I originally thought the work would be done in January, during winter dormant season, but he said August would be better, during summer dormancy, where they could easily see the dead vs live branches. So, they rescheduled to come in August. But, I had to call and remind them about the appointed date! The original bid was $600, but I didn't locate it when he asked what he had bid, I thought around $800, so that's what he charged. Later, I found the original bid. I'm not sure what the going rate is for this type work, so maybe it's a fair price. He had a crew do most of the work, but he also brought in a cherry-picker crane to do the larger work. They worked very efficiently, and were done in about 4 hours. They cleaned up very nicely after themselves. I wish another limb had been removed to let more light in the yard, but he discouraged it. I suppose he didn't want to be too aggressive on an old tree. (Probably 60 years old.) Now that the tree is actively growing again, I see quite a few small dead branches still up there, but all in all I was pleased. We haven't had any big limbs come down this winter as many others have in the neighborhood. Because this tree is an unusual variety, it's hard to know how long it will live, but I feel this work by Jim Cummins has helped extend it's life.

Mr. Cummings went "above and beyond the call of duty" to help us with our trees. He gave us a "more than fair" bid. He arranged to have the electric company drop the power lines. He notified the neighbor of the process and with grace, he endured unexpected verbal abuse and threats. He did an amazing job of considering the well-being of the tenants, the liability of the land owners, and the desires of the neighbors, never losing his focus on safety nor the integrity of the trees. He did a nice job cleaning up the area. I highly recommend this company to anyone, especially those who need help with large trees. He has the equipment and the credentials to do an excellent job!

They arrived on time, began work immediately, conducted themselves professionally and finished well within the time estimated, and at the cost estimated. The tree was located in our fenced backyard and they were able to get their equipment into the back yard, lay the tree down and didn't damage anything. It was a lot of tree in a relatively small space.

Following the "big storm" I had James and his crew do clean up, tree removal and branch removal. As always, his crew was prompt, handled all the work in about 90 minutes, and did full clean up. I have used James' services over the past 20 years for pruning, shaping and tree removal, and every work situation has exceeded my expectations and needs. I recommend him to friends and neighbors without hesitation.

I just like his very thorough knowledge. I like the way he said he was going to remove the tree because one of the other methods made me nervous. I really like his expertise and the price is good.

I like him a lot; he is very good. I have used him myself and I refer him to my clients. He is ecologically sensitive, fair, careful and economical about it.

The service was excellent. They are very efficient. They are very knowledgeable. They do excellent work. They take care of the property; they don’t destroy anything while they take the trees down.

Guys came out and did a really nice job on the pruning that was long overdo -- professional and friendly. Had them remove several overgrown and/or dead plants/trees as well. The only way I could tell they were at the house was that the work was done. Super good job cleaning up after the job was done. I've done business with other guys and they never did as good a job making sure it was clean when finished -- A+. I probably wouldn't use them just for removal as they are kind of expensive but they know what they are doing when it comes to trimming and pruning and are worth every penny for that. I would consider them for other landscaping work in the future.

They have been here a number of times. They came when they said that they would come. I do installation for an audio business and I dislike people who did not act professionally. They were very professional and very honest. Their price was very reasonable. They were reliable and did good work. Even if they had any problem with the work, they would not charge more. They had a problem when they came out last time as one of the trees did not come down. They had to cut it in two different places to bring it down which looked very peculiar. I did not want to be anywhere near when they were cutting. It was good to see them. I could understand their frustration. They did a good job.

They were on time and did their job quickly. They cleaned up everything well.

I had called two other tree companies as well as James for a large tree removal. I had had James do some smaller tree removal work before with great results. James bid came in about 40% lower than the other companies, and I was confident that he would do good work. He was a former logger and has done re-plantings, etc. in Oregon forests. He removed the tree, repaired damage to a fence that happened because of a tree limb, and did immaculate clean up. Everything was done safely and completely for him, his helper and for my home.
