I called Bentley Electric to inspect and bid on several issues. The bathroom fans were non operational and the kitchen lighting was ugly and fairly dysfunctional. Jay made a special effort to come out before his first job the next day to check out the stated problems. His bid was competitive and the required work was scheduled for the next week. Jay called later that night and rescheduled for the next day. The bathroom fans had their motors replaced rather than ripping out the existing fixtures and creating a huge mess on move in day. The kitchen lights were replaced with recessed lighting that updated and enhanced the kitchen/laundry area and will also lower energy usage. The work was done in a very timely manner, there was NO MESS, and it came in under the original bid as the fan motors were slightly less expensive. Jay passed along the savings which was an unexpected but very appreciated bonus. I can say that when there are future issues of an electrical nature we will be calling Jay. This is a fine professional, but I was disappointed that the chandelier hung over the dining room table was not centered over the table. This could easily have been done, even by using a swag. Only the hubby was home, and the two men did not get it right. Electricians who work in homes should understand the importance of placement of light fixtures. I would hire him again, for work such as electrical panel,. Unless I was going to be home, I would not use him to help with any visible electrical work.

Patrick called before the scheduled appt to let us know he was running a few minutes late. ( He had stopped to purchase a part and the store's computer system went down for a few minutes.) He worked quickly and explained the process as he went along - probably cause my husband was standing there:) We're excited that we found an electrician for future needs and will never hesitate to call them again.

Jay Bentley and one crew member. Very professional and respectful. They arrived on-time in two fully stocked vehicles at 8am Quickly assessed the quickest and simplest possible route to install indoor wiring. The two worked well on each end after which Jay left for his crew member to plan and install the provided flood light. I had no idea how to run the wiring which is why I called a pro. Also It would have taken me all morning to install just the LED flood. Was good to get that little project out of the way. Got an estimate for another major project. All done around 10:20am Impressive.

Scheduling was easy and Patrick was very punctual and professional. I have a cat that was very curious as to what was going on and Patrick was very tolerant of her. He asked if there was anything else he could help me with and I asked him to put my bathroom light back together. I had to take it apart to replace the halogen bulb and because I could not reach the fixture very easily it is always an accident waiting to happen when I have to climb on a chair to do it. He did it in about 2 minutes and I was very grateful I would not hesitant to hire them again and I will recommend Bentley Electric to my friends.

The work went well. I just wanted the two lights installed, but ran into problems. One of the lights couldn't be installed, but they were able to provide a replacement. I had time left over, so they also offered to install new smoke detectors, which I did.

Patrick didn't disappoint. He is friendly and efficient and cleans up his mess. Outlets were installed and fan was working the next warm day.

Everything was great: prompt, professional, great quality. They answered all my questions thoroughly and gave me good pointers on how to tell if any additional outlets may need replacement in the future. Highly recommended!

Patrick arrived at our home after calling to tell us he was on his way. He assessed the situation and went to work. He was wonderful to work with and did the work as asked. He also updated some of our older outlets in the house. Was very contentious and cleaned up all areas he worked on. We were very happy to have him do the work. He ran a GFI plug from our electrical box up through the attic and into our master bath. We highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again!

Overall - great. The one problem I have is that everything was completed in the 2 hour time frame, actually earlier than the 2 hours, yet I was charged for an additional hour. When I asked why, I was told I was paying for his drive time! WHAT! This is unacceptable. I respect Jay and his business, but his helper is charging customers unnecessarily.

I didn't realize they were out of my service area, but they were very nice about helping me get a refund.

The electrician was on time, courteous, knowledgeable and respectful. We liked their service enough that they are now are primary electrician.

The service turned out great. They did some outside wiring and replaced an inside switch. They also did some small electrical repairs, as well. They did their best to keep the cost down in materials. The technician was very professional, knowledgeable polite and accommodating. Scheduling was fairly easy.

