The initial quote was very reasonable. The contractor arrived on time and stayed a couple hours late to finish the job. The quality of work was exceptional. The amount billed was $275 less than the amount quoted even with a change order to add an independent switch for the pendants . I used Reynolds because of their reputation for quality, value and honesty and I'm not disappointed.
Description of Work: Installed 10 new can lights, 4 ceiling fixtures for pendants and a chandelier, 1 ceiling outlet, replaced multiple switches and outlets.

They came in 45 minutes, and were gone in 15. I had some other people at my house that were there to in-voice me. They did a really good job, they were quick, and very understanding. They didn't charge me extra for coming right away.

Very punctual. Got right to work on setting up . Did the upstairs lights first. Kitchen lights were next done quickly. Changed out all the patio lights which are pretty high. The last area was the living room. Some of these lights are at least 27ft high but he figured out how to get to them safely. He also figured out our electrical problem. He did a great job setting up and taking down. I would have them again. Price was reasonable.

He was very good and polite but he actually left and started driving away without having turned the electricity back on. He fixed it but it did not get fixed. I would probably call them again but I would ask for an older technician because the guy that came out was very young and did not seem experienced.

The electrician that was dispatched to your home is 32 years old and has been a licensed electrician for 10 years. He started working with us as a delivery driver 11 years ago. I spoke with this employee at length about the work that he did at your home. I would like to offer an explanation (not an excuse) of the events that took place: We dispatched an electrician to repair a “GFCI outlet that [wouldn’t] reset”. After replacing the GFCI outlet, our electrician verified that the new GFCI had electricity to it. In hindsight; our electrician should have verified that not only was the original GFCI outlet that he replaced bad, but this particular circuit had a broken neutral conductor in a separate junction box. Fortunately, you stopped our electrician in your driveway and he was able to quickly identify the ‘broken neutral’ issue. Our GPS records indicate that on April 13th, 2012 our electrician left the previous jobsite at 12:58 pm and arrived at your home at 1:17 pm (19-minutes of one-way travel time). He worked at your home from 1:17 until 3:12 pm (2-hours). We only invoiced you for 1.5 hours of labor at $75/hr, for a total of $112.50. After giving you a 5% senior discount the total invoice came to $106.87. I hope that you feel that forgoing an hour of labor charges ($75) and the cost of the replacement GFCI ($15), for a total credit of $90 (plus the senior discount) made up for any inconvenience that you experienced. The electrician forgot my appointment, but as soon as I called the office, they redirected him to me and he ended up only being a couple of hours later than I'd expected. His work was done very quickly and professionally, and since they charge by the hour, he asked if there was anything else in the house that needed doing. There wasn't; my whole bill was just for one hour's work (their minimum) and the cost of the cord ($5). Instead of paying right then, they billed me, which I really liked. The whole experience was great, and I'll definitely use them again.

I called Reynolds and scheduled them to replace a light fixture. The person said that he would be at the house at a certain time, but never showed up. When I called him to see why he didn't show up, he said that he "spaced it." Not that big of a deal, but definitely unprofessional, and I doubt I would use them in the future because of it.

It’s difficult to articulate how disappointed I am about receiving this report. We currently have 34 total reports on Angie’s List; 30 of those are “A” grades, 2 of them are “B” grades, and this is our first “F” grade. Although I do not have an excuse for letting you down, I find it necessary to explain how the anomaly occurred: Upon your initial call, our dispatcher explained to you the difficulty of accommodating an appointment time of 3:00 P.M. We typically can only ‘guarantee’ an exact appointment time if the appointment is the first call of the day (usually 8:00 A.M.). If a client is not willing or able to be the first call of the day for one of our electricians, we offer a couple-hour window of time that our electrician will arrive at their home/business. This is necessary because of the fact that you cannot predict the exact amount of time that each job will take. As is the case in this particular situation, we always discourage a start time late in the afternoon. If the jobs earlier in the day run longer than anticipated, we are left with two options; either reschedule the job, or charge the client our overtime rate (because we will have to pay our electrician overtime) in order to do the project after hours. The difficulty with scheduling an appointment late in the work day was adequately conveyed to you by our dispatcher. Where we failed you was in neglecting to contact you in the afternoon to let you know that we wouldn’t be able to make it to your home right at 3:00. Knowing how we ended up in this situation does not alleviate us of full responsibility for it. I’m not sure what else to say other than we’re all human. That Friday (02/17) happened to be a very busy day for us. Although our dispatcher is the best in the business, he unintentionally neglected to contact you. As hard as we strive to always do right by our customers, we’re not immune to mistakes. The offer that our dispatcher gave to you when you called that afternoon still stands; we would be happy to make special accommodations for you by offering to be at your home, any time of the day, at a specific time (not a couple-hour window). I would very much appreciate getting the opportunity at a second chance to show you why the Angie’s List members that we’ve worked for think so highly of our company. The young man arrived as scheduled . He was very courteous and went about his work quickly. He had to go into the attic to install the bathroom plug-in. My only complaint is that he left some mud on the hallway carpet and chipped a little paint on a bathroom cabinet with the tool he had hanging from his waist. I don't think he realized he had done either thing and I didn't complain because I didn't see it till later.
Description of Work: I had a light moved in my laundry room because I thought the wiring was unsafe. I had a wall plug-in installed in a bathroom. I had a ceiling fan removed from one bedroom and installed in another bedroom. I was going to have an electrical outlet installed on the back of the house, but changed my mind because the work would have been more involved than I realized. As I remember, I think I described the work I wanted done over the phone and got the estimate that way and we set up the time and day.

