Way over charges and ruined my tress. Left the garden full of waste from the trees. Would never use them again.

Showed up when expected. Charged by the hour rather than job, which was reasonable for the amount of work that was done. Very efficient, didn't waste time. Would use again.

They showed up on time and got to work. Had everything done and cleaned within about 3 hours and left the place looking nice and even did a bit more clean up than I expected. They were very professional and courteous. Would definitely recommend and will use them again for any tree work I need done.

Doug is very personable. He arrived on time and completed all work in 3 hours including clean-up. Job was performed well but cost (similar to other professional bids) seems very high to me.

The work was fully satisfactory.

Our overgrown trees are now airy and beautiful and, more importantly, safer and healthier. He and his crew arrived promptly on both work days, performed all promised work very much to our satisfaction, cut firewood to length for us, and cleaned up meticulously in front and back. They were courteous and careful. The strange thing is, his bid was the lowest by quite a bit. You would never, never know it from the quality of the work or the professionalism with which it was carried out. What struck us is how genuinely the business owner seems to care about trees. He definitely understood our love for the trees in our yard. He offered some advice about caring for a couple of less-than-perfect specimens, which we will be following. I know we will be calling him again in the future.

doug arrived on time and trimmed 10 really tall arborvitae along the back fence of property. these had never been trimmed before, and now look healthier than ever. he did a great job of making them even, shaping them, and cleaning up afterwards. i would definitely recommend his landscaping service and would not hesitate to call him again for an estimate in the future.

Doug was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. He answered my questions, provided insights, and gave me tips on what I can do to improve the health of the trees. He pruned a densely bushy Chinese Redbud and did an incredible job in a short amount of time. I was, and still am, stunned by the transformation. It changed not only the look of the tree but the feel of the whole yard. I highly recommend him - he is indeed an artist! Thanks, Doug!

Had Doug come out to provider an estimate on some pruning and possible removal of a large spruce. He made the suggestion that the spruce would not be worth pruning because it was leaning badly and would likely fall. He said, "It's cheaper to clear away a tree on the ground than it is to cut it down". I took that to mean I should let it fall naturally. Considering how close the tree was to surrounding structures I thought that might be a terrible plan of action. He gave me estimates for pruning and removing the leaning tree of danger. We had some to do some saving and when we had enough money I called about the tree removal. He was very rude on the phone. He told me he was not interested in removing my tree and hung up. I like to ask a lot of questions when getting work done so maybe I asked too many? Still, I liked the guy. He is a conscientious nature lover. I wanted to support that. Too bad.

He's professional and positive at all times, even when he doesn't think I'm around. Treats his helper with respect. Works hard and is a really good climber. I didn't think he could get to some of the broken limbs, but he got them all, plus a couple that were cracked and threaten the house. Side note: I've used him before and am impressed with his intelligence and honesty. He is very direct about trying to make an accurate estimate. As a trained arborist, he knows how to protect the trees, and he only takes as much as he needs to. He even has deer horns for squirrels to gnaw on - which keeps them from gnawing on the tree limbs. I never knew squirrels did that and have had to replace some of the chewed up horns.

There isn't much to tell other than he appeared to be an expert at tree trimming.

Doug Hornaday and his helper showed up exactly on time and did all the work contracted for, and cleaned up the area very thoroughly when done. They were polite and knowledgeable about trees. I will have them do more work in the future and would recommend Artistic Arborist to anyone.

After reading very positive reviews about Doug on Angie's List, I called and left a message for him to get in touch with me. He came exactly when he said he would to take a look at the trees. One in particular had been pruned into a tight little ball on top of the trunk and I thought that it would be very difficult to turn it into a more natural looking and attractive part of the landscape. He came to do the work at the appointed time ( actually an hour early ) and did an amazing job on all of the trees ! He brought an assistant to clean up as he cut and in two hours time they all looked beautiful and everything was clean and tidy. He truly is an artist with a great eye for how a tree should look and is so skilled and experienced that it doesn't take him very long to do the work. He is also a very nice guy and I would trust him totally with any job. He is very professional.

I've used him in the past and he's always good to work with. He explains the price ahead of time, including the number of people he'll need to help him when he's climbing or taking down something big. Very experienced. Shows up on time and works very efficiently. They work hard and haul the branches away, but they are very friendly. He's obviously a good boss - positive and often teaching his workers how to do what he does. They clean up completely, and will even stack the fire wood carefully where you want it. Another thing I really like about Doug is what he won't do, and the advice he gives. We wanted a big limb cut down on a sweetgum and he refused! Said it would harm the tree, and as an arborist he didn't want to do it. He's also been up in one tree and pointed out limbs that needed work late (potential gutter busters he called them). He also showed us how to use deer antlers for squirrel food - to gnaw on - so they would be less likely to chew on the branches.

The owner, Doug, showed up for an estimate on time, gave me a price within minutes of arriving and was there the next morning exactly on time. He and his co-worker got right to work while my wife and I watched, somewhat amazed, at the professionalism and knowledge of their task at hand. While Doug climbed and trimmed the poplar the ground man was busy carrying branches to the trailer to be hauled away. They displayed expertise in tying off branches and lowering them to the ground by rope instead of just letting them fall. This poplar was just a foot or so from my cedar fence and when they were done there was no damage to the fence or any surrounding plants in our yard. After cutting the two trees as close as possible to the ground, as I had requested, they did a very thorough job of cleaning up any debris. They even went as far as raking and using a leaf blower even though there were no leaves from the poplar as this was February. The job was done quickly and we were very pleased not only with the outcome but the friendliness and professionalism displayed by both men.

The owner, Doug Hornaday arrived on time at 0900 with two workers. One worker proceeded to cable the Spruce tree and the other worker started working on the Sickamore. Hornaday acted as ground support for both and quot;climbersand quot;. The spruce climber drilled holes thru both trunks and secured a cable betweem them. The cable was tightened and job secured. The sickamore climber selected branches to be removed with consultation with Hornaday. Cuts were made after branches were secured, so they could be lowered to the ground. Second climber and Hornaday removed branches to the transport trailer. Following branch removal they raked up small debris and removed it from the site. We discussed possible future actions and paid bill. They departed the area at approximately 1100.

They are trustworthy and they have the expertise to really do a good job. They love trees. They are in the right field of work.

They are good human beings; the owner is honest and forthright. He is very thoughtful and told me exactly what to expect and then did that. He found a way to make the work most reasonable for me by focusing on what would create the greatest safety but he did not do what was unnecessary. He is just a really good person and I will use him again in the future.

IThe arborist was professional and personable, as was his helper. I appreciated the teacher/senior discount. I only wish I had had him trim more heavily. I was overall very pleased.

I spent $85 for the last service. He is very knowledgeable and personable. He did a good job too.
