Description of Work: In May, 2012, I hired Art Works to tear down an existing deck at my home in Eugene, Oregon, and build a new deck, approx 11 x 26, in its place. All work was done with exceptional diligence and professionalism. The daily work began at 8:00 a.m. and continued basically non-stop throughout the day. Actually I never even saw a lunch break tho I'm sure they must have taken them. There were 4 workers during the tear down phase and when necessary thereafter. The owner, Rob Ellis, was there every day, all day long, and was pretty much responsible for building the new deck himself with help as noted. The new deck consists of the deck floor, railings, steps, and roof (which was a job all by itself). The finish work was meticulous (incl. staining and sanding every teensy flaw). Although I was on the premises basically the entire time, no supervision was necessary. Communication throughout this project was excellent. Many suggestions were given to me to keep cost down while maintaining superb quality. All of my requests and concerns were addressed immediately. The project took about 7 days. I am absolutely thrilled with my beautiful new deck, and have received many many positive comments from friends. I would use Art Works again in a heartbeat!

+ -1 moreEverything went very well. Rob came on the date that he had given us, even though it was pouring rain. The crew set the posts that day and came the next to finish the fence. The work was done well and the fence looks great.
Description of Work: We had a 29' section of fence, including a gate, replaced.

+ 1 moreIf you are considering a new fence or deck, we would highly recommend Art Works Fence and Deck for the project. Rob Ellis just finished replacing a 350 sq. ft. deck for us, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. His prices were reasonable, and his work was of the highest quality. Rob is a conscientious, diligent worker. His skill and meticulous attention to detail mark him as a true craftsman. Our deck involved unusual angles, over 50 ft. of handrail, two levels, an additional step, and a bench, and we are impressed with all the components. Quite simply, the pride he took in his work has translated into a deck we will be very proud to use for years to come. We plan to hire him for another project in the near future, and we recommend him to you wholeheartedly. Just so you know, this recommendation was not solicited by him in any way. It is simply our way of acknowledging the extraordinarily careful and precise work of a young man we just met. Description of Work: Rob Ellis presented us with a bid, and based on his cost and photos of his previous work, we decided to go with him. On the agreed-upon day, he and another work arrived on time to tear out our existing deck and haul it away. They were both hard workers and left a clean work site. A small area of dry rot was discovered next to one wall, so we asked them to replace the boards and they did. After that, the building began, and the project was completed in under a week. Rob worked on his own after the first day. He was always prompt, professional, and pleasant in every way. He was totally engrossed in his work and never wasted any time. When he was finsihed, we did the staining ourselves. We are delighted with our new deck!
