximum energy efficiency. I also had them replace the door hardware on three of the exterior doors. The door to the garage still needs to be stained and I have CB Finepainting LLC set up to do that ($500).

Our front door has side light windows on both sides of it in a non standard size that would require re-framing the wall to replace with a standard setup. The wood door was severely warped in the winter and letting freezing air in the house. Also, we didn't like the look of sidelight glass. Two companies gave us quotes for replacement that were quite high. A salesman at Truax suggested just having a new door fitted into the existing frame and gave us a business card to Grand Openings. It took some time but they did give us an estimate. We had them do the work and now have a nice looking fiberglass door and beautiful side lights/transom light. I especially love the door with it's nice fit and weatherstripping. I notice it every time I use it. I really like the hardware/pull. Grand Openings saved us a bundle compared to the other guys. Excellent quality workmanship. Have to be very patient as they are a small company and are in demand.

They are doing an awesome job. They are coming back today and do some work on my front door. They are very meticulous. I had the window made. Their punctuality is mid grade compared to others. They do small jobs that some companies would not even bother to call you back. The contract has changed a little bit because we decided on something a little bit different when he came out the second time to recheck it. He was behind in his work. He had lots of jobs going. He came back to oversee it again to refresh his memory. To make sure he got it right. The order changed a little bit. I am sure they are going to bring another contact. The window itself changed too.

Grand Openings has been an absolute pleasure to work with. The owners and their rep are very professional and personable. They uninstalled my old doors, jams and trim without any great issue (I have lathe and plaster) We had a couple cracks in the plaster happen but that was expected and I was forwarded it could be an issue. They were repaired. The new doors, jams and trim got installed and are absolutely beautiful. It takes real skill to install a door correctly and Shawn does beautiful work. He is a perfectionist. Shawn also fixed my front door as I was having trouble with it opening/closing because the house had settled. It works great now. I couldn't be happier. They clean up after each day and are timely. Grand Openings is an A+ provider. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Grand Openings to anyone who needs to trust a company with their home because their work is impeccable and you won't be disappointed.

Dale did a FANTASTIC job repairing and reinstalling our old farmhouse door. After 40 years of service, it was time for some TLC for the crowning piece of our newly remodeled entryway. Our door is beautiful and ready for the next 40 years. We are very happy with the workmanship and service and highly recommend Grand Openings for other custom front door repair, refurbishment and updating!

Carole & Dale of Grand Openings are beyond amazing! I contacted them about a broken window hinge on my !930 house in Silverton. Although Carole told me that they don't usually work in Silverton, she asked for a photo of the hinge. The next day (Saturday!) she contacted me saying that Dale can get the hinge to retrofit my window and suggested they might be in Silverton on Sunday July 3rd for the fireworks. I never expected that they would consider working on a Sunday, 4th of July weekend, but they called that morning asking if they could meet me at the house! They brought their tools and had the vintage leaded glass window fitted with 2 new hinges within a couple of hours! They worked together so efficiently with obvious experience and expertise, and such teamwork! I know they have a full schedule of work and that they squeezed me in on a holiday out of pure kindness and dedication to helping people restore their vintage homes. I would highly recommend them, and have to say they are very unusual in the world today. I hope they won't mind returning to Silverton in the future! The window is working beautifully! Thank you Dale & Carole! Victoria

Overall the project went fine, and Dale performs good work. Still, there were a few unresolved issues that surfaced that left me feeling a little sour, that I was far from being a valued customer, and would cause me to pause before hiring them again. It was agreed that the work would likely be performed in a day but if not it would finished the following day. A couple days before the scheduled day I received a call that the subcontracted new door would not be ready until day it was to be installed, so, not a problem, I thought, that's what the scheduled second day was for. But apparently they had scheduled another project that day, so it would have to wait until the next week. At the same time I asked for a bid on a bigger project involving French doors that I wanted to move forward with after the current project. Okay, so the door was installed the next week (There was a minor problem with the keying of the lock, but he said he'd resolve that and provide me with the two keys that came with the deadbolt when he returned), and I explained what I wanted for the French doors so that he could provide a bid when he returned. But then he was not able to come back the next day to finish it because, apparently, he had another project to do, so he would be back in several days. Fine, not much I can do about it at this stage. So he returned four days later to finish the project but did not have the two keys for the deadbolt that were supposed to be included (Not a huge problem, as I can go to Home Depot and have a couple made, but, still...) and did not have the bid for the French doors because he had not measured it when he was working at the house several days before. So he then measured the door and said the bid would be emailed to me (I received it four days later) My plan had been to hire him immediately (like I had done when he came to provide a bid on the first project) had he brought the bid after our earlier discussion, but at this point I was beginning to feel a bit like a "low priority" customer and that contracting with them for a bigger project involving more scheduling, subcontractors, vendors might not be wise.

The door service went well. The quality of work done was acceptable although there was a fair bit more time spent than predicted which is important for hourly work. The main negative was for the reception/scheduler. It was difficult to schedule work and required multiple phone calls over the course of a week (including an accusation that I was "cornering her into giving an appointment time" which was untrue). She was also quite rude on a phone call following up receipt of payment. She called me two weeks after I received my email invoice and stated she must have a check sent to her that day (this two week expectation was not made clear at time of work or billing). I explained I was out of town and that the best I could do was to send a billpay payment or could explore other alternatives. She became very frustrated at this point, called my delay "unacceptable" and abruptly finished the phone call by saying "I guess we will look for that check in 4 weeks then" and hung up. I feel I was treated in a very unprofessional manner and despite the acceptable work done I would not recommend this company to friends and family.

The provider restored my old door from 1928 when the house was built and upgraded the lock. Replaced the old Mortise lock with an upgraded lock - in the style of the home. This was the frustrating part of the job as the provider of the lock although receiving specific instructions sent the wrong hardware for the door which delayed the project and sent Dale all over town. But by preserving this door we now have a much more solid door than we could buy and we are amazed and gratified at not having to fight our door anymore to get it open. He also replaced the hardware for the door and the frame of the door. What is amazing is our house is so toasty now that we can close the door properly and its sealed.

The folks at Grand Openings were able to perform a very difficult repair job on doors in a building over one hundred years old. Needless to say, repairs to almost anything in these old buildings is a challenge. No other company would give me a bid (even for replacement as the openings were not true and they couldn't measure). Carole, Dale and Sean tackled the project and did a superb job. You won't regret calling this group for door and window work.

I needed someone to come out that day and luckily they had time for me. There was a trip charge but I planned on hiring him anyways because we were leaving town and needed the door adjustment addressed. I specifically asked if / can he fill in the part of the door frame where I'd carved away too much of the wood so the bolt would have something to go through. He said yes, gave his quote and he went to work. After an hour he was done. The door fit much better and the bolt slid effortlessly into the strike plate. But he didn't fill the hole in the frame with a wood graft like I'd asked and he agreed to. He said it wasn't necessary because the three inch screws went into the frame and the lock was secure. But that's not what was discussed or agreed. I was very clear during the initial call and before the work was done that this was what I wanted. I wasn't happy about that, but since the door closed, the lock worked and the job was done I didn't make a fuss about it. He asked for payment on the spot and his only options were cash or check. I had neither. He got a bit exasperated and didn't like the idea of me sending him an instant payment via Paypal. Luckily my friend was there and she paid with a check. He really needs to disclose this to his future clients before he comes out for a job that he does not accept plastic. It was awkward and it didn't need to be.
Description of Work: Adjusted the door so the keyless lock would engage and not hit the door frame.
