Hurd Contracting was one of my four bids that I received on our deck. Their bid was the lowest and I decided to go with them because I know that Joe is an active community member and supporter of the high school that I work at. I called Joe on a Saturday, on Monday he stopped by, gave me his thoughts, ideas, and timeline. He was comprehensive in what he went over and seemed to pay careful attention to what we asked for. The next day, Joe had a bid in my box. Most of the contractors took at least a week to get me a bid (I'm actually still waiting for one three weeks out). We decided to use Hurd General Contracting because of their bid, Joe's reputation within the community and because he worked hard to squeeze us into his busy schedule so we could enjoy the remainder of the summer on our deck. He got us into his schedule the very next Monday. Joe was very professional around our house, even took time to get to know and pet our dog, so our Great Dane wouldn't bark all the time with the installation of the deck. Joe had said that they would be there every morning at 7 o'clock, and they always were. Two days of construction later, our deck was beautiful and complete. Joe and his crew cleaned off the deck (and the building area) meticulously. This helped, as Joe had given me instructions on sealing and staining the deck, giving me ideas on how to be efficient and which products to use. Overall, this was a very pleasant, and surprisingly quick process. I would definitely use Hurd General Contracting again.
Description of Work: We needed a 15' x 25' deck designed, framed and installed on the back of our house. I would have been happy with a very simple design by Joe took it to the next level and made it look elaborate while still coming in as the lowest bid and below budget.
