I first used Budget Blinds in Dallas, Texas. When I moved to Corvallis in 2014 I wanted to have cellular blinds on all the windows in my new home. I had 3 companies respond to my bid request. Budget blinds was the lowest bid by a small amount. I selected them for the job. They were very professional. The installed motorized blinds in the living room and manual ones in the other rooms. Four years later I had a problem with two of the motorized blinds. Budget quickly ordered new blinds for no charge as the blinds were still under warranty. Kyle (the installer) installed the new blinds. Great company with great service.

Representative visited my house, helped me decide on what type of blind and fabric (semi-transparent) to install. Measured the blind correctly, managed the manufacture's production process and made the installation. Installation was quick, and the blind fit and worked perfectly. The shade repair was done in the local shop, then the company's employee installed the shade quickly and efficiently. The repair took a little longer than I expected it to, but the company kept me informed and completed wth work properly.
Description of Work: Sold and installed very large roller-shade blind. In another room, repaired and re-installed large pull-down/pull-up shade.

Don, the technician was pleasant and spent nearly an hour, but finally said he'd didn't have the right part and would have to take it to the shop. A week later I called since I hadn't heard anything. He said he had a hard time replacing the part, but then the blind still wasn't working correctly--needed new strings and new springs or something. Told me it was probably under warranty. (I told him I didn't think so, but not sure--checked with my wife and it wasn't.) If not under warranty they could get me a NEW one if they couldn't fix it. I told him to try to fix it and would talk to him in a week. A week went by, again no call so I called him. He asked if someone in the office had called me. I said, no. He said he'd call me back in 2 minutes. I waited 2 hours and then called his office. Travis returned my call a half hour after that--he was 4 hours into the repair, but didn't know what was wrong, BUT he could get me a NEW one just like it for $216. I told him I was not happy, and could get one just like it from Home Depot for $161. Doesn't it sound like a scam--oh, gee, we can't fix your blind but we can sell you a NEW one. If you want to buy blinds, who knows, Budget might be okay. But if you want your blinds fixed, DON'T deal locally. Send your blind to Texas or California or wherever the factory is. (Heck, just go to Home Depot--cheaper and better service!) P.S. I did not pay Budget, but they have my blind that I could have sent to the factory for repair. I head for Home Depot tomorrow.
Description of Work: We had a 4 year old blind that did not pull up all the way at one end. The company we bought it from would charge $45 plus shipping to repair it. I thought it would be nice to give a local company my business so I called Budget. I think they said $90 per hour for the repair. I said come on over.

Everything went well. Penny was very nice and professional. She represented her product well, and I am very pleased with the blinds. The cost of Budget Blinds products seem a bit high, but having an on-line savings and a coupon she used, helped to make them more affordable. Her installer did an excellent job as well. Very good customer service.

This was an exceptional experience. Joy was extremely helpful in giving us suggestions for different areas of the house. She was knowledgeable and experienced. A couple of weeks after we ordered the blinds she called us to give an update of the progress. The factory had run out of the particular tape we ordered so it would take a little longer than anticipated. When they were continuing to delay, she called the factory and asked that the blinds without tape be sent separately (which was not the factory policy, but she insisted). The blinds arrived and our installation was scheduled. On the afternoon of the installation the blinds with tape did come in and Budget Blinds made a separate trip to our house with the additional blinds to be installed on the same day. The installer was also wonderful. He answered any questions we had, asked us to look at the blinds and tell him if we found anything wrong with any of them. There were two blinds that had been manufactured incorrectly. He reordered new ones and came out and replaced them within a couple of weeks. At that time we also found out that he had ordered a new set for our sliding glass doors, because the head rail was slightly bent. We had never even noticed that! All in all, our experience with Budget Blinds in Corvallis was outstanding. Due to the excellent experience, we made contact with Heather Van Eyk, the co-owner of Budget Blinds who also owns her own separate design company, and asked her to be our designer and consultant with some bathroom and kitchen remodel. We have been very impressed with the style of business practiced by Budget Blinds and the professionalism. We have no hesitation in recommending them, and we would use them again, without question.

