Justin the owner had been a long time friend of mine. I was there when he originally started the business and even help him with jobs on weekends in the past when he didn't have enough crew members available. I was very saddened when I asked him what he'd charge me for the trees in my backyard. As I had purchased a home with my fiance whom I've since split from leaving me household responsibilities outside my capacity, so I need to contract out the work I cannot perform. After 16 years of friendship Justin relayed he was unable to even send charlie or one of his other crew members to perform work for me, because it made his girlfriend uncomfortable. I find that very unprofessional and can't fathom how that will continue to affect the business he's able to perform with out making his girlfriend uncomfortable? Maybe just can't take jobs or send a crew to any womans house that lives alone or actually needs assistance? Anyways sad to say after knowing the Owner for 16 years & having worked for the company I have to use another company because of Mr. Gammons personal life.

Justin was able to bid and perform the work within a week of my initial call. He was very friendly, and provided me with multiple detailed options.

Justin was great, and his team worked continuously except for a small (and much needed) break to get the project done in one day. They listened to my preferences for the wood and how I wanted long sections for making boards later, and standard rounds for firewood or other woodworking projects. They loaded my co-workers trailer as well, so excess wood was easily taken care of and went off to a good home. The site was cleaned up and tidy, and the wood was stacked well. During the estimate, Justin was great about explaining why certain things should happen, and I appreciated his time talking about the whole property and health of other trees.

They did it all in about 3 hours and they did really well. They showed up when they said they were going to and did the work that was requested of them. The only thing I didn’t like was the amount of time that we had to schedule in advance because they are so busy, but that’s a good thing.

He called right away to set up something. We were flexible and he said that he could come out a few hours at a time over the next week or schedule the whole thing at a future time. We agreed that part time over a few days was fine and he gave us a great deal of $1,000 for 70 stumps or about $14/stump. We found a baby bird's nest and ask him to leave one stump. I worried he'd forget or something, but he didn't and worked around the baby birds. We were thrilled with the price and he did a very good job.

Called Justin, and he promptly responded to my call within hours. We scheduled an appointment for the next day, and happily his crew had just finished a project in town, so they were able to complete the work the same day. Three men showed up with a bucket truck and chipper, and were able to complete the job in 75 mins. They did a nice job cleaning up after themselves.

I would certainly use them again. Arrived on time, went right to work. Listened to all needs and performed beautifully. Cleaned up the mess and moved wood to where the donation attendant could access.

Three men arrived around 8am and worked until 4pm. They originally thought it might take more than one day, but they were able to get all the trees chopped and mulched in one day. These were 30-60 foot tall trees. They did exactly what I asked and they were pleasant and hard workers. They put the chip piles in two places on my property as I requested and their chipper does a fantastic job of making just the right size chips for my landscape.

The date and cost are estimates. It's been over a year, and I don't know where I'd find this info other than a checkbook search. This was the second time I'd used them for tree removal, before which I'd had no experience with professionals, or with Oregon soil. It's mostly clay, as is our property, except for a filled-in semi-circle on the S side of the house, which has no trees, except for the 2 oaks we had removed, right at the edge of the retaining wall below our deck, in other words, on the inside edge of this semi-circle. It area is flat, grassy, and had a well-defined edge. When the oaks fell, upper branches which landed near the outer edge punctured this edge in several places, causing soil to fall down the embankment around that edge. Having no prior experience, I didn't know I should have asked about those branches, or insisted on their removal before the tree was felled. The "lawn" edge has not recovered. Below the "broken" edge, I see corners of cinder blocks. Apparently that edge had been shaped with them by prior owners. I chalked it up to my inexperience, and since they were otherwise OK, I used them the next year. Should the "damage" be chalked up to their lack of concern for the appearance of my "lawn"? You'd have to ask another professional, I guess. I'll probably use them again.

Justin was very responsive to my first call. He called back and set up a time to come assess and give a bid. He even called when he thought we was running late by a few minutes. Very conscientious. His bid was very reasonable, better than others. This is because he has the right equipment and is able to be very efficient. I originally scheduled for later in the month as I needed to remove a fence and clear the access to our back yard. I got it done sooner than planned and Justin was able to reschedule and fit us in. They came right when scheduled. They worked efficiently and were even careful not to trample our neighbors plants. They went beyond the call of duty and removed piles of leaves and rotten apples that I had yet to put in my green barrel. Awesome!I I'm so glad I rescheduled because the very next day the snow came. The trees were so rotten and hollowed that I think they would have fallen under the weight of ice. I highly recommend Big Wood and will use them for all my tree needs.

