When setting the appointment Victor gave me a 2 hour window of when they'd be at the house to do the service, which was set for the next day. He gave me a call when he was on his way from his previous appointment, which gave me enough time to meet him there. He showed up and used the snake to get the downspout drain all cleared up and working again. He also talked to me about some possible options in case the drain's concrete pipe gave out in the future even though he said I'd probably get years worth of use still from what I have. Overall, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and very efficient. He did a great job and I'd use the company again in the future.

The job was done quickly and efficiently. Victor fixed the problem with the pipe and double checked all other possible problems. Once done, he made sure everything was functioning properly and that the pipe problem wasn't caused by a blockage. Victor was very professional and we will always call West Side Drain for any of our plumbing needs. The good thing about West Side Drain is that when you call, you actually talk to a plumber that can give you a good idea of what they expect could be involved and give you a price estimate based on the worst case. Our job was actually a lot easier than they expected and it cost half of the estimate.

West Side Drain recommended us calling a leak detection place first to find the leak, then they came and repaired the piece of water line service pipe. I liked how they were upfront with their price and it was easy to get a hold of someone when calling. Another plumber quoted a range from $400-1000 for the same work. Victor was also very accomodating in trying to get someone out as soon as possible to do the work.

We needed to locate the main sanitary sewer drain line under our basement floor slab for installation of a new floor drain. Earlier, I had rented a Ridgid utility transmitter and line locator, thinking it would be fairly easy to locate the line myself. After spending $90 on the rental and a couple frustrating hours I was no further than when I started, so it was time to hire a professional. West Side Drain had many good reviews on Angie's list, so I called them. The person I talked to explained the line locating equipment they use (a Ridgid See Snake transmitter and Ridgid locator), and asked if there were any cleanouts on the line. I told him there are none that I know of, and he said in that case they could drop a snake down the main stack vent to access the drain. He also explained their rates, gave me an estimated charge for the locate, and set up an appointment for that afternoon. After calling to let me know he was on his way, Arthur (the technician) showed up and went right to work. In less than 40 minutes he had located the drain line below the slab, marked its location and depth at several points along the line, and retrieved his equipment from the line. He also took the time to answer my questions and give recommendations on how to expose the main drain line and make the tie-in for the new floor drain. I was impressed with Arthur's efficiency and professionalism, and would not hesitate hiring them again.

I had our solids tank pumped out, and had to dig down 3 feet with a back hoe to get to the access hatch (why did they design it that way! It's crazy!) In digging down, I also broke an irrigation line for the lawn. Turns out the irrigation installers don't think anything about running irrigation lines directly across or near a septic access point, which is also nuts! Well, after doing a boatload of digging with my son, we repaired the irrigation line and then I looked for someone to install a riser for the solids tank so I never have to dig the crazy thing up again! Turns out a lot of the septic repair places don't want to do a riser installation. They like to do those in the slow months, during the winter. I called several places that would NOT do it in the summer. Since I had already dug up the tank access hatch and had everything cleared and ready for installation, I wanted to get it done. I spoke to David, who said he would send Michael to check the job and do an estimate. Turns out Victor arrived instead. Victor checked over the proposed installation work, and quoted me around $700-800 to put in a concrete riser. I wanted a concrete riser (as opposed to a plastic riser) as I wanted something that would last a long time, and based on my web research, a concrete one has certainly stood the test of time. Many places will NOT put in concrete, as it is much more difficult than the lightweight plastic or fiberglass risers. West Side Drain not only WILL put the in, but they prefer to put them in because they ALSO think that they last a lot longer, despite the fact that they take longer, involve more labor, and make the installation a 2 man job. In any event, Victor called and got the parts ordered from Canby and they picked up the concrete riser pieces and all the other stuff they needed (e.g. mortar) and Victor and a coworker showed up around 3-4PM to work on the job. I took then about 90 minutes and the poor guys were drenched in sweat when they finished. They worked hard, they did a GREAT job, and they are honest, fast, and professional. I absolutely would use them again. Great guys!

