sent an email, Jay returned call the next day and scheduled my visit the the same day. Jay arrived at set time, was professional , quoted approx.cost to install,new faucet before work begin

Jay Behnke showed up on time and cleaned all the work areas before he left. He looked at the metal mounting brackets we had bought and said that there were better ones that allowed the railings to be more easily installed, plus allowed the railings to be adjusted. He went back to the store the get the right ones and then attached the railings to be in alignment with the stairs to be in compliance to code. When we bought the house, it didn't have any railings at all, which is a requirement for all stairs. One of our railings had been cut too short by the store, so he suggested adding a railing to the landing which was perfect! The towel bar had been left here by the previous owner, so it didn't have the pattern to follow for the holes, but he put that in perfectly as well! He did a GREAT job!

It went really well. He was very prompt and professional. It was a tricky job, because it involved an old fan from an ancient stove, plus there was no cabinet above or to either side. But he installed a shelf above and also added sides so that the whole thing fit in with the nearby cabinets. It's super solid and looks great.

Back screen door lock: Not only added a new handle, but did drilling/cutting as needed to ensure a secure fit in doorway. Front door motion sensor light: Took extra time to ensure it was pointed in correct directions & timing and that I understood how to adjust it as needed. I failed to tell him I always used LED lights in motion sensors, so he bought a halogen one, but I can live with that. Garage door spring/cable: Figured out how to make this old, unique garage door opener work without hanging up any more and gave tips on how to avoid it getting hung up in future. Tested the door opening/closing a couple of times and had me do it too so that he knew I could operate it ok. Kitchen florescent light diffuser: Diffuser had fallen out several times because standard size was a tiny bit too small to dependably stay in the frame. Safety issue. He went to a special place to ensure a slightly larger diffuser was cut from a bigger piece of diffuser plastic. Worked fine. Warned me to take it out slowly and carefully the next time a bulb needs to be replaced. Garage ceiling light: An electrician who installed the light for me had mistakenly put it right where the garage door had to bypass, so Jay moved it to a safer position higher up and added a longer pull cord that he had jury-rigged to work in this unusual situation. Jay was prompt and professional. We had slight mix-ups about dates/times but worked it out fine. His final price was lower than his estimate. Took him about 5 hrs to do the work and about 2 weeks from day I first called him to day he came to do the work. Enjoyable person who focuses on the work and gives helpful tips, including about ways to deal with a recalcitrant oven and a dishwasher.

He was great to work with. Very professional. Got exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay. Would use him again in a snap.

He was great. He came quickly, because it was an emergency. He did very good work, and was prompt.

Mr Behnke immediately called back and explained that he was capable of managing just about everything we needed but had scheduling conflicts because of many other jobs he was already working on or pre-scheduled for and that his earliest availability was further out than convenience for us. He apologized and said to feel free to call him another time if we needed anything similar done. I am inclined to do so because he was professional and well experienced.

First trip they fixed duct work. They misunderstood, but then quickly corrected their miss and fixed in second visit. Overall good, punctual.

I had a list of work that I needed done and he did it all. It was fantastic. He was great to work with and came in right at his estimate.

He was meticulous and did a fabulous job. He was punctual and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely use him again.

Jay asked questions that demonstrated his experience working with cabinets. Arrived on time and with his own tools, lights, and tarps needed to protect the work area. Skilled and able to problem solve. Cleaned up everything at end of job. Kept me informed of his progress as the job progressed.

Jay is the consummate professional. Always very good about letting me know his schedule and prompt to show up and keep me informed throughout the project as to what was happening. He went above & beyond to ensure I was happy with the way things were going/turned out. He was meticulous in his work and takes pride in doing a good job. The project ran into issues through no fault of Jay's (the shower he was to install was broken and we ended up ordering a much better brand which took several weeks to arrive) and he was great about staying in touch to let me know when the project could resume. I am so grateful for the beautiful work Jay did and very much enjoying all the improvements he did around my house. I highly recommend Jay and will definitely be using him in the future.

Jaye is the best. He is a skilled carpenter and handyman (knows a lot about a lot), is hard working, punctual, honest and fair with his pricing. He is our first go-to for any home construction, or household issue with which we need help. He works diligently while he is here, is meticulous with his work (very exacting with his measurements which I love).. I never have to worry about things not being done well. His work has always been top notch. We will use J annd S again...and again! You can't go wrong with him!

It went great. I'll definitely be hiring Jay in the future for all my maintenance needs -- nice guy, good prices and great work.

Jay arrived on time; worked at a steady pace, and showed great respect for homeowner's property. His clean up was immaculate. Plan to use him in near future to replace flooring in a bathroom and install new toilet purchased for same.

It now looks better than ever! I will definitely give Jay a call when I'm ready to remodel my bathroom.

The work was first class. Also, Jay made some changes to the wall set-up that added both beauty and practicality to the garage arrangement. Great work!

Jay from J & S repaired the lockset on our security storm door and fixed several inside doors that weren't closing smoothly. He arrived promptly, got to work, did a good job on the repairs, and charged a fair price. We'll use them again!

Jay is very professional and thorough. The fix he did for our door was relatively minor and he was reluctant to even charge us. We ended up giving him $20 for his time. We also spent some time walking the perimeter of the property to determine if we could do something to close off small openings around the house where mice had possibly been coming in. He emailed me the estimate later the same week. His estimate was very well-written and thorough, but we are in the process of getting more bids for comparison.

1. he made an initial visit and inventoried all items by name that had to be repaired 2. he researched each item that he was not familiar with to ensure he knew what to do and what he needed 3. he purchased special cupboard hinges 4. he recommended high quality / reasonable priced store to purchase knobs 5. he coordinated time for each visit to ensure maximum efficiency and lowest intrusion on us 6. each item was done exactly to our specifications and in less time than he originally estimated 7. most importantly, he did everything he could to meet our time frames and those of other clients

Jay is a "stickler" for details. He not only installed the bathroom light/exhaust fan in our bathroom but he also was concerned about matching up the ceiling paint to ensure that everything matched. He attentiveness to detail is very much appreciated. I will continue to use his services if and where necessary. I found him to be completely trustworthy, always on time, and professional throughout his work.

Jay, first and foremost, is a consummate professional who is attentive to detail and is also conscientious about what needs to be done, not done on a job. He is forthright in his estimates and thus far has been close to his estimates when the job is complete. We had a 26" door in our bathroom which had to be removed and replaced with a 30" door so that our niece could go in and out of the bathroom with her wheelchair. Jay moved the light/fan switch, cut out an additional 4" or so to expand the width of the door jam. Once completed, he then installed several pieces of tiles, painted the areas and materials requiring paint, and installed the new door. We and my niece are very appreciative of Jay's work. It exhibits quality through his workmanship. We have a Tuff Shed in the back. As most of you know, Oregon weather can take a toll on sheds and roofs. Jay removed all the old trims (which were made of cheap pressed cardboard material), painted and installed new hardwood trims, sealing it, and then nailing it. We are now assured of at least 10 more years with this shed, thanks to Jay's work. Back door is metal. We asked him to remove the door and paint it with an exterior paint which will hold up to moisture and the wind. Jay did an outstanding job on that. Jay installed two new pendant lights in the kitchen above our kitchen island. Did a very nice job on that. If I want professional work, I will continue to use Jay and J and S Home Maintenance. I would also encourage Jay to look serving the disabled community. He would be an asset to that area as well. We got quotes from several firms who claim to serve that community. Jay's price came MUCH lower than them. It just makes me wonder why these "specialty" firms charge so much more.
