Jay checked everything that needed to be done on Friday, and when he returned on Saturday he had the materials he needed for the work, and had made the new planter, all of which he installed on Saturday. He is amazing: his work is well thought-out and he doesn't waste any time getting it done. The planter replaces one that was installed in 1977 and had some rotten wood, and Jay's replacement is really well made and a great replacement.

Jay promptly returned my call the following day, and discussed with me the scope of work I was looking at. A dog ramp, and some interior electrical work for under cabinet lighting. Jay was very kind to refer me to an electrician, and I will be contacting them for the lighting work. Very professional on the phone, and gave great advice. The ONLY reason i did not use Jay this time, was I had already been contacted by another Handyman, and had bid agreement in place for the scope of work. Jay works in my neighborhood frequently, so I look forward to using him on future projects here.

Went well as usual. Jay responded to my request right away, and was able to make the repairs almost immediately even though it wasn't a rush request. He performed all work to my satisfaction, and went the extra mile to make sure my antique lamps are safe to use. Jay is a prompt, courteous, knowledgable professional, and I'm glad I found him.

Jay fixed a bathroom ceiling fan. About a week after he fixed it, it began to grow louder as it was used. He came back and replaced it for free. He guarantees his work. This is the 2nd time we have used him, and will use him again in the future.

I think we used him several times. His name is Jay and we really like him and he is excellent. The first time we used him was for our disposal and he get a few other things and then I think I had a terrific need just kind fix that too and that was great. He is fast. He is nice. He gets the job. Prices are reasonable or very good.

I wish I could give A+, because Jay definitely deserves it. We are selling our home and had some repairs to make, and time was running short. We had just over a week to make the repairs when we called Jay (the contractor we were going to use just wasn't working out). Jay came to our home several times in between his other jobs to complete the repairs. One repair that was especially challenging was a gable that was missing a screen. It wasn't accessible from the attic, but Jay came up with a brilliant solution that will keep the screen very secure (and it looks great, too). Jay kept in communication with us via phone and email and we always knew exactly what was going on. When the job was done Jay sent an email with several pictures (with captions--a nice touch) showing all the repairs. Our realtor was very impressed and I'm sure she'll be calling Jay in the future. He is exceptional in his communication, his responsiveness, and in his work. A true professional.

I pretty much said above what you need to know. Jay is knowlegible has the tools to deal with nitty gritty maintenance issues and, as he said "I'll do for you what I would do for myself. He is easy to communicate with and seems to have broad knowledge. He also knows what he doesn't know and can provide the names of other tradesmen that he has had experience and trusts such as electrician, plumber, roofer, heatint & air conditioning, etc. We like Jay as a person and a service provider and will continue to use him as long as we have projects that pop up so long as he will put up with us.

He came right out the next morning and after spending meticulous time, managed to make it like new. I was really glad I didn't try it myself because it involved much more than merely tightening the two screws after removing the knob. There was a bit of sanding to keep the door from sticking and allow it to close smoothly also.

He was super friendly, very mellow. He was out talking to us for almost thirty minutes and didn’t charge us anything at all. He even did something with the drain line to help improve the garbage disposal while he was out looking at it. He told us how to do the work ourselves, but we think we’ll be safer asking him to do it.

Jay arrived punctually (on a Sunday) to accomodate our schedule. He worked on the doorbell first and then the fence and finished in the alloted time that he promised. A very smooth and efficient process.

Overall Jay's work was satisfactory. He was very polite and professional and I thought he charged a fair price for the work performed. The final cost actually came in slightly lower than the original estimate. This was a two day project and he was always on time when he showed up to work. One thing that I would suggest would be that he take a little more care in protecting the customer's floors. I have new laminate floors that now have light swirl marks from where he was working. I thought he should have place a canvass drop cloth or something to protect the floors. Other than that I thought his work was good and would probably use him again in the future.

My kitchen sink faucet wasn't functioning properly and I wanted to replace it. After looking on Angie's List I chose J & S Home Maintenance. I called the number provided at 7:30am on Monday the 14th and talked to Jay. He said he could be out around 9:30am and take a look at the faucet. Jay came out when promised and took the faucet apart and determined it had to be replaced. He put everything back together and didn't charge me for his services. I let him know that I would purchase another faucet and call him back to install it. I purchased another faucet and called Jay back. He said he could could come out on Friday the 18th at 9am. He arrived on time and began installing the new faucet. It took him about an hour and made sure everything worked and there were no leaks. He cleaned up everything and put the old facet in my recycling bin. Jay said the amount owed was $60. He made sure I was satisfied with everything and left. Any work projects like this I need done in the future, I'll be using Jay again. He was on time, professional and did an outstanding job and I highly recommend him.

Jay responded quickly from an emergency call in which I explained that another contractor had not shown up to do the work listed above. He came the next day, and looked at the projects and gave me a quote that seemed reasonable. Jay was very personal, professional and meticulous in his work. Installation of the kitchen sink faucet and drains involved removing and reinstalling the garbage disposal which required a second try as he noticed a minor leak when checking it after the installation. All of the projects were completed to perfection and I was pleased that Jay did not charge for the time it took to install the disposal a second time. 1/7/12 Yesterday, I had Jay back to my home to repair the dishwasher door spring which had popped of its track. Again he set right to work, pulled out the dishwasher and found that the spring had gotten tied in with surrounding insulation. He repositioned the spring, cut the insulation back fromt he spring area and stabilized the dishwasher in place. Jay is competent, kind and professional. I am planning to have him do some other handyman jobs for me in the coming year.

I called around 9 am in the morning. Jay was here within two hours. Excellent prompt service. I will use Jay again in the future and would highly recommend him.

He showed up even though he wasn't sure he could make it. He seems honest and puntual. Will definitely be calling him in the future.

Jay and his work was very professional. Since neither my husband or I wanted to take on this task (not to mention voiding out our doors warranty) we contacted Jay after he had done work at our neighbors house. Process went smoothly; our cats love it and so do we. Now we don't have to monitor the cat movement every 10 minutes and saves on heating.

Jay was very professional and pleasant to work with. He arrived on time, went right to work, and kept at it until he was finished (about 5 hours). He estimated the needed materials so accurately that he had just the right amount to finish, with no waste (or added expense). I couldn't have been happier with his work!

Jay was on time, professional, clean and friendly. He is helpful and takes the time to explain the pros and cons of several options. He will research approaches, materials and process if he doesn't have the answer immediately. He will always provide referrals if he doesn't have the exact capacity needed.

I would say it couldn't have gone any better. I really envy people who have a wide array of skills to make things and fix things. Where I live in central Oregon, woodworking, metal shop, home ec and all of those really useful skills are disappearing from the schools and it will be a dying art one day. I have some upcoming bathroom remodeling in the future and I will surely call J & S.

Jay was on time to bid and to do work. Estimate was very close to the final bill. Did great, detailed work.

Jay was very prompt, professional, and thorough. He was careful with our property, and didn't leave a trace of dust or debris. He took time to explain the process, and was very helpful in recommending companies that could take care of specialty repairs. We highly recommend Jay, and will definitely call him in the future for any home repair projects.

I called him on a Friday, he came out on Monday. He evaluated the problem, and told me there were two ways to deal with the problem. We both agreed the simple way of making new screw holes in the hinge and using the proper screws would be preferable to putting in a new door frame. If time shows the frame to be damaged to the point it has to be replaced, he said (and wrote down) that about half of this service call would be credited to replacing the frame if it came to that. I don't get offers such as that often. In a little less than an hour we had the hinge modified and the door closing properly.

Great. I was very impressed and pleased with his attention to detail and workmanship.
