Sunrise Landscape Professionals

I have had Steve off and on for many years to care for my lawns. I have moved a few times so service was interrupted (once was in association and lawn care included). I now live in Clackamas county and not only are routine services (mow, fertilize, etc.) but at times, such as fall the gardeners prep the lawn and shrubs for winter. One house, Steve maintained the sprinkler system. I have known and used Steve for years. would recommend him.

It went great. He did a great job and the yard looked wonderful when he left.

The owner first visited the construction site in November the previous year to look at the job. Construction was ongoing. He made himself available to start in January, however we were not ready to start. In February the company arrived to begin the grading and get the list of plantings. The initial job took just 2 days and the crew worked relentlessly while here. The work is scheduled to resume in April with the back and side yards following completion of outdoor construction. The owner is approachable and prompt returning phone calls. He gave us the best price of 4 bids submitted. His company has also done much work with our contractor and came highly recommended by our contractor.

Trimming down the ground cover on the corner went fine. It had grown so tall that it was obstructing sight lines for cars at the intersection. I was happy with that part. As for weeding, I don't know any company that actually pulls or digs up weeds. Most poison them and then rake them away later, or cover them with fabric or cardboard and then bark chips or dust . They just scraped them away with rakes, basically, removing their tops. The bark dust wasn't coming for another couple of weeks, by which time the weeds were coming back. I had the owner come over and spray the emerging weeds. The bark dust then covered most of the weeds, but some are starting to pop through. Perhaps because my yard was SUCH a mess I am expecting too much. I recommend being there when the workers come. The problem is, the owner comes out and surveys everything and works up an estimate, but then he isn't part of the team that comes to do the work. He didn't take pictures. So I felt like I had to be there to explain everything. Even then, I would look out the window while they were working, and I would run out to stop them from doing something I didn't want done. I told them to knock on the door and ask me if they were unsure about things, but they didn't do that. I had to be watching. The next 2 visits (which were just one hour each) were to take care of the lawn and to do more weeding. I was out of town. Over the phone I had discussed with the owner that the north side of our backyard was almost totally weeds. It would need to be sprayed on the first visit, then the dead weed tops removed on the 2nd visit. I didn't get this in writing. The spraying didn't happen. They got an amazing amount of weeding and lawn care done in only 2 hours total, but 2 weeks later all the weeds were back. I emailed the owner and told him I was unhappy. He said he would come over sometime and spray the weeds on the northside. To my knowledge, he hasn't done that. The 2 workers were very hard-working and pleasant and courteous. I enjoyed them being around. I just can't pay $95/hour every 2 weeks for people to come and remove the tops of my weeds. I hate spraying, but many of the weeds are in rocky areas. Also, the owner, Steve, couldn't be a nicer guy. Part of the miscommuication could be my fault, I was having to be out of town a lot on a family health emergency, so my mind was distracted.

They have ruined my lawn in the time that I've had them doing work. I had a nice, thick lawn when I started using their services. Now, my lawn is thin. I can't get them to treat the weeds, and my back yard is being taken over by them. Steve has not been responsive to my requests--I contacted him and he said that maybe we should just stop doing business. I am beginning to think he's right. He'll come out and look, but nothing happpens. He just doesn't get it.

We were entirely pleased with Steve and his company. The work was great, reasonably priced, and performed promptly. Steve was also an excellent communicator.

Overall I would rate this company high and would definitely use them again. In fact I'm planning on expanding the landscaping to another part of the yard and will be calling them when I'm ready.

Steve was very responsive by phone and email. He's knowledgeable, trustworthy and easy to work with. Didn't try to upsell me, gave great advice and taught me about some of the plants in my yard.

I don't think he understood what I was asking him to do. I tried to explain to him what I wanted and he didn't get it. I would recomend him to anyone. Update 6/4/2012 He said he will to accept half of the clean up charge,

I would rate them highly. I would use them again in the future.

I hired Surise to do clean up of my parents' yard and monthly landscaping. He was incredibly prompt about returning my calls and providing information. He went out and met my elderly parents and they really liked him. They are hard of hearing, so I made arrangements with him over the phone concerning timing, etc. He was very considerate about their schedule and they were so pleased that his team showed up when they said they would and did really good work.

