could not have been happier.
Description of Work: I was tasked with the selling of my father's 45 year old home. The Village Builders team helped me with finding most of the code or safety violations in the house. We found 9 items that needed repair and established a budget. The kitchen ceiling was ruined due to a recently leaking roof. (no mold was found), The team came up with a ceiling design that removed the drop ceiling and the old 8 foot florescent fixtures. The new design worked well with ceiling design in the rest of the house and raised the ceiling height. The workmanship and finish work was flawless. The new front porch and refinished front door enhanced look of the house. Since we were coming in well under budget with the original work, it was decided to replace the original torn and stained living room carpet with red oak hardwood flooring. The workmanship on that flooring was spectacular. It was done by some very talented craftsman. That floor turned out to be the highlight of the house. I was very impressed with the Village Builders team. They were very easy to work with and kept me informed as they found and fixed addition problems caused by age or bad original design. We would have come in under budget had I not decided to add the hardwood floor. Stan Kirk

I heard about The Village Builder from other friends who had a very positive experience working with them. I hired them to paint my kitchen area, to install hardwood flooring in the hallway, family room dining room and in the kitchen and to install an exterior french door that had a doggy door insert in it. All the guys were extremely professional and always made sure the place was very clean when they left. They even removed some old junk that I had lying around outside which saved me having to make a run to the dump myself. The price that Chuck Noone gave to me was the price I paid. I really really love the oak flooring. There is so much variation to the boards that it is really fun to look at. The inlaid oak registers are that final touch that just makes the floor pop. I get comments on it all of the time. A few years after they did the initial job, I had them come back to install a paver patio in our backyard. First they had to remove a dilapidated old deck and a hot tub. Once that was done, they used a drawing that I came up with to actually install the pavers. Everything came out as I had hoped it would. I am considering adding an arbor over the patio. Obviously, the Village Builder will be my first choice to do the work. Outstanding work, great guys, easy to read contract. I would highly recommend the Village Builder to anybody.
Description of Work: I hired the Village Builder to install oak hardwood flooring in my kitchen, family room, dining room and hallway. They also installed a single french door and painted our kitchen. I then had them come back a few years later and install a paver patio in our backyard.

The Village Builder built our home in 2001. It was a 2900 SF full custom in the Craftsman style, so includes lots of finely detailed woodwork. His crew did an exquisite job. Everything was completed to our satisfaction on time and within budget. When some of the components came in under budget, Chuck volunteered upgrades on some of the interior finishes. In 2006 we wanted to add a 500 SF bedroom and bathroom within the "crawl space". We naturally went back to The Village Builder. Again, the work was completed to our complete satisfaction. Finally, they stand behind their work. In 2011, I noticed an apparent leak in the vicinity of our chimneys. After a couple days of trying to find and fix the problem myself, I gave up and called Chuck. He sent his foreman, Bruce, over. Bruce spent a full day finding and fixing the problem (leaking flashing). No questions, no charge.

Job went very well. The job and costs were clearly explained at the outset, the men who did the work were skilled and professional, all of the work was done to or satisfaction, and there were no hidden costs.
Description of Work: Installed a fence, rebuilt a deck, and painted the house.

Village Builder replaced our cedar deck with a trex deck. I enjoyed his crew that did the deck ... it was midwinter and wet ... we ended up eating lunch together many days ... nice guys! I was initially very pleased with the deck but after about 3 years some of the Trex (facia boards and 2 x 4 deck rail) began to warp and split. We tried to work with Trex but they were essentially unresponsive ... claimed installation was faulty (BS!). Chuck brought his crew out and replaced failed Trex with cedar... no charge. Trex = D- Village Builder = A. Two years ago Village Builder remodeled the Master Bath. We are totally satisfied with the result. Same crew that did the deck did most of the bath remodel. Subcontractors for plumbing, tile floor, and shower enclosure. A year ago Village Builder remodeled our kitchen and installed a bay window. We are very pleased with the results. Same crew did basic work with sub contractors for electrical, flooring and plumbing. We are geting to know the crew well! There were a few glitches that showed up after a couple of months --- these were promptly fixed to our satisfation. We especially appreciate that the Village Builder stands fully behind their work Did I mention they have a good crew??
Description of Work: Over a period of about 15 years the Village Builder has replaced our deck, remodeled the master bath, installed a bay window, and remodeled the kitchen.