Dave was professional and competent sounding on the phone, gave a price and said someone would be at the house during a 2 hour window that started in half an hour. The technician arrived promptly at the beginning of the window. He was business like, neat and clean, and went straight to work. He promised he would be able to fix the problem without any difficulty and then he did. He made two trips into the basement to ensure that his work did not cause any other problems with the plumbing. And when he left there was no sign of his presence, every thing was dry and clean. And the drain worked perfectly. I was very happy, they were quick, professional, tidy and business like.
Description of Work: Cleared blockage in kitchen drain. We discovered the kitchen drain was not working and we did the usual things: plunged, checked the trap under the sink and then snaked the pipes. The blockage turned out to be in the basement, well beyond our reach. West Side brought in a power auger and drilled it out.

They found a clean-out pipe already existed so only charged me for the time it took to scope the location. They did a video scope providing a disc and report. This was part of a sale inspection. The only problem was the report did not clearly state the results and recommended actions. I called the same day and the lead person came back out and completed the report. Work was thorough and well explained. Did dig up a few plants that were in the way of the pipe and did not replant them luckily the plants grow quickly.

We needed a rushed appointment and the service man was going to come out in one hour which we were very grateful. However, We had to cancelled the sewer scope appt due to negative finding found on the house by another inspector after the sappt was made. The service man was already on the way although he was running late. Although the service man was going to charge the service fee, Dave, the owner, was gracious to void the full service charge; thus, owing nothing. Thank you.

They arrived on time, did excellent work, and protected our property. They worked on Saturday, worked quickly, and returned the property to its pre-sewage drain state. I can't say enough about how wonderful they were. I was so pleased with the care and respect they showed our property. They were very concerned about getting the job done quickly so that we wouldn't be inconvenienced anymore than was necessary. I would hire them again. They were outstanding!!!

Called them to inquire about a clogged drain system. Person answering the phone was polite and professional Asked me what I had noticed and he told me what it might be and quoted a very fair price. Based on the information I told him, he escalated the call such that service would be provided in the same day. Within a half hour I received a call from their service tech, Arthur, notifying me of an approximate time that he would arrive at the service location. Arthur arrived 10 minutes early and was friendly and courteous. After a brief discussion and inspection, he informed me of what the issue was. He proceeded to describe the service to be provided and started working on the issue as soon as I authorized the work to be done. He cleared the blockage in about 40 minutes and had my drains flowing freely again. He also gave gave me a guided visual tour of my main drain line and pointed out problem areas as they appeared, with a recommendation and the surface location for each. Time from initial call to problem resolved was approximately 2 hours. If you are looking for a service provider that can deliver excellent quality at a fair price, this company is it. They truly know the meaning of, and value, customer service. There are a lot of companies out there that could learn from them in that aspect.

