Description of Work: I had Robert Hegarty hook up a water line for my new refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser on Feb. 27, 2012. As always, he was right on time, professional and did an excellent job. I've used his plumbing services twice previously -- first in 2007 to install 2 new bathroom sinks and then a few weeks ago to repair a leaking toilet and unclog 2 drains. I would highly recommend him.

Description of Work: I was recently having new flooring installed in my house. When we moved the refrigerator, we found a leak. I called the plumber and he came out and looked at it. He said that he thought that the plumbing had been leaking since we had lived there. He fixed the plumbing and made us aware of problems that were with the floor. There was mold and a lot of the sub-floor was missing.

Description of Work: Asked him to repair or replace the outdoor faucets, front & back, which were difficult to turn on and off completely, at my Home. Just purchased this house 6 mos. ago, and knew and could see these faucets were REALLY old !! He warned it could be a big job, might need to replace faucets altogether, do some work on the pipes, etc.. I told him it was worth it- I wanted to have theses faucets working in the BEST condition. He showed up, spoke barely 3 words to me, during the whole of his 15-20 min. visit. (I understood his charge would be $70 Minimum, which included the 1st ONE HOUR of his Services. Didn't wish to be disturbed by me talking or asking questions. After 5-8 min., informed me 'All' was fixed. I asked him "What?" he had had to do.... Just replaced the washers inside the two faucets! Then, he even added a few dollars on to his $70 charge, and was set to leave. I was not happy, Given a choice, I would have preferred he use the Hour's Time to replace the Faucets with 2 NEW faucets!! If he had been honest, he would have just advised me to replace the 25 cent washers myself.... I tried to ask him, since the Hour was not used up yet, about help w/ another plumbing problem, but his response was short and annoyed. He gave my question a few minutes time, with no Fix, and seemed only too happy, to be out and on his way, after less than 30 min. of pretty Worthless "Service?".

+ -1 moreThanks to Angies List recommendations, I called Hegarty Plumbing for what I thought would be a simple fix. Robert was able to squeeze in my service between other appointments. He arrived, diagnosed and problem-solved a very problematic plumbing/piping set up left by a previous homeowner. I was impressed with his willingness to find a solution, his willingness to talk me through the situation and ideas for handling a future remodeling. He was so careful to be sure that everything was left in a fully clean and clear manner (booties in the house), full clean up. I would absolutely call on Hegarty Plumbing again!

+ 0 moreI phoned him before the house was closed and we had the keys but we agreed to wait until we had the keys to make the appointment. I phoned then and we made the appointment for the next week. He showed up on time and did the work described above. Since we had gotten the wrong type of bathroom faucet he had to come back in two days to try again. He still couldn't install them because there was no room for him to work under the counter top. This was in no way his fault.
Description of Work: Cleared a slow drain in kitchen sink. Installed copper overflow piping on hot water heater. Changed out one bathroom faucet. Attempted to change two more bathroom faucets but we had gotten the wrong type. We exchanged them and he came back in two days but again was unable to install them because the initial installation had been so jerry-rigged that he couldn't do it without doing some destruction under the counter tops. Checked a moisture problem around one of the toilets which was reported on the inspection. Informed us there was no leak.

+ -1 moreThe plumber was fabulous. We called him one morning and it was probably around 9 o’clock just to see if he could make any recommendations based on our problem. We had a hole in our pipe in the kitchen. He said that he would see if he could work us in. He said he would call us back, which he did within 5 minutes. Then he said that he could be here at 10:30 to take a look at it. We said okay great. We found him on Angie’s List, which was terrific. Then he came out absolutely on time. He had little booties on and we didn’t have to ask about that. He came in, fixed the pipe and explained what might have gone wrong very quickly. I think he was in the house for 15 minutes. He fixed the problem and had a bill written up for us. He promised us that we would get 10% off if we are connected with Angie’s List. Without us even mentioning it, he gave us our 10% discount for Angie’s List. I think it was the best experience I have ever had by a service. It cost us $72 and there were no extra charges for expediting it. He came in and he had the parts. He was amazing. I have recommended him to other people too.

+ -1 moreWe are very happy with him. He did a fine job. I tried to do as much as I could myself. I probably had some work done on the leak three times. I am a little claustrophobic, but I thought a plumber want $100 to pull on our driveway. After the third time I quit, I called him and said I can't do it. He went down and did it for me. He said I didn't do a bad job, but I left a little burr on the copper tube in there or else I would have been fine. He was reasonable. He put on his little booties on the hardwood floors. He put it on the crawling house and removed it again. I told him it was not necessary. I appreciate they consider us like that. He was on time.

He was clean - protected my floor surrounding his area of work. He did a beautiful job and left the area clean. He even hauled off my old sink. He answered all my questions and gave me advice about my bathroom plumbing. He fixed outdoor leaky faucets. His fees were very reasonable. I would definitely call him again for any plumbing jobs. I would highly recommend him to friends and family.

I like that he was conscientious and knowledgeable. He let me know exactly what he was doing, how long it would take and the cost associated. I feel that his prices were in line and I just felt like he had a lot of integrity. I trusted him.

+ 0 moreOUTSTANDING! Hegarty was extremely efficient and conscientious about his work and wasted no time getting all 10 jobs done. When he realized that I wanted to learn as much as I could about our plumbing, Hegarty explained how to keep our drains unclogged; what to do if our shower heads were to clog; why I needed to take all attachments off of our outside spickets/faucets during the winter and that these particular faucets do not need to be insulated because the "faucet line" goes into the house 1 foot or more so that keeps the line warm. Excellent information for me, who is from Hawaii!! Hegarty was also very personable. A MOST ENJOYABLE experience! It is so wonderful to have no more leaking anything!!!!
Description of Work: Hegarty performed 10 things for us. Replaced piping under our kitchen sink & put in a new faucet unit. Determined why there was a leak in our basement below our kitchen & fixed it. Determined why outside faucets were leaking & fixed them (4 of them). Removed existing shower heads & then installed 2 new shower heads. Fixed another shower head that was leaking. Determined why a toilet was not flushing, replaced flapper & fixed chain that was broken. Provided information pro's & cons on "dropping" a tub that is elevated about 3 feet & the removal of a broken dishwasher and unclogged a sink & tub.

+ -1 moreMr. Hegarty offered to come out the evening I called when my water main broke, but I had managed to shut off the water and said he could come the next day. He said he would be there 8:30 AM and he arrived promptly at that time. He dug out all the area so he would have room to work and he removed the pipe section needed which was in poor condition. All the new pipe was joiined and soldered and tested. I was very pleased with the work and recommend Mr Hegarty highly.

Did not call back first plumber because he charged us for 1 and 3/4 hours over his initial bid. And, you know in plumber charges 1 and 3/4 hours over bid adds up to ALOT of money! Mr. Hegarty came in under initial bid. With excellent workmanship. A true professional.
