The day following the quote, an underling arrived to do the work. I showed him the outlet box I had previously purchased for the install. He looked at the generator plug, generator cable, and generator and went about his business. On initial inspection, the box was hung on the wall and the circuit breakers were neatly arranged. Two days later I get a bill for $650 (?!?!?). I paid it. Whatever, I figured. All electricians are basically liars anyway. Flash forward to the ice storm of February 2014. As the trees were popping and falling all around my neighborhood, I knew that the power would soon go out. I wasn't apprehensive as I knew that I had had the foresight to hook up a generator drop for my home the previous spring. When the power finally did go out, I collected my generator and set out to plug in and enjoy the storm. As soon as I got to the plug I noticed I had been duped. Where I was expecting a 4 prong 30-amp switch, I was greeted with a 3 prong 50 amp job. The generator work Bear Mountain did was essentially worthless. I could not run my well, my hot water heater, or my range. I spent the next 4 days in a freezing and dark house waiting for the power to come back on so I could call Bear Mountain Electric to fix their work. When the power did come on, the owner and I spoke and I told him about my experiences and urged him in no uncertain terms that I was extremely displeased and that he needed to come fix it. To my amazement, he did, at and quot;no charge.and quot; (Gee, thanks for not charging me for the work that I already overpaid for). So, in the end, Bear Mountain will quote you whatever they want, charge you whatever they want, and do whatever work they want to do, irregardless of the customers parameters, directions, and supplies.
Description of Work: I called Bear Mountain Electric to consolidate breakers, replace my electrical panel with a mechanical generator panel, and hook up an emergency generator drop for my home in April 2013. I spoke with the owner, who personally arrived at my house, looked at the job, and gave me an total job quote of about $450 dollars.

Not good. Estimate was a and quot;couple hoursand quot;, and around $300 for the work. Estimator (Chad) had another electrician do the work, ok. Other person maybe doesn't do the work in the estimators timeframe. After a day-and-half, and knowing the rates of electricians, I was like: Do they know what they are doing? Turns out they estimated about 100% off (cost double). The switches that we would want hooked up, we were told and quot;couldn't beand quot;, without tearing into the walls (ok), but the level of communication was very poor, follow up non-existent and overall job estimate way off.

Bear Mountain was prompt and professional. He even did more than we had originally discussed. He answered all my questions and left the job site clean. I had another quote for this job that was four times what I was charged by Bear Mountain. I will use them in the future and have already recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: Installed new outlets and lights and relocated electrical boxes.

Our house wiring has living room and two bedrooms all on one breaker (seems like a lot to us, but what do we know?) We've lived here for many years and nothing new has been plugged in for a few years. When we couldn't get the breaker to reset on Sunday night, we used an extension cord to run the fish tanks, and sought advice for an electrician to call. Our computers and wine refrigerators were not functioning, so this was clearly an emergency and lt;gand gt;!! A good friend recommended Bear Mountain Electric, so I called them at 8:00 Monday morning. They answered the phone (a good start!) and I explained the situation, and asked if there was any way they could come that day. Within a couple of minutes, he asked if they could come now? Well, sure! They were at my door by 8:40, assessed the situation, got the breaker to reset, triple confirmed that there was no problem with the breaker or any fire risk. When I asked repeated annoying questions, he explained how electricity and wiring works until I was satisfied. The guy was totally professional, their rig was clean and and looked well maintained, and I thought $85/hour was reasonable. I can't promise that they will be there in less than an hour when you call, but I believe they will be very responsive, professional and a good value. P.S. The breaker hasn't tripped again.
Description of Work: Description from invoice: "Trouble shoot twin multiwire branch circuit breaker. When reset, tripped again within 45 seconds. Unplug cooler & computers. Reset breaker again and it held. Plugged everything back in and max amperage was 10 amps. Tripping may be due to cooler going bad. If it happens again circuit should be retro fitted to break existing circuit in half."

Work was done in a satisfactory fashion but with little communication. Bid was not to exceed $750 and actcost was $740. Home Depot had the parts for about $350 and work took 1-2 hours. Overall cost seemed high but work was done properly.

They inspected our house, listened to what we needed done, and gave us an estimate via e-mail by the next day. They always called before they came out to work, explained what they were doing, asked for guidance when they needed it, and accommodated our needs. The work took several days but they would call and let us know when they were coming. We added a couple of items once they were here but the final bill was still within $200 or so of the initial estimate.
Description of Work: Bear Mountain Electric installed two light fixtures, two ceiling fans, several electrical outlets. They had to enter the attic and the crawl space to do the work. It is fine work and they kept us informed during the three days or so that they needed. They were respectful, courteous, and friendly, We are completely satisfied with their work and will call them again should we need to.

Excellent. Simply excellent! They were very prompt in getting us a bid, as well as having a much more satisfactory design in the layout over our electric company's idea. When we called needing them to start within a couple days, they were here. They came out several times for the entire process and were always on time. We were very impressed with their professionalism, even when they hit a serious line of rock while digging the trench. We will use them again when we need juiced up.
Description of Work: Installed new underground service to existing house and new shop, including new 200 amp panel for the shop. Coordinated switch over with the electric company.

Selected Bear Mountain based on reviews here. Called Tuesday mid-afternoon to see if they could look at the dryer receptacle that week. They said they could be out the next morning between 8:00am and 8:30am. Electrician arrived at exactly 8:00am the next morning. Very pleasant and good attitude. Before walking through the house, he took off his shoes at the front door without being asked. Willing to answer questions and explain what he was doing. Professional and courteous. Finished job in a very reasonable amount of time. I would definitely use Bear Mountain Electric for future electrical jobs.

I called late Monday afternoon about one of our downstairs circuits being dead, and Bear Mountain had an electrician here by 8:15 Tuesday morning. (It wasn't an emergency). He found the break in the wires efficiently, had it repaired, tested and all outlets, light fixtures etc put back together in just over 2 hours time. We thought the price was reasonable and couldn't be happier. We will definitely call Bear Mountain Electric next time.

The morning of instalation, Scott called to report he would be late by 1/2 hour. I appreciated the call. With his help it was determined how may canned lights were needed for the space, less then I thought, and where they should be placed for the maximum effect. Very knowledgeable, polite, sence of humor and cleaned up after the job was done. 1st on my list for electrical.