Update: I wanted to thank the business owner for responding to my original review. It's been almost a year since the blinds were installed -- they still look and work great. Overall, a good quality product for the price. Consultation It took place in early July w/ Stacy, the owner. She was very personable and informative, took measurements right there, and provided me with a quote. Process It took me a few weeks to figure out if I wanted to do business with Budget Blinds and then to decide what I wanted. The blinds didn't arrive and weren't installed until mid-October. If I had known from the start that it would have taken that long, I probably wouldn't have been so disappointed. However, I was provided with an installation date, which was more like late August, but the blinds never arrived. Apparently, they hadn't even shipped yet on the date they were to be installed. This happened two more times. At one point, I wasn't sure the blinds were ever going to get here. Communication could have been better: they tried to keep me updated but sometimes they didn't. Once I ended up waiting all day for the installer. I finally called and was told the blinds still hadn't arrived, which would have been nice to know that earlier. There was definitely some lack of communication and even some mis-communication among the employees and myself, between the shop and its vendors. They did apologize profusely for the delays and I know that Stacy didn't find what was happening acceptable. Once the blinds arrived, they were installed quickly. The installer was very courteous and helpful Product The cellular shades are nice for the price. Like everyone else, I got a 35% discount plus free features, such as cordless for all four blinds. The blinds are still working just fine and are easy to clean (vacuum). The blackout shades are great. The and quot;no questions askedand quot; warranty means they'll replace each blind once as long as you live in the house, so that's good. The cordless lifts are great and so easy to use! However, the fabric glued on to the top of the shades, the part that attaches to the interior window frame, has loosened and sort of bubbled on each shade. I will probably just fix this by re-gluing sections of the fabric. Overall, the shades are perfect for the rooms they are in: crisp and clean, provide privacy, and don't hide the lovely vintage window molding. I noted that I wouldn't buy again from this business but I'm not sure. I want to be fair because I like the convenience of buying from a local business and I like the owner and employees. What happened was most likely not their fault. But I'm not sure if I could deal with all the back and forth, mix-ups, etc., if something like what happened were to occur again.

Hi Member, Thank you so much for the constructive feedback. I appreciate your willingness too be honest and take the time to let us know what we can improve on. All our blinds are custom order and unfortunately I don't have any control over the blinds being made. There are many variables that effect that process like fabric out of stock and on back order, parts the same. I really wish I had more control but I don't and this is really hard for me as a business owner. One thing we can and are trying really hard is the communication between our vendors and customers. Its really hard because we have so many customers per month and can't micromanage them all. Lots of customers have multiple orders from different vendors and so it makes it even more difficult to manage. I'm out in sales so I don't have access to the computer systems to check on my orders. In the past 10 years of owning my business, our product has literally come in within two to three weeks. When the economy went down, our vendors stopped being open 24 hour production and working weekends. That has hurt us tremendously. Also, worse than that are the vendors are not carrying all the parts and fabrics or materials in stock sitting on the shelves any longer because it cost money if it doesn't sale. So they order in big quantities when they get their orders in. This is not excuses but facts as a lot has changed. I'm sorry and I wish it were different. But again, its all custom and things happen where there are delays. And this has been hard for us because everyone ask us when are the blinds coming in and we try too give you an answer based upon what has been the norm for us. We are adapting too the new vendor lead time changes as well and hope that we will be able too improve that communication better. I do have control over our service too you for repairs and so if you need us that is what we are here for. If you had to pay for the blind repair, then we must have been too your house for a repair already because after your 1 year warranty expiration date, we still will come out to your house and give you a free repair one time. If this is your first repair and we charged you for it then I'm sorry and that was a mistake and we need to refund you your money. You can call our office tomorrow and talk too Ronda our office manager about it or I can have her to contact you. We would have too pull your folder and verify the information. After updating our kitchen area this Fall, we were looking to replace some old window blinds. We found it very frustrating as a couple of the blind businesses we contacted involved having to call a designer to come to our house, a separate person to measure and then for that person to return for the installation both costing separate fees this in addition to the cost for the blinds. It was only by word of mouth someone mentioned Budget Blinds. We found that the closest area store was in Corvallis, our area zip code being serviced by their branch. In early November we contacted the Corvallis Budget Blind branch which immediately scheduled an appointment for a couple days later. As mentioned Bre helped us with our selection and measured. A little less than a month later returned to install the binds. The total cost included everything. We think it would have cost more and would have taken much more time if we had gone with one of the other companies. Budget Blinds seemed very efficient, responsive, and competent. The blinds were completed in the promised time frame. Both representatives arrived on time or called if they were delayed. We were very happy with the quality of the blinds. For the larger kitchen window, the material was bamboo in three sections which not only looks beautiful but appears well made. The patio window has a vertical blind which is easy to care for; we were given several extra slats in case needed for later. It too seems well made and fits well in the kichen. The living room window treatment is a combination of wood and vinyl in 3 sections, sturdy and well put together;it really improves the appearance of the room. The home was built in 1972.
Description of Work: On 11-5-10 a representative from Budget Blinds in Corvallis came to our home and discussed the possibilities in window treatments for 3 particular windows, one a sliding patio door and large window in the kitchen area, and one large Living room window. Bre was very knowledgeable and with her samples she was quickly able to help us narrow our selections of materials and colors suitable for the area. She then very quickly measured the three windows.The final cost was calculated at $ 964 after a 35% discount and an added fee of $3.00 for one window blind removal. Completion of the blinds was estimated to be sometime after Thanksgiving, which proved to be very close to that time. On 12-1-10 Matt from Budget Blinds brought the completed blinds to install; he answered our questions about care of each and the warrenties.
