Absolutely giving them a "F" rating. They came out, provided an estimate for repairs, I signed the contract, they were scheduled for repairs May 4th and repairs were due to be completed May 11th. Then, I never heard from them again. I kept asking for updates to see why the work wasn't completed, and what was going on, without any response. I then found out they never even applied for a permit through the City of Portland though they said they would. They just completely flaked on the job. Would not recommend this company at all, extremely unreliable.

We are quite pleased with the result of the grinding. We’d been patching with cement the various uneven areas on the sidewalk of our corner, city lot. But our decade of patching was beginning to crumble, so we called Safe Sidewalks to lengthen the life of our walks. Middle of flu season, so I phoned more often than usual to verify we were on their calendar. We would certainly use this service again.

Like so many homeowners in Portland, we received a notice from the City advising us that we had multiple sidewalk trip hazards in front of our house. The estimate from the City was for complete removal of the concrete to address the areas where the concrete was no longer level. Since all of the lifts were under 1" it seemed silly to remove the concrete. I contacted Safe Sidewalks to see about cutting the concrete instead. John quickly returned my phone call and was able to stop by the next day to inspect the sidewalk. He followed up with a bid via email (the bid from Safe Sidewalks was about 1/3 of the estimate from the City) that I accepted. In addition to being prompt, John was also able to help with my procrastination. I had waited a little too long to make repairs and only had 1 week left on the 60 day notice from the City. John made sure to pull the sidewalk repair permit from the City before the end of my 60 day window, which gave me an additional 30 days to complete the repairs. The work itself was done quickly and effectively. They arrived when they said they would and completed the repairs. No more trip hazards. John even requested the re-inspection from the City on my behalf. The inspector came the next day and signed off on the repairs. I would highly recommend Safe Sidewalks.
Description of Work: Safe Sidewalks cut multiple corners of the sidewalk in front of the house, including an area between the driveway and the sidewalk to remove trip hazards. Cost of service includes the $60 City permit.

I contacted Bryan in early September to get an estimate for shaving both ends of the sidewalk in front of our house. He said he would stop by to look at the problem and email me an estimate. I have heard nothing since, even though I have called Safe Sidewalks' phone number at least three time and left messages. I guess my project is too small for them to bother with, even to the extent of calling or emailing me to let me know.

Great job. Did exactly what he said he would do and did a great job. Clean, smoothed out the entire area where two slabs of concrete driveway had sunk creating a safety hazard. Ultimately, we'll need a new driveway but having it ground to level-out will buy us another 2 years before we have to replace it - and that helps. Looks great too.
Description of Work: Ground an 18' section of driveway that had settled and created a 1=2" lip, causing people to trip.

Tree roots had raised our sidewalks in several places. The problem was not severe yet, so we wanted to take care of it before it got any worse. Safe Sidewalks gave us their estimate. It was in line with other companies' prices. We thought the saw cutting would be a good solution and we were right. The company was very quick to get back to us and the estimate was very understandable. Bryan arrived promptly to do the work and explained what he was going to do. Everything looks great. The company is on the Beaverton list of concrete contractor and obviously Angie's List. In addition, another company that we had out to do an estimate suggested we contact them since their approach to the repair was more than we needed.

"It" Did not happen.
Description of Work: I called the company February 2nd and talked to Brian he said that they would come by on Monday after the weekend and give me a quote. I had the day off and waited. No one came. I never heard from them and today is Friday the 8th. It is very unprofessional not to call or follow through. Just for that I would not use their services. Update I got a phone call from him on Friday 15th and he said he was sorry but he had a cold and could not call.

Of all the companies I called, they were the only ones that called me back. It is not always the same person. The person that came was very concise with his description of the services. He said he would be here and he was. He got the job done and it wasn't very intrusive at all. It was a pleasant experience. His name was Bryan Dickson.

The letter I received from Safe Sidewalks indicated that I needed repairs to two spots on my sidewalk. I got a quote for one of the spots, but the company indicated that there had been too much of a rise in the concrete slab in the other spot for them to handle. I was able to convince them that it was still repairable since the slab did not have to be flat, it just couldn't have a trip hazard. Safe Sidewalks repaired both spots without any extra charge beyond the original quote. The city accepted the repairs. This was a great relief for me since the other option was to have the city hire a contractor to do the work. I expect that would have been more expensive.
Description of Work: The City of Hillsboro, OR sent notices to homeowners regarding required sidewalk repairs necessary to meet code. Safe Sidewalks came out to examine my neighborhood and sent quotes to the homeowners. The same company had done similar work in my neighborhood in the past. After allowing some time for the homeowners to respond, the company performed the work at the quoted price.

Brian did a great job, the the work was carefully done, the jobsite was vacuumed as he worked and swept after it was all done. Both Brian and John were considerate of my concerns and questions. I was worried about an adjacent exposed aggregate area being damaged and they explained their process and were careful to acknowledge they were aware of my concern. Really happy with the service and my sidewalk looks nice.. I really appreciate the excellent communication from John, nice use of e-mail, quick bid and really fast completion of the job. There are few contractors anymore who actually show up on time or care if they don't. Brain was running a little late and John called to let me know. When Brian arrived 20 minutess later, the first thing he did after introducing himself was apologize for being late! wow! Thanks for having integrity as a business!
Description of Work: I had a number of areas of my front sidewalt that were raised up from 1/3 inch to 3/4 of an inch above the surrounding walkway. The sidewalk is being pushed up by parking strip tree roots and had become a hazard. The majority of the sidewalk is in good level condition so I wanted to lessen the danger of a pedestrian tripping and avoid an entire sidewalk replacement. The area raised, ranged from a consistent 3/4 inch strip across the entire width of a sidewalk panel to some smaller raised areas in a number of locations. (6 total areas) Safe sidewalks came and cut/ground down the raised areas with their special machine. The machine creates a somewhat polished transition blending the raised area back to the sidewalk. It looks nice, and can be carefully done so it does not damage adjacent areas.

Neighbor called the city on me because one of my sidewalk squares was 1 inch higher than the rest. Called safer sidewalks. Arranged for them to slice off the slab to even it out. Did the work while I was at work one day. Never saw them, but everything was done just at they said it would be. Could be a company of Leprechauns, for all i know.

Safe Sidewalks was good. They were very prompt and professional. I would consider using them in the future. I did not use them for this job because I found someone with a little bit better references and that was cheaper.