During the building process, we lived just up the street and I would wander down on a daily basis and watch the progress. Throughout the months, I often came up with new ideas and Chuck was VERY good about making changes. It was funny to see the 'guys' roll their eyes whenever they saw me knowing I would say "look at what I saw in a sunset magazine!" Chuck encouraged us to do what we could ourselves(to save $). I did all the tiling in the bathrooms and kitchen and my husband and I screwed in deck boards and installed a wood floor in the study. The foundation was poured during the wet cold months of Nov and Dec. The 'guys' called it the 'foundation from h***'. Chuck had a great crew. Expert carpenters, meticulous wood finishers, and they were very patient with all my changes. During the first 15 years, the house did settle a bit, creating some cracks in the concrete entryway and a few cracks in the wall. Chuck and his crew returned and repoured the entryway and patched up the cracks. We have hired the Village Builders to do several other projects. I would definitely recommend the Village Builder if anyone is looking for a 'full service', professional, builder.
Description of Work: Chuck Noone and his crew took our ideas and rough sketches of our house design, cleaned them up, had the specs, drawings, permits all taken care of and then built the house from start to finish. Everything from foundation to finished wood work was done by the Village Builder crew. We ended up with a beautiful, unique, 3 story house that perfectly fit our family of five.

We wanted to build as green a home as we could and spoke with several local builders about using Rastra blocks instead of wood. Chuck was the only one who considered it and, after talking with his crew, decided to take on the challenge It was an unusual product, one that they had not used before. To learn the tricks of building with Rastra, we all (including architect John Koch) traveled to a Habitat for Humanity house site near Olympia, WA, to work with an experienced Rastra builder. The Village Builder crew were very responsive to our requests and did an excellent job of finishing the inside and outside of our unusual and beautiful home. We did hear from several previous sub-contractors that Chuck is very demanding. His crew is skilled in all aspects of construction and foreman Bruce McVicar is a woodworker artist, designing and constructing stair rails, furniture, and even a custom maple tree art work for our stair well wall. Eight years later we still call Chuck and Bruce for advice.
Description of Work: Village Builder Chuck Noone and his crew built our 3400 sq. feet two level home between 2004 and 2005.

Chuck did a thorough assessment of the room which is on the bottom level of a trilevel home and also sloped. As it was impossible to say what was behind the walls he provided different possible scenarios but it was clear we wouldn't know the exact extent of the work until the old walls were removed. When that was done we could see that the front and part of the side walls would need to be fired out as there was nothing but concrete and no insulation. We also have a pellet stove with a large brick backing which the new wall would have to abutt. Chuck's foreman came up with a nice solution for the brick and wall junction. New and additional insulation was placed in all the walls and new trim was put in at the floor and around windows and a sliding glass door. The entire rug had to be pulled up and then put back upon completion. Complicating matters was the large and extremely heavy weight machine in the way and the modem and router for the computer and phone. The workers could not have been more accommodating. They were able to move the weight machine into the middle of the room and work around it and also made sure to advise us when they needed to disconnect the modem and phone. I requested a little touchup from the painter after completion which was easily accommodated. My only complaint was that the insulation installation was contracted out for a very small job. I believe he could have done this himself saving a little money. Overall, a company very easy to work with. Very professional. Very friendly.
Description of Work: Family room had paneling and wallpaper I wanted removed which required tearout, new wallboard and trim.

They were great. I was midway through demo when I realized I didn't know what I was doing, and that weekend, I attended a charity auction for the local humane society. Village builders had donated a day of labor plus some materials. I bid over the recommended value, and couldn't have been happier. The owner came to my home to scope out the project, and he came again the day it started. The carpenter who did the work was awesome and took a liking to my dog. I paid a bit more for work past the 8 hours included in the charity auction, and the hourly rate was very fair (I can't remember offhand what it was). Billing was clear and easy. Hopefully I'll save some $$ to remodel my kitchen, and hire them again in a couple of years.
Description of Work: Bathroom remodel cementboard & wallboard. ( I wanted to do the whole project myself but got in over my head -- I demo'ed down to the studs, Village Builders put up all walls & patched the ceiling, and I did all of the tiling).

I had a really good experience with them as well. The business owner who I worked with really wanted me to be happy and satisfied. He set out at time line and within a day or two stuck with it perfectly which is unusual with a big job. All the different workers were all really professional and courteous. It seemed like everyone wanted me to be happy with what they were doing.
Description of Work: They did a complete gut job of a bathroom and they did a really nice job. There was lots of tile work and its got a pretty unusual shower, dual shower head thing. They tore out what was some horrible vinyl weird flooring material and put in new flooring and oak floor and made it continuous with some original flooring. They did a seamless job, you can't tell where the new one begins and the old one ends. They expanded an arch way. They did a lot of trimming in the house. They did a little bit of work in the master bedroom closet.