Victor at West Side Drain was referred to us by another Angie's List contractor because the original contractor didn't do this kind of work (using a camera in the sewer and plumbing to figure out what's going on). Victor got the phone call from the original contractor on Saturday morning that we couldn't flush one of our toilets, that we had the sound of running water in the crawl space (that my husband hadn't been able to locate on his own) and some bad odors in the house. He tweaked his schedule so that he could come out that day (Saturday) to take a look. As requested, I called him back after my husband opened the septic tank to let him know that the tank did not need emptying, at which time, he told me that his and quot;day had gone southand quot; and would it be possible to come out tomorrow (Sunday) but he wouldn't charge me the Sunday rate- I'd get the regular rate. I didn't have a problem with that so we rescheduled. Late that day, my husband decided to look in the crawl space one more time to figure out where that sound of running water was coming from and it became immediately apparent that there was a not-to-code plumbing vent in the crawl space and it was releasing raw sewage into our crawl space (major yuck!). We decided to spend the night at relatives since there was no way we were putting anything down our drains since we knew where it was going to end up. I called Victor that evening to give him an update and to request that he change the time of our appointment for the next day. He had no problem with the change and was very compassionate about our change in circumstances. The next day, Arthur (who works with Victor) was at our house slightly ahead of schedule (thank you!) and took a walk around with me as I described the various problems that we had. He looked in the crawl space to look at the venting problem, looked at the bathroom where the toilet wasn't flushing, looked at the septic tank to confirm that it didn't need pumping and then got out his camera and then put together an estimate for the job (initially, camera work and a possible toilet removal in order to access the plumbing system). I approved the estimate and he went to work. He almost immediately discovered that cause of at least one of our problems- the pipe running from the septic tank to the house had had a cave-in and no solids were passing through to the septic system. He wasn't able to run the camera any further than the cave-in. He showed me the camera screen and explained what I was seeing. He told me that he would need to do some additional work. He explained that he would need to dig out the existing line from the septic tank to the house, clean out the debris and replace the line. He also recommended that we add a clean out valve to that line that would access both the house and the septic system. He called Victor to get an estimate (both with and without the added clean out valve). I approved the estimate for both and Arthur got started digging out the mess. Within 1/2 hour, Victor showed up (with the additional parts needed for this repair) and worked with Arthur to get the job done quickly and efficiently. They did find an old clean out valve (that was under 8and quot; of dirt, corroded and only fed into the septic tank but not into the house) and we all agreed that that needed to be replaced. With two of them working, they quickly finished the dig out, replaced the pipe and all attachments and added the clean out valve. They were then free to finish cleaning out the remaining debris, flush the system and run the camera through the rest of the plumbing in my house to make sure that there were not additional plumbing/sewage issues the were adding to our problems. Victor also discussed the problems with the crawl space vent and suggested capping it to ensure that this problem would not happen again. I appreciated that he was clear about what was allowed by code and didn't suggest doing anything that wouldn't pass an inspection. My husband was now down and out, sick with the flu, so I had to handle the entire situation myself. I appreciated that both Arthur and Victor were respectful, explained their answers thoroughly and demonstrated what they were going to do and why. Thank you Victor and Arthur for taking care of a disgusting mess and on a Sunday to boot!

The two young men who came out were experienced and efficient. They were friendly and willing to answer questions. Soon after they arrived, they informed me that there and quot;mightand quot; be a and quot;sludge chargeand quot; of $100 if there was a lot of sludge. I told them I had never been told this before. (Luckily, there was no sludge problem.) They did the work in a timely fashion : cleaned, serviced, inspected the 1000-gallon septic tank. Found it to be in good working condition; they left the area clean when they finished. However, they discovered a broken pipe/baffle inside the tank. They told me I was required to hook up to a sewer line because I would not be permitted to have the broken baffle fixed/replaced. (When I checked to see how much it would cost us to connect to a sewer line - it was EXTREMELY expensive - no way we could afford it). Then I checked with the county, and was told there was no reason we could not have the pipe fixed or replaced. We just needed to hire a plumber to do it - which we have done..

We called looking for a paid inspection of our septic tank and drain field. I have been told by others it is important to get the drain field inspected or tested as well as it is important to see if it is clogged up. Dave with Westside Drain was only interested in using a camera to inspect the septic tank when I asked about the drain field he told me that it was more important to look at the tank, that is fine and I understood that but I continued to ask about the drainfield. Finally he said We cant do business and hung up. Very strange.

