She had the chair for over a year, and would not return my calls asking about the progress. I was finally able to pick up the chair so someone else could do the work.

I also wish I did not have to write this review but I feel I must warn others. Janet, the owner and her husband are very personable people and sweet as can be. The work was good but like the other reviewer stated, they lack in customer service and they are not professional in the handling of their clients. They completed the work on my 8 dining chairs and then I waited and waited and waited to hear from them about my chair.. I absolutely could not get a hold of them. I e mailed, I left numerous phone messages and even a message here on the Angie's list site... I thought I would never see my chair again, I finally wrote a rather stern e mail and they finally called. Janet was very apologetic, said she had been ill but when you are running a business you appoint someone to reach your clients for you and explain the delay...that is just how it is done. I was hoping that I was the only customer that this has happened to but now I see other reviews on Yahoo and the member from here that had the exact same issues as I had. My advice to Janet is to get it together, you have a gold mine here don't throw that away.. In the future, I will only be using businesses from Angie's list that have more than 10 reviews and I will also check other review sites as well....Members, please write reviews on services you have used here (good or bad) it helps all of us. On a lighter note, to date I have used 6 companies from Angie's list and had great results... everything from new gutters to painting to window washing. I gave good reviews on all...

A Yahoo reviewer wrote that the work performed by Millie's Upholstery is excellent, but that the current owner, Janet, who apparently took over the business from her retired mother, has wonderful skills but absolutely no business sense, and is somewhat of a and quot;space cadetand quot; I agree. We had two pieces to do, An antique, channel back couch to rebuild and a more modern sleeper sofa to recover, and based on an excellent Angie's List recommendation, we called her and she came out fairly quickly. She took the antique couch first, but it was literally months before we heard from her again and then only after a rather pointed email did she deliver the couch, beautifully rebuilt and repaired, but would not take any payment since she had had it so long. At that time she took the sleeper sofa. Again it has been months, and despite repeated phone calls (left messages on her answering machine), an email and even a visit to her establishment (no one but a cat and several dogs responded to the door bell, though her business van and several vehicles were in the driveway), we have yet to received a response. Although Janet is personable and friendly, and I am somewhat reluctant to give this review, I feel I have no choice. Her behavior is strange, to say the least--and we are still without the sleeper sofa, which I would be happy to take back in any condition. I wonder if the excellent Angie's list reviews were made when her mother was still in control of the business--the name is the same. It's a shame that a person with such wonderful skills and congenial personality is so negatively affected by a lack of business sense. I do hope she can acquire it in the future.

They were quick, friendly and on time.

It went very well! Janet came to my house to measure my kitchen nook for cushions. I had already purchased the foam and materials. From my first contact with Janet on the phone, I liked her. Janet was so nice on the phone, reassuring me about the details of the project as I know nothing about sewing! She came the next day after our phone conversation and picked up the foam and material, quoted me a very reasonable price, and off she went to make the cushions. She delivered them today. She was friendly, knowledgeable, extremely professional. I would not hesitate to give her my business in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Had a difficult time connecting with her initially- but once we did she was prompt and kept me updated on the progress. I selected fabric and chose foam depth and density at local upholstery supply store. Millies's measures the space and advised on best fit. Millies picks up materials and TA DA- new cushions. She didn't like how they fit and took them back and adjusted the cushions in just a few days. And most important to me- seem like honest, good people!