Overall the price and quality of the work was excellent. The only issues were around some mis-communications. The reason I initially called as because of a cupon on the Angie's list entry. When I asked if this install would qualify he said he was trying to get the coupon taken down. When we talked about what I needed and how much his initial statement was $300 for the work and $25 for a permit. I sent an email to confirm the work, the date, and give contact info. In that mail I transposed two digits of my phone number. So he called back the next day via my wife (whose number I included correctly) and said I must have misheard because permits are more like $100-$150 depending on where we live. We discussed how I could have misheard but agreed that the work still needed to get done so continued on and gave him my correct phone number. The day before the work was to happen I sent another mail asking if we were still on since I had not heard from him. He emailed back saying he was still on and was trying to call to confirm but still using the incorrect phone number. So I emailed the correct number just in case. The day of the service I took the afternoon off work to be there to meet him. The window was between 1-3. At 2:45 I received a call saying the current job was running long and they were going to be ~2 hours late. I was a bit unhappy and this probably came through in my tone of voice because the response was, "I can't just pack up and leave from this job to come do yours", and "The arrival time was just an estimate". Anyway, once they did get to the house and get going the job went very quick and smooth and they did an excellent job. They rewired quite a bit of the panel the make room and the wiring job was well done running through the crawl space. He even gave me a heads up that there were signs of animal activity in the crawl space that I will want to address. Finally, to Jay's credit, he put in some extra effort to research the permit and was able to find a $39 option rather than the $100 option. So, at the end of the day, the work was great and the price was excellent (even my AC guy who came back to charge and turn on the unit said this was a deal. They usually pay closer to $500) but the mis-communication was a distraction and a concern.

Dollars well spent! He even pointed out things I did not know about our house.

After we reached a good appt date for all of us (Jay, Patrick *& myself, the homeowner), it was perfect. They showed up on time, and took down my 2 story glass chandelier and got the new one hung up within an hour. They made sure it was exactly the right height and that the arms of the chandelier were symmetrical. For just 3/4 of an hour more,(plus materials/switches) they were able to replace my doorbell and install 2 dimmer switches. Very nice people to work with...both Jay, and Patrick. They did an excellent job. I will most certainly hire them for any other electrical needs.

I originally spoke to Jay Bentley, the owner inquiring about some work I needed in order to sell my two houses that the buyers inspector found. Jay and his employee were both prompt, courteous and professional. The work was performed in a workmanlike manner and at what I considered a great value. From the initial walk through estimate to completion, everything was done in a week. If you need electrical work I highly recommend this contractor.

Patrick was this electrician who did the work. I gave a "B" for punctuality - but, really it was the fault of Portland traffic. Jay did a great job of keeping us updated as to estimated arrival times. He also called the next day to check up on how it went which was appreciated! Patrick did everything we needed and things we didn't know we needed while explaining carefully everything he was doing. We had purchased an Angie's list coupon for two hours of labor for a discount and Patrick worked very quickly, but professionally. He was very conscious of the time - running We went over the two hours because we kept finding things we wanted done and kept peppering him with questions. The man knows his electricity! The only thing we didn't realize, and this is probably a common practice, but the two hours included travel time which will eat into time if it's anything 3PM or after. It could have mentioned that when I purchased the coupon, but if it did I missed it. Patrick did tell us this as soon as he arrived. I spoke to a potential buyer today and I was able to tell them, with confidence, that the electrical had been updated and done correctly. Thank you, Jay Bentley and Patrick!

Jay and his helper Patrick are very attentive to details and work efficiently. They are careful to follow instructions of homeowner and take care not to make a mess. Thorough clean up afterwards. I like the fact that they recycle as much material as they can at Habitat and other centers. They are friendly and show up on time when expected. Jay's trucks look very professional and he carries a ton of stuff for unexpected needs. He answers questions in a helpful manner. A pleasure to work with.

I was extremely impressed with Bentley Electric, Inc. Jay is the owner and Patrick is his sole employee. They worked together and both showed up to complete the job. They started right away, did excellent work, and were very friendly. The task was done in a very timely manner. Our kitchen had an old cooktop that was on a 30 Amp line. We bought a new stove which required a 40 Amp service. They removed the circuit panel cover assessed the situation and began the task. A new hole had to be drilled in the bottom of the box, the new wire was run down to the crawl space and over to the kitchen (about 40 feet). The wire was then inserted up through the floor space to the stove area and a plug-in box was installed to plug in the stove. The whole job was done to perfection and they cleaned up everything after completion. It was noted that the delivery crew had pre-wired the cord onto the stove incorrectly and Bentley Electric re-wired it the proper way. I have other electrical projects that need to be completed, so I will definitely use them again and not even consider using another electrical contractor.

They were very good. The experience was very positive, they were on time, they were on budget, and they did good work. The technicians were very pleasant. Their price was very competitive, because I had other people to give quotes.

Great! Apparently several people had bought coupons with them, so between my busy work schedule and their schedules we did have some problems connecting, but nothing I had to do was emergent. I thought my first light fixture was going to take time, and it didn't, so greatly appreciated that he found things to do to take up the two hours I'd purchased! He was very nice and cleaned up after himself. I was very impressed. I will definitely call them if I ever need an electrician.

My address was outside of the area and so I didn't use the big deal, but I rearranged it separately, and he came out to do the work. His assistant didn't know as much as he did. I have nothing to compare the price, but is was fair. We had to get something redone by him, because his assistant did not do it right.
