Sitka Projects takes pride in being a full service General Contractor while at the same time delivering our very own line of custom cabinetry. Every client becomes our most valued customer when they invite us into their home and we work to craft their vision into reality. Client satisfaction is our most important asset and we strive for excellence with every initial bid, project design, and project completion.
He was friendly, super responsive and extremely knowledgeable right from the start so I always felt like our project was in good hands. He was great at keeping me up-to-date on timing and next steps in the project which was a godsend as a stay-at-home mom with two babies under two years-old. Despite knowing he had other projects running at the same time, he always managed to make me feel like I was a priority and was even able to accommodate me when I added installation of new baseboards and door and window casings of our entire main level midway through the project. I had contacted him knowing 100% what I wanted in my design but he was able to make some recommendations, like taking our tiling up to the ceiling over the kitchen sink and creating some added dimension in our crown moulding, which took the final look to another level of perfection. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out and truly have the space I dreamed about. Also, his tiling guy is incredible!! You can't go wrong hiring Brad!
Description of Work: Brad is the Owner and GC at Sitka Projects and was absolutely wonderful to work with! I hired him for a complete remodel of our kitchen, installing built-ins in our adjoining family room, refinishing the hardwoods in our entire first floor and replacing all of our baseboards and window and door casings on the mail level.

Sitka is extremely professional and easy to work with. I checked references before hiring Sitka, and prior customers were very happy with this company. We had a gas fireplace, stone wall, bookshelves and cabinets installed across one wall of our living room. The final result is beautiful. Brad Bowsher (owner) is dependable, honest, and skilled. He maintains great communication throughout the duration of the project with the customer, sub contractors, suppliers, and his workmen. His workmen are pleasant, punctual, neat, and very skilled.

I would say the project went very well--from design phase, wherein I had a lot of input, to quality of work. The whole crtew was very pleasant throughout the project. Mother Nature was the only negative--Oregon experienced its worst winter in ages, so getting to the site(we live on a hill), and the ability to get products on an expected basis was not in our control. The project turned out beautifully. I would recommend Brad and his crew, and I would say the people with whom he contracts are excellent. All inspections passed with flying colors and high compliments for the quality of work performed.
Description of Work: Sitka tore a bathroom back to the studs, re-insulated walls, corrected venting and lighting, re-engineered bathroom water and sewer lines and brought everything up to code, converted tub into walk-in shower with tile to the ceiling and glass door with double-handled towel bar embedded, tiled floor, and built custom cabinets--eliminating old dangerous design features...new fixtures all around.
Our project had a lot of moving parts and despite a couple of unforeseen hiccups, it went very well. Sitka Projects was our highest priced proposal. We had confidence in Brad and could not be more pleased with the result. Brad and his crew were professional and collaborative, on-time, hard-working, conscientious, and friendly — a pleasure to work with. Sitka could see our vision and helped us achieve what we wanted to accomplish. Brad shared ideas and sources for quality materials we purchased to complement the project, and he gave referrals to additional service providers outside the proposal’s scope. Subs were good. Sitka’s crew kept the site organized, areas well-protected and tidy, and the overall caliber of craftsmanship . . . outstanding. We would hire Sitka Projects again. Thank you Brad and crew!

On the day the guys arrived early and jumped right into the job. By the end of the day a new beam was installed in the ceiling to replace the wall and we had our space increased and our home had a new open feeling. We were very pleased with the whole process and would hire them again any time. It is great to find a company that can provide the service that they said they would and do it quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: We were doing a kitchen renovation and we decided to remove a wall and open up our kitchen to the dining room. These days it is difficult to find a contractor to take on a small project. Luckily I found Sitka Projects. Bradley replied to my request for an estimate and we met a few days later. We agreed that it was a relatively simple job and I accepted the bid for the job and a date was scheduled to do the work.

