It went well, as the technician worked steadily throughout the time of his visit. I assisted him with a couple of items pertaining to an outlet installation that involved him crawling around in our very low-clearance crawl space and my assistance was well received. A & J Electric was very highly recommended to us by a former customer and we chose them also because they are located in the same town we live in. They appear to be so highly regarded that their order file is extended out for weeks. Accordingly, we waited over a month for an appointment, but I would do so again, as I believe that good people are worth waiting for.

The electrician found that the job was easier than first thought. The charge was $170. It is not very often that you get a company that comes in under their estimate.
Description of Work: I needed an outlet mounted on the foundation for a sump pump. I sent photos and they were willing to give me an email estimate from $300 to $600.

Leeann at the front desk is incredibly responsive and professional in helping get our questions answered and schedule someone to come out. Hey a an j is easy to work with. They have good telephone support for scheduling and all the electricians who come into my house are very clean and pleasant and more importantly they get the job done and they do it right.
Description of Work: A and J electric they've done variety of jobs for me. Things like changing out the electrical boxes installing temporary electrical facility is just you name it and they're quite good at it and they're quite quick at it when Thry come around to the house. They get busy sometimes and so you have to wait a little while but this is not a big deal for me. And emergency of course Thry come over right away.

I had a very good experience from start to finish with A&J Electric. They returned phone calls promptly, arrived at the appointed hour, etc. Shawn explained everything he was doing. He was very knowledgeable and very professional. He answered questions about a couple of other items as well.

I've used them for the last couple of years. I've used them more extensively this past year. I had a combination of fuse and breakers in my home, and they changed it to just breakers. In the process of making my house look good to sell, I've had them change out all of outlets, switches and plugs. I like them so much that they are working on my new home currently.

It went great. Excellent communication, prompt visit to give quote. We accepted their quote and they scheduled work appointment for after parts would be delivered. The work was done all in one day to minimize the time our power would be out. Worker was professional and friendly. Very good experience.
Description of Work: Replaced our entire (old) fuse box in garage so it would be compatible with generator transfer switch. Also installed transfer switch and outlet. Did another transfer switch installation in a separate building (separate PGE account) including outlet as well (that fuse box did not need replacing). They coordinated the power shut off/on with PGE and also handled arranging the inspection.

They are very good. I worked specifically with Nick and he was extremely flexible with time and he got quite a lot of work done in a short amount of time. I have used them multiple times in the future.

Response from A&J ELECTRIC INC
This was a kitchen remodel where the owner requested all work be done without any permits. We informed him that we could not do the work without any permits. We also informed him prior to the bid that we couldn’t complete the project for anything close to $2000 he was asking for. There was a lot of work involved in his kitchen remodel. He insisted that we provide a bid anyways. At the time of the bid he had the sheet rock removed from the walls and he was in a hurry to get the project completed. It is safe to assume he has finished the project in the last 3 months based on the hurry he was in at the time. There were never any permits obtained for his project. A quick search online verified this. When a project is done without any permits it is very easy to cut corners and leave out portions of work that might be required per current electrical codes. There are no standards for the work that must be done if you do not have permits. He may have found someone that could do the work for half of the price, but there is nothing guaranteeing that the work is safe, legal or that the work was even done by a licensed and bonded company. Additionally, we never saw the scope of work that the other companies were basing their price on to verify we were bidding apple for apple.

He found that there was no problem with the wiring or Recirculation Pump and informed us that the pipes going to pump are clogged. So we will call a plumber again. He was very helpful.

The work was outstanding. They planned the work effort so that we never lost power to any key appliances or our computers - we are very pleased and highly recommend them. Everyone was very friendly, polite and professional.

he couldn't fix the issue of the fireplace not turning on because of the switch. told me to contact gas company instead. he worked for a very long time trying everything he could.

They did an excellent job. Bees shorted the power meter base and we were without power. Within one hour of my call they were on site addressing the situation. Within 2 hours repair work started and was completed the same day. By 8 PM PGE installed a meter and we had power once again. Very responsive and friendly people. Will definitely use A and J Electric again if needed.

Need additional work after completion. In response to their response: The inspection report stated that all wet outlets should be tested to ensure proper functionality, this would have included the non-working GFCI, I'm not sure why they didn't perform this during their inspection prior to their bid. I'd also like to clarify that the poor quality GFCIs mentioned above were NOT installed by Aand J, but by the previous owners. I still believe that if they would have done a more thorough inspection for their bid, these issues would have been resolved much easier as I would have had them repair all the problems.
Description of Work: They provided an estimate to replace the main circuit breaker, rewire a few overhead fans (that were installed by amateurs) and to replace all exterior, garage, and kitchen outlets with GFCI outlets. After completion of the project, I had my brother inspect the electrical repairs in the house (he's was a cert electrician in Utah) and found that the GFCI outlets installed were the cheapest quality, which led to several outlets not working. As I'm not local, my brother then replaced the faulty outlets as we couldn't get a response from A&J. Needless to say, they should have tested all the repairs they made before leaving the establishment.

Response from A&J ELECTRIC INC
I think there may have been some information that was not passed onto the member. After the project was complete the member's brother contacted us regarding 1 GFCI outlet that was not working. Our bid was to replace standard outlets with GFCI's in the required locations. There were some locations that already had GFCI's installed. The GFCI that was not working was an existing GFCI. Our electrician saw that there was already a GFCI outlet installed there and never touched it. We do not use the cheapest quality GFCI's. We use the Leviton brand. Our bid did not include checking existing devices or troubleshooting any existing problems. We were given a home inspection report and told to only bid what was on the report. The non-working GFCI was not in the inspection report. When the member's brother contacted us he told us that he was an electrician and he had already replaced the GFCI himself but that it still was not working. The problem was not a faulty device, but something else, perhaps a loose connection in another outlet, a cut wire or something along those lines. We gave him a few suggestions and told him to let us know if he would like us to return to repair the problem. After that, we did not hear back from the member or his brother so we assumed that he had found the problem.

Aand J responded to my initial call quickly and mailed a detailed estimate within two days. They were able to finish the work in less than a week. The gentleman who came out worked quickly, cleanly and thoroughly. I would definitely call them again in the future.
