Sears Appliance Repair

Very well. I have an old dryer and Kevin the repairman, had the parts on hand. The repair went smoothly and quickly. Would recommend Sears to friends and family.

Repair man was supposed to be there between 1 and 5pm. He showed up around 6 and never called to say he was running late. He didn't seem to know much about my dishwasher. He drained it and ran a short cycle without completing it and said it was working ok. He called back to his experts and they didn't seem to be responsive either. I ran the dishwasher the next day and it did the same thing it had been doing. I paid $89 for this "service". The next day I enrolled in "Just Ask" and got a knowledgeable answer for $5. Wish I had done that first.

Really well. I learned a lot about the appliances and it has effected future maintenance.

Went well until the repairman said it would be six months to fix it. Six months!! And his explanation made no sense. We'll order the part online and fix it ourselves; just like we did to replace a burner because the cost was too high.

Replaced part for the burner temperature that was badly burnt and arcing. "he" said if I needed to adjust to simmer/warm something to change burners. Seriously?!!! Fortunately the burner is working as it should. He checked the oven temperature and said it was OK, I am not 100% certain that it is but will continue to monitor. For the amount charged for the service alone, I seriously considered purchasing a new range.

Everything was great except I never received an email with statement. There was no paperwork. I ordered a silverware holder for the dishwasher but it hasn’t come. The shelf for the refrigerator came right away but am still looking for the silverware holder to come. There is a number to call on my credit card so maybe I can get info that way. The person was very personal and knew what he was doing.

When the repairman came, he could not find any leaks. He ran his fingers over the seals and said he couldn't find anything to repair. He then told me that I owed him $159. I said it was supposed to be $59 and he said that the $59 was for him just to come out, that the extra $100 was for checking it out. I refused to pay that amount and showed him the email I had received from Sears. He then said he could write it up as a different code and it would be less. He kept saying that with the $159 I would get extra free service if it leaked again. I continued to tell him that I should only have to pay $59 and we were at an impasse. My husband returned home and the conversation continued. In order to get him out of our house I paid him $80 and he left. I plan to go to the local Sears store and talk with the appliance manager to complain about this poor service.

The repairperson efficiently assessed the problem, located the appropriate repair kit and fixed the problem on the same visit. I was pleased that he had the necessary part on the truck so I did not have to schedule a second visit. I had been given an appointment window, but the repairperson was unable to make it during the promised time. He called in advance to alert me of the delay. I understand that it's impossible to predict how long any one appointment might take, and so I do not take points off when appropriate communication is attempted. He was apologetic and happy to come at a late hour to accommodate my problem. A very pleasant and efficient experience. I would recommend this service to friends. An Angie's List 20% off coupon for this service was used without any difficulty, and it saved me approximately $40.

Sears originally quoted a time frame for repair between 8 and 12. Guy never came, said he did, lied about it to Sears, they caught him, and they did nothing about it. We had to switch around our whole day to wait for this guy and he never showed up. Thought it was a one time deal, but a few days later Sears gave another time frame between 8-12 and then changed it at 10 AM to between 5-6:30 at night. Terrible service, DO NOT go with Sears. It is a joke.

Sears technician did not arrive with the correct parts, then ordered the wrong parts and couldn't perform the service on the second visit, botched the initial repair of my refrigerator and had to come back, and also overcharged me for the service. Upon calling Sears, they agreed I was overcharged, and then one month later, I am still trying to get a refund. Decided to cancel my second service (part of the same order) given how lousy the service on the first appliance went. Absolutely abysmal service. Steer clear unless you want to have your time and money wasted.

We did not pay any extra for the service because the machine was on warranty. I always recommend them. We have used their appliances for about twenty years now. I always buy sears wash machines, dryers, hand tools and all that. I would definitely use them again.

That went okay. He came out, did what he’s supposed to, he was pleasant and he was fine. So far they have been pretty good. The service was just what you expect. You don't expect them to come out and be Mr. Personality, entertain you or anything like that. You just want them to come out, do what they are there for and get out of here. That's what he did.

We have bee using them for about 15 years. He came with a guy that wasn’t old and he wasn’t young and he just stood there and let the other guy do everything. And I said what’s the reason the other guy is here. He just stood there and he looked around and he made me feel uncomfortable. I wrote Sears a letter because I shouldn’t go through that. The guy who did the job was fine.

He was real helpful and it was timely. He didn’t charge us anything. We called them, they got here and we told them what the problem was and he made sure he was doing it right.

Pretty well, we bought a stove from them and one of boards went out in it within a year after buying it and they came out and replaced it did a good job of it. They got it fixed the first time.

My husband and I were out in Arizona and we had a house sitter here and we had a pipe under the floor going from the sink to the refrigerator for the water line and it sprung a leak. I remember it didn't take very long and it seemed pretty expensive. The quality of work was fine. It was the Sears refrigerator that's why we called them. They could have charged less.

The gentleman came on time and did a good job. They were a very dependable company.

The install was supposed to be an afternoon event. I was called in the morning and told that sears had overbooked their installers, and needed to install hers in the morning. I had to rearrange my day to accommodate this. When installers arrived they had forgotten tools, so had to go back and get them. About a week and a half after the washer/dryer was installed my mother-in-law came over and said "I think I can hear water running behind the washer." I went over, and sure enough, the sound of running water. Nothing on the floor, but water going somewhere. We pay for our water here biased on how much we use, so running water is a big deal, since I use lots of water on the garden and don't want to pay for water that is being wasted. I called Sears and talked to the owner, Fred. I told him that there was water running somewhere in the washing machine that they had just installed. First he said they just sale and install them, they don't make them, and I needed to call the 1-800 number. I told him that they had installed it and I expected him to fix it since I felt the installation was the problem. He then said they were real backed up and he could get someone here in a couple weeks. I reminded him of the house full of appliances I have purchased over the years and I expected someone here the next day. The repairmen showed up a couple days later and fixed the installation problem. I have purchased many appliances over the years from our local Sears because I like to keep as much of my money as I can in our small town, but I will not be buying more appliances from them in the future. If the other, very small appliance store in town doesn't have what I need, I will try ordering through them or go to the local Home Depot.