The project was finished on time and craftsmanship was great.
Description of Work: Sitka Projects completed a major remodel updating nearly every room (minus the kitchen) in our home from the 1970's to the present while we lived in it. They completed the project on time (the family was very grateful as we had no showers for 6 weeks and only one commode for our family of five!) and the budget was within reasonable range of our initial estimate. Brad and his team were quick to resolve any issues that came up and were also very respectful of the family and our things as they worked. As we contemplate finishing the house with an updated kitchen Brad and Sitka Projects are at the top of the list for contractors that we will reach out to on the next project.

I hired Sitka Projects to install a gas fireplace in my living room. This was a new addition to my living room. There was no existing fireplace, just an empty corner of the room. Sitka Projects handled the framing, sheetrock, finish work and painting along with coordinating the gas furnace install and electrical work. All aspects of this project ran smoothly. The work was done in a very professional and timely manner. I was very impressed with the coordination of all the different sub-contractors. Every one of them were very respectful of my time and my house, always arriving on time, cleaning up when they were done and the work they did was high quality. I would highly recommend Sitka Projects for any home improvement project you might have.

Brad and his team at Sitka Projects are wonderful! We found SP through Angie’s List and were able to get a very competitive quote quickly. Brad’s team was very respectful while in our home, and meticulous at protecting our floors and countertop while fixing our backsplash drywall and installing new tile. We were so pleased with the quality and the result that we are hoping to take on a second project (updating our cabinets) shortly here. I would wholeheartedly recommend Sitka Projects for your next home improvement. We will definitely continue to use them in the future, and are relieved to have found such a quality contractor – really takes the nerves out of remodeling!

Bradley Bowsher, with Sitka Projects was referred to us by the company who installed our zero gas fireplace, because a complete fireplace remodel was necessary before and after installation. Sitka Projects was recommended because their excellent work and attention to detail makes the job easier for the company installing the fireplace. Our previous fireplace needed to be completely removed and the surrounding fireplace (tiles, mantle, molding) remodeled to fit the new zero gas fireplace. Sitka Project prepared the area around the project, so there would be no damage to our beautiful cherry hardwood and tile floors. They were responsible for fireplace demolition, replacing the moldings and installing new tiles. The work was excellent and their cleanup, following the project was meticulous. Bradley Bowsher continually kept in contact with us to answer questions and keep us informed. We could not be happier with the remodel.

We'd been contemplating a kitchen remodel for sometime and were finishing up our design/layout wishlist (mostly putting things back where they were, but with a few refinements) and material choices, when we started interviewing general contractors. Although Sitka was not the lowest bid we received, it also wasn't the most expensive, and we felt Brad seemed knowledgeable, reasonable and straightforward. Sitka drew up a design plan and detailed scope of work that really respected our budget, we signed the contract and they got to work. Demolition, electrical, plumbing, insulation/drywall, ducting/ventilation, structural supplementation, flooring, tile, counter tops and painting were all handled by subcontractors. Some were great, others less so, but it was nice having someone else organize their efforts. If there were issues at the end of a day we only had to communicate with one person, and Brad was always available and responsive. Some things, such the drywall arch, took a few tries to get just right, but we always felt that our concerns were heard and addressed in a professional manner. The Sitka crew installed the cabinets and windows, the attendant trim and special items such as drawer dividers, on door shelving, recycling and garbage inserts, door and drawer pulls, and some wood flooring that had to be matched and patched. Also the pocket door and its soft-close hardware. We appreciated that the crew took pride in doing their job well -- they really put effort into making sure everything was aligned, flush and working properly and smoothly. They seemed to sincerely care about their work on our kitchen, and whenever they were on site they were always polite and professional, willing to answer questions and address concerns. At a couple points in our job suppliers (the window manufacturer and the counter top distributor) caused major delays in our schedule. We appreciated Brad's calm and the way he kept the lines of communication open so we never had to wonder what was happening. Our new kitchen is about 6 months old now and we're really happy with it. It has everything we wanted and it came in pretty much on budget, even with a splurge on expensive counter top material. In hindsight I'd say if we *had* to do it again we'd still pick Sitka, but happily we picked them the first time around so now all we have to do is enjoy our kitchen and cook up something tasty for dinner!
Description of Work: Complete kitchen tear out and remodel -- no expansion but included new cabinets, countertops, windows, framing for pocket door installation and conversion of an old doorway into a drywall arch.

