They were scrupulous about cleaning up after themselves each day. All of the folks in the crew were very pleasant to work with. I was amazed at how fast the job went. They completed the job two days before their original estimate. Karin Gardner, who designed it, is a landscape genius. The pond had a slow leak at first, and they corrected it promptly, with a smile, at no additional charge. I have another project in mind, and I'll call these folks first. I am happy to recommend them very highly.

They are expensive but they have great ideas. They’ve got a big crew to have the work done. When I got their bid, it’s a total shock. I asked them to divide the payment into portions but they cannot decide at once. Then he never had the decency to get back at me for the answer either through a text message or email. I would give him an “F” for communication. Initially, I would give him and “A+” for coming out here and giving me ideas on what we can do and the reassurance to help on what happened on our property lines. Because a neighbour cut everything down and destroyed the ambiance. I needed to plant a green zone. They were great initially until I asked for the increment of payment and that’s when I did not like them. They should have called back and told me that they could not do the work so I can find someone else.

Initially, very happy with results for major work done in 2010 but then problems started arising with irrigation system. Most recent leak Marty said he would fix for over six months...still not fixed and he is ignoring my emails. Do not use this company!

I was referred to Martin by a local nursery and had a similar experience as two other reviewers regarding Martin saying he was interested in working with me and would come look at my garden but he didn't follow through. When he didn't come look at my garden as planned I called him back he said he still wanted to work with me and I was on his "list" but he never got back to me.

The Country Gardener comes across as very interested and professional when you meet Martin at the various home shows where he has an exhibit/booth. However, he does not return phone calls or respond to emails. We approached him about a landscaping plan after one of the Spring 2011 home shows, and he came out to look over our property. He took pictures, and we discussed what we would like to do. We emailed a list of the plants that we would be interested in having as part of the project (which would be done over several years). No further response from him. We again approached him at the next home show, and he responded that we were on his list and he would get to us with the clients that he had garnered from the earlier home show, and would do this before he began with contacts from this latest home show. Again, no response, even after several phone calls with messages left. I have no problem if he is not interested in projects like ours, but would very much appreciate the courtesy and professionalism of a phone call to inform us of this. He probably does beautiful work, but his lack of professionalism leaves a really bad taste. Thank goodness we never were asked to pay for the proposed plan before receiving it. I would not recommend ever even starting with this man! He also does business as The Country Gardener.

We are completely satisfied with the work. I have no idea how the price would compare to other people doing similar work but it seemed fair to us and we are happy with the results.

We met Marty at the Home and Garden Show. He was very engaging, and met with us twice at our house. His assistant designed an elaborate preliminary plan, which we agreed to approach in stages over a few years. He agreed to revise the preliminary plan, tand we set an appointment to meet again in 2-3 weeks. He did not show up for the appointment. He did not return multiple phone calls. Six weeks later, I reached him at his cell phone (he said he was in California on a family matter) and we set an appointment to meet the following week. He again did not show up, or call to say he would have to reschedule. As a consequence, we missed the season for doing the planned work, and have had to wait almost a full year to start anew. His behavior regarding keeping appointments and communicating became extremely unprofessional. I would advise others to not rely on him, and to look elsewhere for gardenign/landscape services.

Original work was satisfactory, but problem arose and it took almost a year to correct. Somewhat pricey for work done. Never returned calls. Never showed up when he said he would 6-8 times. this was worst experience ever.
