It has been non functioning since purchase. I reported it 3 times to the Eugene store and have been told a variety of things non of which were the problem. They referred me to www.GEAppliances.com 1800GECARES. Home Depot said it is not their problem, even though they sell the product and it has a one year warranty I did not purchase the Home Depot three year warranty. They also said I had not returned it in thirty, I had complained within thirty days but this option was not told to me. aI called the above GE number a few weeks ago , a tech was sent out who sais " there is nothing wrong with the refrig it is just too warm and the freezer is too cold" he then turned up the dial which increased the freezer temp and burnt the food. I returned to home depot and was given the same spiel again. No help. I called GE again, a tech came out and foudn styrofoam in the freezer vent and thought that was the problem. I liked him he tried to problem solve however by today the Jan7th, the a refrig compressor was not going on at all and the food was all warm and possibly ruined. Lucky we did not get food poisoning. I called GE again and was told no one can come out until Jan 14th. We want someone out afternoon of Jan 7th or anytime Jan 8 or 9th. I was told this is not an option. We have a non functioning refrigerator. We want it replaced or a refund provided ASAP so we can purchase a different refrigerator. I feel Home Depot should provide us with a credit towards a different refrigerator and they can work this out with GE.
Description of Work: Was unable to sell appliance from store , refered us to Sherwood store where we made the purchase from home depot , it was deleivered on the above date to 2080nWashington S

Purchased a new french door stainless steel Whirlpool refrigerator on the 31st of May. The ice maker was very slow to make ice. It was a unit with a tray in the refrigerator that drops down into the door for dispensing. Called Home Depot and they sent out a repair person. He adjusted the temperature of the frig. Still very slow to make ice, it all stacked up in the back of the tray and wouldn't dispense unless we opened the ice maker up and pulled the ice forward. Called Home Depot, they sent out the same repair person, after he ordered a new ice maker, (one month later), He installed the new ice maker, which didn't make ice at all. Called Home Depot again, waited for a Whirlpool person to come out. He said that is the way it should work. Asked Home Depot to take back the defective refrigerator and purchased a different model, a GE. It was delivered on the 21st of Sept., on the 22nd, we came home to water all over the floor of the kitchen. The Home Depot delivery people had nicked the ice maker water lines on the front door jam bringing it in. Home Depot said they would get a repair person out about the end of October, since they were all booked up and it had to be a GE repair person , so in the mean time to shut off the water to the unit. The water had caused some damage on the wood floor in the kitchen. Mentioned this to the current manager and they said "OH, too bad." but offered to deliver another unit. They wanted to pick up the old unit on Wed. and deliver the new one on the following Saturday. Totally not acceptable. Throughout this ordeal, we talked to four different managers. One called and actually worked at another store. We were told they had lost 4 managers in one week. When the Whirlpool was returned and we went into the store to make sure we were credited for its purchase, we waited about 45 minutes, standing around waiting for the customer service person to verify that the refrigerator has been brought back to the store. She couldn't locate the delivery people, and she said she couldn't credit us until she knows for sure and generally it is 48 hours before they can credit the customer. At this point we had two refrigerators on our credit card. At this point we went to a local appliance store that gave us excellent customer service with a delivery in 2 days. They did a 6 month same as cash deal. That would give us time to straighten out the financial mess on our credit card, thanks to two refrigerators. Will never use Home Depot again. They are totally unprofessional. While they tried to keep us happy, they dropped the ball all along this 4 month ordeal.
Description of Work: sold us two refrigerators. one in May and one on the 21st of Sept.

Generally, the people over there help us. They are easily available, useful and usually know what they are talking about. You have a handful of people and they are available!

