We had some ideas about what we wanted in a kitchen, better results, great design, beautiful wood choices, excellent execution. We didn't want a standard, almost custom, plywood, OK workmanship kitchen. John arrived on the scene and listened to what we wanted and designed us a kitchen. We wanted an arts and craft style kitchen, with quarter sawn white oak. He made a design and ran it past us, changed it for our ideas. We were off and running. You start to realize that John has seen it all, done it all and heard it all. He can do standard cabinetry in any style, or he can crank up the quality to museum levels. The guy listens and really loves his work. Shortly into the project, our general contractor found out that some big posts where not going to be removed, being needed to hold up the ceiling. They were right in the middle of the kitchen, so something we going to have to change. We called John in and he design beautiful wood structures, with arches, to cover the posts. See first picture for a shot of John installing the first arch. We started to receive finishing samples from John. Do you like this color, do you like that color? We didn't think they had enough pizazz, so John came up with a more complicated finishing process, the required 3 levels of stains. The result was a finish that looks like a museum quality look. It is amazing. If you can get John to do work for you, challenge him to crank up the quality, he can do it. I'm an amateur woodworker and I can see mistakes. There are no mistakes in our kitchen. If you ask for one, John can design a secret door or spot in your cabinets. The spice shelf behind our stove is a piece of art. One great result is that we wanted 24" deep counters. John built us 24" deep drawers, with full extension hardware. This leaves you a huge amount of storage in the back of the drawers. We took a cabinet door to the glass shop to pick out the glass. The guy at the glass shop was looking at the door and said, "this door is old." Not really, it was brand new, but made by a master. If you are looking for the best cabinet maker in Corvallis/Albany area, this is the guy. You can expect the very best woodwork and get it.