No business at all was done with this individual. They did not want to pay for the entire inspection process. He just kept on trying to find ways to cut corners and reduce the cost of the inspection (house flipper is my guess). I repeatedly told him "in order to inspect a drainfield you first need to pump out and inspect the septic tank. Without pumping the tank and running a camera down the outgoing pipe you cant inspect the drainfield." It is an extra $395 to pump out a septic tank. HE DID NOT WANT TO PAY TO HAVE THE SEPTIC TANK PUMPED OUT. After 15 minutes of non-stop questions and trying to cut corners i told him "I'm very sorry sir, West Side Drain does not cut corners. I can't to do business with you." Then i hung up. I can understand not wanting to pay to pump out a septic tank on a house you do not own yet... But to give me a F because we refuse to cut corners is just down right dishonest. SHAME ON YOU SIR.......
We called Dave at West side Drain on recommendation from Dave The Unplugger. Dave called me back that day and agreed to come out the next morning. He arrived promptly at 7am. He gave us a couple of options. Try snaking the line again, then scope. Use high powered jet water to flush the line then scope. Replace the line. They tried to snake the line and were also not able to get it to go through. We decided to have the sewer line replaced. Our house was built in 1935. The house had cast iron pipe under the basement floor but from the house to the street was a combination of cement and clay pipe. We have also had a sink hole for 20 years that we had just filled in periodically. Dave came the following day with heavy equipment to dig down to the sewer line. After getting the right permits in place they started digging. The hole was over 10 foot deep. While digging this hole they inadvertently cut the water service line that was right on top of the sewer line. As it turns out, the water pipe was very corroded and had small holes. This leaky pipe is probably what was causing the sink hole. Since it was their error, they gave us a substantial discount on replacing it. They did not have to dig up the sidewalk because they ran the new pipe thru the old, breaking up the old pipe as they went. They were able to hook up to the sewer so we were able to use our plumbing in the evenings. We did have to hook into the neighbor's water until our system was operational. The blockage in the sewer line was caused by large stones in the pipe. The rain drain pipe was not attached properly so it's possible the stones got in the pipe that way. The work was completely finished in 5 days. There wasn't enough dirt to completely fill in the hole due to the sink hole. We did have to do that ourselves. They did a pretty good job cleaning up after themselves.

We've had work done on our septic system over the years and no one was as knowledgeable, honest, and efficient than Dave with West Side Drain. He is very responsive and a good educator as well. We are extremely pleased with his work.
Description of Work: We called Dave because we had an obnoxious odor coming from our washing machine area every time we did laundry. Our house was built in 1955 so it was on a septic system. Dave came over on a Saturday and realized we had a significant problem with our septic tank not draining. It had been pumped in March 09. He identified an urgent problem because the water level was very high in our septic tank. Dave came over the next day, Sunday, and with his helper they emptied the septic tank, ran a camera to be sure the pipes were clear to the dry well. They then helped us to access the dry well (we weren't sure how to access it). It was full to the top with sludge as well. They pumped that, jetted the drain holes in the dry well and added 5 gallons of enzymatic cleaner. They cleaned up after themselves, were 5 minutes EARLY in arriving on Sunday. Both he and his helper were very professional, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable about the septic systems in our area. Dave will be back in 3-4 weeks to ensure that everything is continuing to drain well. Due to the age of our dry well, he recommends adding 5 gallons of enzymatic cleaner every year to the dry well to keep it functioning.

They were wonderful to work with. Very professional and capable, hard-working, very respectful of our property and landscaping. Super cooperative and helpful. Everything was totally handled to our complete satisfaction, no problem, at the bid price. Top quality work. Top recommendations.
Description of Work: Diagnosed exterior sewer drain blockage. Found failure in the line between iron pipe from house and terracotta line to street. Camera checkout of entire line. Gave us alternatives of line repair or complete replacement. We agreed that replacement was called for. They did trench-less replacement with HDPE pipe. Provided us with temporary service so we had facilities available throughout work period. Excavation at both ends, line replacement and connection, fill and prep for concrete. Offered us discount if we wanted a concrete firm to replace driveway panels rather than them which we chose to do. Handled all permits and inspections. Added clean-outs at both ends of the line. Worked on broken floor drain in basement as well at no extra charge. Completed job in five days Monday thru Friday, in spite of some difficulties.