In March I paid Home Deport $50.00 for an estimate. This fee, which NO ONE else in town charges, was deducted from the cost of the flooring and installation IF I purchased it from Home Depot. The measuring person came on time, and was pleasant, altho he could give me no information about special installation issues. Several days later I rec'd a call from a Home Depot call center (not the local store). I was unable to talk, and asked that they call back the next day (Friday) after 1PM. They finally called back on Tuesday of the next week. When I asked why they hadn't called on Friday, she was snippy, and said they had 6000 estimates to deal with and were busy. When they emailed the estimate, I compared it to online pricing. The flooring was not in stock at the store, altho they had the samples. Not only were the 60 boxes of flooring $10/box less expensive online, but they would ship for free to the house. The store estimate came in almost $1000 higher than ordering online, and I had to figure out how to get it all home. I asked the store for the online price. They wouldn't give it to me, and explained that they "made up for" the store advertised whole house install price of $497 that way. I asked if I could just order it all online, as they have a "check here for installation" box, and the SAME offer online. They couldn't "transfer" the $50.00 estimate if I did that. But the installation would still come thru my local store. We ended up with me ordering 59 boxes of flooring and parts online, and a $497.00 install and one box of overpriced flooring from the store. When all the flooring came in, I went in and asked about scheduling the installation (which I had had to prepay, of course), and was told that a fax would be "automatically"generated to the installation coordination center in Portland. After five days, and two phone calls, I went in to see why I hadn't gotten a call from the installation people in the promised two days. It took them over 1/2 hour at the installation desk to find an "authorized" employee to call Portland and ask if the mythical fax had arrived. But by then the Portland office was closed. I blew up, and gave them until noon the next day. When Portland called me the next day, they asked about a particular date, but had the wrong day of the week to match it. The install center uses local businesses to do the installations, and I suspect it's luck of the draw who you get. I was very fortunate to get Colortile (west 11th) and they were fabulous. I was thrilled with the work, their professionalism and how they treated my home. They cleaned up completely, and finished in the promised time. I would NEVER deal with Home Depot on this type of project again. The people at the store were always lovely, and often really tried to help, but the corporate system there completely ties their hands and they are unable to "fix" any issues themselves. No one is ever allowed to do anything on their own, and it seems no one is responsible for anything.
Description of Work: Purchased and installed Pergo laminate flooring in living room, dining room, hall, and two bedrooms. I removed all the carpeting, tack strips and baseboards prior to installation. As I was replacing the baseboards, they did not need to re-install the removed baseboards, or do much prep work. Home Deport uses a Portland based - installation coordinator to arrange for local businesses to do the actual installation.

A customer can get good value at Home Depot, but here is one thing that happened to me and I forewarn other potential customers. I wanted to buy a hot water heater from their store in Eugene. I could get no help from any sales person. The one who did know water heaters couldn't come from the lunch room to answer any questions. Also, the business had no brochures on electric water heaters. That's when I made my mistake. I phoned the number Home Depot plasters all over the area near the hot water heaters. I thought it was a link to Home Depot, but whatever the connection is, it isn't a clear link to Home Depot. The sales person I reached on this number did not tell me the truth about much: not about the company installing the heater, not the costs I would face, not the time they would do the installation, not the truth about the 10% reduction in price Home Depot would honor. When the installation company did show up (with a truck from the state of Washington, not Oregon) I learned of new (hidden) costs, some optional, some necessary. My experience with this whole situation is very bad. I recommend people to be very careful with Home Depot and whoever it is you reach on their hot water heater hot line.
Description of Work: Purchase and installation of 40 gallon, electric hot water heater.

In 2005, we made an appointment to have our kitchen measured, and paid a deposit. After 3 weeks, no one called, so we contacted Home Deport. They'd misplaced our order. After the measuring and estimating were done, we ordered the remodel. We spent a weekend tearing out the kitchen to the bare walls to be ready for the Monday start date. By 1:00pm on Monday, no one had showed up, so I called Home Depot. Home Depot's subcontractor--Double D of Corvallis--had forgotten to schedule the work, and scrambled to rearrange their schedule to start the next day. Double D's work was sloppy; their main interest was getting the job done a fast as possible. As an example, they didn't bother to hang plastic to screen off the kitchen, and when they tore out the drywall, it left a coating of dust and dirt on everything in the adjoining living room and dining room. They didn't take the old drywall to the dump, but left two huge boxes in the garage for us to deal with. After the countertops were installed, they appeared unlevel, but we were assured they would look all right after "everything was back." My spouse met with the Home Depot store manager who assured us everything would be fine. We asked Home Depot's installment manager to have Double D patch gaps and holes left by their drywall work; he said they would, but they didn't. Also, Home Depot and Double D installed a microwave hood range, but didn't hook up the vent because "we couldn't find it." They couldn't find it because they had knocked it down during the drywall replacement--and didn't bother to check the attic. We also asked them to install pieces of maple trim for areas where the cabinets met the walls--as provided by Kitchenmaid. They said they would. The trim is still sitting in box.
Description of Work: Contracted with Home Depot kitchen cabinet department. Work involved removing old drywall in kitchen, installing new drywall, new Kitchenmaid cabinets, and countertops.

The cabinets were delivered as scheduled. KraftMaid staff stacked the new cabinets in my living room in a careful professional manner. All cabinets were present and as ordered. All cabinets were in good condition. The quality of construction was uniform and reasonable. During installation and as expected, some adjustments were required and there was sufficient room in the original design for these adjustments. Molly was very helpful throughout the process.
Description of Work: We remodeled our kitchen with some wall modification, new cabinets, and a new cabinet layout. We were not looking for inexpensive cabinets. We were looking for reasonably good quality cabinets containing no particular board and top quality drawer slides as well as various accessories. After considerable shopping, we found that KraftMaid cabinets met our requirements. Molly Wollen provided a new kitchen layout based upon our measurements and stated desires. The new kitchen layout included computer generated drawings of the new cabinets. The cabinets were ordered through Molly but delivered by KichenMaid to our house. When delivered, all of the cabinets were in cardboard boxes. While installation is available through Home Depot, I installed these cabinets myself.
