GARDEN OF IDEN

I asked Joe to remove weeds from a garden bed in front of our house and to weed and trim a portion of our back yard. This included removing a small tree and trimming and removing weeds between shrubs and ferns and along a fence line. The yard was overgrown and I repeatedly pointed out the difficulties we had encountered -- which was why we were looking at hiring a professional. He was enthusiastic and confident that he could make it look good when he gave us his estimate. He thought the work would take him one day and a couple hours of another day. As it turned out, Joe could not finish the job completely as we discussed it because it was too difficult and ended up taking too long and he broke one of his tools. His estimate of the amount of debris was too low and it was too difficult to carry it all up to our burn pile. He made a good dent in the work, but did not accomplish all that we agreed upon and needed done. Because he gives estimates and not contracts, there was nothing binding him to complete the work. He emailed saying that he knew we were not satisfied and said he would come back and work on it as he had time. It has been 16 days now and he has never returned.

Some folks might be hesitant hiring a young contractor, but our experience was excellent, Joe was very responsible, hard worker, very mature and professional, I would recommend him to anyone.