We had three trees in our yard that were overgrown with broken branches from the last wind storm and we had a mature cedar tree that needed to be removed from a planter in the back patio area. I spoke with Justin who was very cordial and arranged a time to do the bid and received a detailed estimate as promised and a follow up phone call explaining the bid and what to expect. I really appreciated the time he took to outline the scope of the work they would do and the cost of each tree. The crew arrived on the appointed day on time. I was working in another town but when I got home I could not believe what a neat and tidy job they did. The cedar tree that was removed from the patio area was transformed into neat rows of firewood without disturbing a block or paver in the patio area. Two out of the three trees designated to be trimmed were done to perfection. I felt the third needed another two or three limbs trimmed so I sent pictures to Justin the next day and explained what I wanted. The crew came back that same day and did more work on the tree. It looks better than it ever has. I am very satisfied with the quality of the work the did and that there were no extra charges or surprises. I will definitely use them again.

The is the second time I've had Justin and his crew come to do work on our trees. The first time was this summer after we decided to remove 3 diseased pines. The crew came right on time, stopped only once for a very short lunch break, then worked right on through until around 6:30pm. One of our pines was entangled in our neighbor's tree and when they were done, not a branch of our neighbor's maple was disturbed. After they finished they left our property in immaculate condition - not one pine needle remained on the sidewalk! Justin also arranged for a local charitable organization to come and remove the wood left behind which was cut into very neat pieces. This time I hired Justin and crew to trim and shape our Magnolia tree. Again, on time and and did a fantastic job. I didn't think our tree could look this good! I've had several compliments from our neighbors also. After we had our pines removed, I referred Justin to our neighbor to remove a pine for her and he did the same wonderful job. Just last week I told another new neighbor about Big Wood Tree and knew he would be pleased with their services as well as their prices which we've found very reasonable. My husband insists on 3 estimates and Justin's was the most reasonable by far.

Big Tree was not the absolute lowest cost offer, but close, and had the equipment needed to cut and chip much of the trees. A couple of these were very large - about 36" in diameter, and several were in the 24 - 30" range. They worked with me to figure out which parts to chip and what we could leave for firewood donations. Since we were starting some new construction, I was less worried about protecting the existing landscape. That said, they did an excellent job, removing the trees with causing much damage to existing shrubs and smaller trees, grinding the stumps down and cleaned up the site very well. Overall, very pleased.

First of all, I called and made an appointment for a date in August. Our house in Corvallis is a rental home, so I drove down early that day from Portland to meet the workers. They didn't show. I called Justin the owner and he said he had no record of our appointment. I know I called and wrote it down on the calendar. Anyway, we made a new appointment, and he said he would give us a 10% discount, plus a loader at no cost. It seemed ok, however, if you see there add in the yellow pages, where I first noticed their name, and tell them that you saw the add, they will give you a 10% discount which we would have had anyway. That being said, they came on the 11th of Sept. and spent 8 hours of hard work cutting and trimming trees. It looked good. Two other things. There was never a official written bid, which I like, but I thought they said they would grind the stumps and they never did. Thats why I like stuff in writing. They left the logs in the front for a gleaner outfit to pick up and that will take place this week. Overall, beside a few glitches, the work turned out looking good and the workers were real nice guys.

Justin called twice before the originally scheduled time to tell us he and his crew would be later than he anticipated. There were 2 people in the crew + Justin, the owner. Once they arrived, Justin asked that we go over the yard to confirm he understood which trees we wanted trimmed back and which ones we wanted completely cut off. He and his crew worked steadily for 2 hours to do the work we wanted done. They were careful to trim only the trees we discussed. The crew and Justin picked up all trimmings and took them out of our yard. Justin was pleasant and professional.

They did what I asked and the price was quite low.

After our unseasonal snow storm, the area was riddled with downed trees. We found this company on Angie's list, called, and spoke to the owner, Justin. He said he might be able to fit us in the next day, Friday (today). He arrived with his crew in the afternoon, and within three hours, the problem was taken care of. Highly recommend.

Justin arrived on time for the estimate and also for the actual work. He and his helper reviewed the work to be done before actually starting. Wrok done very satisfactorally including the yard cleanup on completion to trimming.

We choose another company that we believed had more experience, but we were very impressed with Big Wood Tree Expert and would have been happy to work with them. They were a close second choice - almost a flip of a coin. We would feel secure hiring them.

Justin did the bid on site, gave me some differnet options. Showed up on time when promised for estimate and for job. Justin was very friendly flexible and affordable. Justin and his helper removed all debris and did a quick and thorough job and left the logs as asked and removed and chipped the rest. They have the right tools and were careful. Thanks!!!