I contacted the company about three weeks before the house was expected to close. I asked if we could set up a time then but we agreed to phone once it was closed and we had the keys and then we could set a date. I phoned after closing and we set a date the next week. He showed up on time and we reviewed the work to be done. He advised us on an external wiring issue which showed up in the inspection. He corrected the polarity problems and installed six new light fixtures. He secured a couple of external lights.

We forgot to have a light installed before we scheduled the apt. to have our pool table set up & by the time we realized that the light fixture needed to go first there were only a few days left (the pool table apt was not easy to re-schedule). I called around to MANY electricians & they were the first & only ones to respond with a promise of next day service. The guy showed up, checked it out, explained our options & once we agreed he got right to work. The light was set up very straight (important for over an expensive pool table!) and the price was fair especially for next day service! BTW, next day service for us was not an easy task as we live FAR out in the mountains (thats why no one else wanted to take the time to come all the way out here asap)! Thanks again for responding so quickly & a job well done! The pool table guys even commented on the great job he did with the light :)

Their service was good. They got right back to us and sent somebody out in a timely manner to give us an estimate. They were able to get it completed really quickly, which was good. They only sent out one technician and I had to help him a lot. The guy that came was great but he really needed another person with him because it was a complicated job. He said that because of the economy he didn't have another technician there to help him. Everything else was great. The price was pretty reasonable. There is one outlet that we can't get something in it so we need to call them back out.
Description of Work: We used Reynolds Electric to wire a spot for a microwave niche because we were doing a kitchen remodeling. They also did some upgrading because we have a 1950's house. They also put in another new outlet where we needed it and they switched out the stove form a 3 to a 4 prong outlet.

You mentioned that you "can't get something in it"- It sounds to me like your're experiencing difficulties with a (code required) tamper-proof outlet. Tamper-proof outlets are designed to keep children from being able to stick objects into the outlet. By design, you must apply equal pressure to both of the prongs on the end of the cord that you're plugging-in to it. If more pressure is applied to one of the two prongs, the outlet will not allow the plug to be inserted. Please contact us if you continue to experience issues with the outlet. I had a friend replace an old but working bathroom fan / light / heater about a year ago. After he finished only the fan and light would work but not the heater. I lived with that for a year and another friend offered to try to fix the heater but things ended up being worse. My friends knew just enough to be dangerous. Mike from Reynolds arrived right on time and had it fixed in about 30 minutes. I was very pleased and will use Reynolds when I need another electrician and I will feel comfortable in recommending Reynolds to my friends.

We decided to install a transfer panel to accommodate a portable generator that would run our refrigerator and freezer during power outages. I actually looked for an electrician on Angie's List because we are members and I believe there is no better reference than satisfied customers. Tony came out and gave us an estimate, explained everything that needed to be done and why. He was very professional, friendly, and obviously knows his business. Tony was also very helpful to us in answering questions regarding the type and size of portable generator we would need. We ordered our generator, and as luck would have it it was missing 3 parts. We eventually received the 3 missing parts but not without a lot of frustration, with only 2 of the 3 being sent initially, and after badgering the supplier, who in turn badgered the manufacturer. I kept Tony informed and he was more than patient with us throughout this entire saga. We finally scheduled the work well over 2 months after the initial estimate. The invoice was right on, the work was done well, permits were arranged, inspection was arranged, and we are now ready for our next major power outage when that occurs. We would recommend Reynolds Electric without hesitation. They're a first class operation, knowledgeable, and friendly folks.
Description of Work: A transfer panel was installed inside our house, which meant a hole had to be cut in our wall. A receptacle was installed outside into which the generator will be plugged. Unfortunately, the generator didn't come with the proper cord so the electrician built one. The electrician drove a mandatory 8' grounding rod into the ground and tested our generator to make sure it was in working order before completing the job.
