Paradise Group GC dba Paradise Homes

Our construction with Paradise Homes, GC Dennis Caudell began May 15, 2019. Upon meeting with Dennis Caudell, we were told our home would be built in 110 days. Our Certificate of Occupancy is dated February 4, 2020, 265 days from the start date, 155 days past the promised construction finish. Dennis uses a select few tradesmen who he has apparently used in the past. If they are busy, you wait. We waited for a house framer for 4 weeks, he finally used another framer who he had never used previously as his preferred framer was busy. We did not find Dennis to be our advocate in any way, he uses one of his few contacts and passes on the billings from the subcontractor and adds his 20%. Many of the bills lacked sufficient detail, for instance our last plumbing bill was $ 4005.00, no back-up what-so-ever. When asked for details, Dennis would only say that is all we can get. We did not find Dennis to be good a good communicator, just the opposite. We initiated various phone calls, emails, visits to the job site and would get vague responses to our inquiries, especially as to moving the project forward in a timely manner. We finally insisted on a weekly written update which we received although sporadically. Those updates contained few specifics and few details. When one of the subcontractors would become available he would request our presence on the job site at the last minute, sometimes with only hours notice to discuss any details. We do not complain about the quality of the build but rather the time frame and total lack of communication. We found it very frustrating to move the project forward. Perhaps this is typical of a new build, we had never constructed a new house previously. However if we were to ever build another home it would certainly be with another contractor, of that we are certain.
