Hood River Electric gave me a bid to upgrade the meter base and electrical panel. I was getting close to closing on my house and was on a time crunch. Lon worked with me and was able to get everything finished before we closed. The price came in under what the other electrician had bid. The price was fair and the work was done right. I would definitley hire again.

lon is distrustful of any payment outside of cashier's check, and then accuses you of deceit when you want to pay via more conventional (ie, modern) means. very sketch. stay away.

davyd , told me he was the owner and would sign my contract then he told me he would only pay by venmo I said I need a check for records he said that he was the owner he would sign the contract then he said his mom was the owner and she would sign the contract I asked for a cashier's check he said he couldn't do that then he told me his mom was the lessor not the owner I said I have to have a signature on the contract by the owner and you'll have to get somebody else if you can't get the owner to sign it he gave me an app for telling him that I need the owner on the contract and the owner's approval before I can do any work the man is a joke and has some serious problems I wish him luck you'll need it

My project went a little different direction so I ended up not hiring Hood River Electric (at least yet) but I wanted to write this review because I found Lon McDowell to be impressively responsive, knowledgeable and thorough in the way he worked with me on his proposal. It gave me a lot of confidence in him and his company and they will be the first call I make when I need electrical work in the future.

I needed an extra outlet put in my office.
Description of Work: I normally don’t write reviews but I feel compelled to write one here. I needed a small job done. Just an extra outlet in my office for a wall tv. All it took was extending from an outlet below. Hood river called me right away and quoted me a decent price. I had requested a recessed outlet to be able to plug a low profile tv in. When the electrician arrived my wife was there. He brought a normal outlet. When she asked about the recessed outlet he quoted her at least an extra 100 dollars (although they are in the range of 10 dollars) and said he would just move the outlet higher on the wall because he “didn’t want to have to come back”. I talked to him on the phone he said this would work I thought hey he probably does this all the time ok let’s do it. When I got home, my wife said she had to clean up after his mess. I thought whatever it is in not a big deal. Well I went to install the tv and it was in the exact wrong spot for the bracket. I called back to see if there was anything we could do to get it fixed. He blamed me for the placement, told me it would cost another 160 dollars to come back out and fix it (the original quoted price so I would now be 320 dollars in) and he doesn’t do patchwork so I would have to fix the hole in my Sheetrock. I know mistakes are made and I don’t blame anyone for that. But, what was really disheartening was he had no interest in making it right and was too busy for the time of day. Eventually I had to get this job fixed myself and wasted money and time with this company. I would choose someone else in the future.

not true at all , Mr [Member Name Removed] is truth challenged, we moved the receptacle 6 inches and got a call 3 weeks saying it wouldn't work, I said I would come back for free and once I got there would charge by the hour he agreed , I called him or he called me told him I was helping my son move, back to Oregon, and wouldn't be back for a while, during this time he blew up my phone and email threatening me, I decided not to come back, one morning recently I found him parked in my driveway filming me ! I'm on the border of filing a restraining order, don't work for this person there's something wrong with him.i told him the resest outlet would take making a big hole and Frame the box in would be 2 hours work before I came out never talked to his wife about anything, just him I put the outlet where we discussed, not moving for free

Went well. Minor emergency. Electrician came same day, brought the right part, and fixed it quickly. Explained work necessary to make sure this doesn't happen in future, and gave me a few weeks to decide if I wanted to do this additional work now.