Stellar! They did a great job. Checked with us about details and questions they had as they worked to make sure their performance measured up to our expectations. We courteous, and very responsive. I plan to continue using them for maintenance work.

Steve and his crew came out installed system and sod, set the timer, made sure that everything worked well. They were great!!

We were very pleased with the work that Sunrise Landscape performed. Steve was the person that we were working with and he was very professional and the work that was done was excellent. He and his crew were on time and the yard looks great. We will for sure use them again.

I wanted them to put in a new sprinkler system, which unfortunately wasn’t done as there was not much water supply. They laid a 2000 sqft lawn bed and fertilized the same very well. They seemed very knowledgeable about their job and recommended suitable products. They did a very good job and were reasonably priced. I like their services and will use the same in future.

Steve was very professional and prompt in arriving for the bid as well as getting the work done. The project was finished within a few days from time of call to completion. And I had other bids from top rated angieslist companies and this company came in half the price of the others.

One very nice thing about working w/ Steve--he was great with using email to communicate with us which helps a lot w/ our schedules. He also was one of the few landscapers who gave us a written estimate/description of work to be performed. Finally, since we have a small yard to begin with and were doing some do it yourself work for pavers and drainage, this was not a big job. We felt like we got the brush off when talking to some people, but never got that from Steve and he even moved his schedule around to fit our yard in before some other contractors were scheduled to begin work on other parts of our house.

Fast workers, friendly and polite, job done very well, price came in somewhat below estimate (a nice thing!)

A bit of a frustrating beginning with start dates rescheduled multiple times. However once on site, progress went well, the crew was efficient and friendly, the owner, Steve, checking on progress with landscaper. Communication gaps I had with the landscaper are no longer valid as I understand he does not work for Sunrise any longer. At the time, he was distracted with another project and this caused multiple delays. Sunrise owner Steve went out of his way to help me obtain 'character' rock for the landscaping, he also came back in the spring and cleaned the pond at no charge after winter rains caused dirt from the surrounding raw area to wash down. If I were to do it again, I would educate myself more on the process, seeing an area so close to the house completely cleared and rearranged was a little unsettling if one doesnt know what they are doing. Fortunately, they did. Also, mark/protect any plants or shrubbery you want to retain for use in the project or for another area, otherwise it will disappear in the initial clearing. The crew were very good at removing what I asked them and saving it for replanting later. I would use Sunrise Landscaping and I have recommended them to friends

Steve came out and gave me an estimate, then got the work done a few days later. Excellent experience. I was satisfied in all respects.

They come out every year. I am still waiting for them to come out this year to do my yard fertilizing and pruning. Mike usually has very good cost saving ideas. He's got several alternatives. The workers are always very professional but they're not always prompt. I don't know if they have a busy schedule or what but I would have to wait a while for them to get around.

We hired Sunrise Landscaping to do some major pruning, planting of shrubs, weeding, barkdusting and lawn edging. The yard is large and it was pretty overgrown. They did a very professional and fantastic job. It just looks wonderful. They also supervised the barkdusting and everything looks better than it has in years. A few weeks later, we had to have Steve come out to fix two issues with the sprinkling system. He diagnosed the problems very quickly and the 13 zone system is back up and running. Angie's List was a godsend. We trusted them to be reliable, professional people and we were NOT disappointed. We highly recommend Sunrise Landscaping and will definitely hire them next year.

They do a great job, and Steve is wonderful to work with. He gives real TLC to the plants, and has a sense for what the plants need and is very knowledgeable. His crew is nice and trustworthy, and I like his business ethics. He is a genuine person, and he is very personable and kind. We live on an established farm and many of the plants are very old, so it was important for us to find someone who would really care for the plants and do a great job with them. If you give him a time when you would like him there, he does his best to make arrangements. We have been very happy with him.

I was very happy with them. They were true to their word. They came when they said they would, and they did a wonderful job. Their prices were reasonable, and I would use them again.
