Banyan Construction

Miserable outcome. Work began in January and progressed at a snail's pace. Workers appeared occasionally, stayed for a short period of time, and did not seem to know much about the project or the tasks they were working on. Much time was spent chatting and checking smart phones. Our contract said the work would be done in two weeks. After 4 1/2 months, we told Banyan to stop. The work that had been done failed both city plumbing and general inspections. In fact, some of the electrical work created a fire hazard. The new exterior wall was crooked and needed to be re-aligned to allow room for the siding where the wall met the eaves. Much of Banyan's work (including all of the plumbing) needed to be torn out and replaced by another contractor. We spent $2500 to $3000 more than we had planned on this project because of Banyan's substandard work.

One of our listings had a garage conversion that was not permitted when it was built. Jim Geertsen of Banyan Construction came out to the property and gave his professional opinion of the soundness of the property in its current state as well as pricing to bring the project to code vs. converting it back to a garage. The property owner chose to convert back and Jim did the entire project in a single day. He met with the city inspectors before he began and upon completion to see that the job was completed perfectly. A final approval was given by the inspectors on the spot. et
