+ -1 moreHis name is Steve England. He was very professional. He had accurate cost estimates. He used professional sub-contractors, and he finished on time. I liked him when I met him, and his recommended way of doing the work fit what I wanted. He is great but expensive.

+ 0 moreThey occasionally ran into issues as you do with any extensive remodel. They always solved the problems in a quality way and kept me in the loop. Steve is very easy to work with. I trust him. There is a good reason he is always busy.
Description of Work: They installed new windows, new doors, a hardwood floor, worked on my deck, framed in a tray ceiling, installed new lighting. It was a pretty extensive remodel.

+ 0 moreSteve worked with us from before we put an offer on the existing house, talking about what we might do with it. Found us a house designer, and worked with us on the plans. Then built it. It is beautifully done.
Description of Work: Took down half of existing house and rebuilt, adding a new master bedroom and master bath, a den and a laundry room, and a three car garage. Put new windows in old part of house and updated. Kitchen, family room, and dining area are all new construction.

+ -1 moreOverall grade is an A. The place is fabulous. We want some of the credit for the design, but the craftsmanship is all England & Co. There may be cheaper people out there, but it would be hard to match the quality these guys produced. So why did I give them a B in quality? Little bitty things that maybe I should have demanded changed. I'm pretty fussy , so some things others wouldn't notice catch my eye. Most all of it is on the exterior. There are a few things I will offer advice on:Be ready ... know what you want when it is time to order. Steve knows what is coming and has done it a lot so he expects action on your part not procrastination. He's pretty good about giving you a time line, but sometimes things move fast. It's up to you to keep track of the bids so you know what is included and what isn't from the subs. It's my fault, but there were times when I wasn't sure what I was going to get for what price. England is honest so you don't have to worry about getting taken advantage of. He line items every expense in his draw request. He is really loyal to people he is familiar with. He buys locally and avoids the big boxes. I like that attitude, but I think sometimes there's a reason the big boys sell so much stuff. A better price is hard to argue with. Steve is a great guy. He was patient when we needed it and aggressive when it was appropriate. We were friend throughout the project , and I expect we will continue to be in the future.
Description of Work: England and Co. built a 3200 square foot house for us starting in May of 2011 and finishing in April of 2012. We did it in two phases. Foundation and weather tight shell was built out of pocket, and the rest was done on a construction loan.The reason it took nearly a year to complete is because of the time spent arranging the loan.Steve was prompt and professional in getting the bids for the loan and his reputation at OSU FED. CU was a big help. It cost the schedule a few months waiting for loan closure. I don't recommend this method now ,but it seemed like a good idea at the time. I had the site work done when England & Co took over. Steve arranged all the concrete work, bought all the materials, hired the framing crew and finishid the weather tight shell in 3 months.The building inspector said "Wow, These guys are real professionals."The materials were delivered on time in the right quantities. Steve inspected the material periodically for any defects that might affect quality. Kiln dried lumber only, lots of nails no OSB. The second phase was the finish work, inside and out. By the time we got the loan the weather had turned bad. Most all the work was inside stuff so it didn't affect the subs much.They did plumbing, electrical, mechanical, cabinets, paint, finish carpentry, installed appliances , masonry, tile work , flooring and everything else that I can't think of right now. There were lots of trades coming and going. It all went pretty smoothly. In my opinion one of Steve's strengths is his rapport with his subs. Most all of them are experienced tradesmen that are skilled at their jobs. They have long time professional and personal relationships with him. If a problem arises, odds are, they know how to fix it. Those who are less familiar to Steve are subject to more instruction and scrutiny. There were a couple days when a language barrier caused a little confusion. Steve is pretty thrifty. His crew uses all the materials. You don't get much of a bon fire at the end.

+ 0 more.Steve England met with us to give us a bid. He promptly provided us with a bid that allowed me to do some of the work and I was billed each month with an itemized bill for the time and materials used. This method provided accurate accounting and kept us within the provided estimate. Subcontractors were provided but I was always consulted in case alternates were prefered. Steve England was very involved in the construction and they worked about 3 months, then left me to finish the project. Steve was very good about being sure I could handle the transition.
Description of Work: Steve England's Co built 2 additions to our 40 year old home. One addition was approx 20' X 35' great room [kitchen-family] and the second was a master bedroom suite and work shop of nearly the same size. The additions were on opposite sides of the house and included reroofing the entire home. The work was done on time and very high quality. The finished result blended the additions so that the new look gives no clue that the home was originally built 40 years ago. I am still working on finishing the interiors which was the way we contracted with Steve England to do the work. I am very pleased with the work done and the finished result.

+ -1 moreThe job actually went very well and there were no problems. He came in and built the house and it was done in no time. He knows what he is doing. The best thing is the crew that he has working with him. He is really excellent. He has put together a team of sub-contractors that are really good. His workers were really good. They are really cooperative and real skilful, and they know what they are doing. I think that the price was excellent and it was really reasonable. He always responded whenever I called.

The project started with the demo of a manufactured home and out-buildings and building a new custom home per our requirements and specifications. + -1 moreHe has been very responsive and responsible. I enjoyed working with Steve (England) and the people he hired. He stayed within the budget except for a few changes I requested. He completed the house construction in a timely manner, and very solid quality. I would recommend him to others.
Description of Work: England & Co built the main structure of my house. He handled the framing and deck construction and served as the general contractor for the foundation, roofing, and siding. The house is 2400 sf. Construction began June 2010 and was completed by the end of October.

Description of Work: Mr. England needed to have a customer see my newly refinished hardwood floor. It was refinished by the subcontractor he uses. I spoke to the customer on the phone and gave them a tour of my home and discussed the benefits of the finish that was used. Mr. England was very appreciative and allowed one of his carpenters to spend about two hours tightening up my two sets of wood stairs in preparation for carpet to be put on them that day. It was a win win for both of us.