They did a horrible job. They also refused to come back to fix it. They claimed the conditions were such that it couldn't be fixed. We hired a different company that came in and did a beautiful job. They were able to make everything look beautiful.
Description of Work: They worked on our hardwood floors.
Overall the design was pretty well thought out. The work was performed as per the design. The overall quality was very good, and seems to be holding up as good as can be expected. The final price was a bit higher than the estimate, and some of that was due to feature changes we requested along the way, unforeseen construction issues which were uncovered during the job, and unforeseen complications. The work was performed by some very good, and some just ok sub-contractors. Some of the sub's didn't seem to have a vision of the final product, and as a result some of their work had to be redone later, sometimes their work was fixed by the homeowner (in order to hold schedule). One surprise along the way was when we were informed toward the end of the project that our high end custom bathroom would only be getting a cheap wood baseboard on the tile floor, and if we wanted a tile baseboard it would cost extra. We were a bit shocked at the cost of installing the tile baseboard, and also that this was discussed earlier.

We were very satisfied with Sitka Projects and pleased with the end result. They provided a rough estimate and remained within the parameters of their estimate. They left plenty of time for subs to complete each portion of the project and stayed within the projected schedule. They were good with following up with us throughout the process. They worked well with Evergreen Gas and communicated with them so that everything went smoothly. We found Sika Projects to be very professional and true to their word.

Toby came in and helped me design exactly what I wanted and added elegant little improvements such as gentle arches where I hadn't envisioned any, plus some recessing that looked amazing when I finally saw it. He helped me choose some leaded glass for the windowed doors as well as hardware (which I had already picked but he helped me winnow it down). We finally settled on a design and they brought all the custom made pieces built off site. It was painted in house and they were very careful and clean. They put in lighting which was well worth the money because the lighted hutch has changed the feel of our living and dining room. They were clean and respectful. There was a bit of a delay due to painter issues and a door being cut incorrectly. Nonetheless, the drawers, the way the doors were so carefully hung, and the skill with which that built-in was put into a slightly askew alcove so that it looks perfect, was admirable. Even people who have known us a long time look at it and wonder if it was always there because it fits so perfectly in the space. I wish I had a photo of the hutch. I know they do and if they feel like attaching it, they have our permission.

From the start it was obvious that Brad is sincere about understanding what customers are looking for so that he gets the job done right. I appreciated the fact that at the beginning he requests a retainer to do the design piece, which he credits later to the bill if hired to do the project. Though that might be off-putting to some people as it it not the industry norm, I actually think it makes sure both customer and contractor have some skin in the game, and therefore are more invested in collaborating. He is careful and methodical, and asks a lot of questions. As we have an older home, once his team started the demo work, then inevitably thorny problems arose, but he consulted with us and suggested some creative solutions that worked out quite well - especially a tricky turn in one hallway involved in a bedroom entryway. One member of his team - Ryan - should be particularly called out for the meticulous work he did to make sure that the new construction matched the existing decorative elements. When towards the end of the elevator project our oven suddenly conked out on us, Brad's team were able to step in quickly to demo the existing oven cabinet and build a new one to fit a larger pair or ovens. Their flexibility and responsiveness to this unanticipated need emblematizes the excellent customer service they provide. We would definitely work with them again for any large or small project.
Description of Work: converted existing antiquated elevator shaft into larger shaft to accommodate new elevator, reinforcing new shaft, carving out portions of several rooms and part of garage, refinishing those rooms, finishing elevator interior to match trim of house including installing marble tile floor, rebuilding shelves/cupboard in garage, installing new trap-door ladder to attic, removing old oven cabinet and building new cabinet to house new appliance.

This project was really fun to be part of. Beautiful home in SW Portland with excellent Mahogany trim and fine woodwork throughout the home. The construction of the home is superb. We constructed a new elevator shaft, pit, performed all the finish work inside the elevator car, and the finish work to the surrounding walls/ceilings/floors/trim/doors/cabinets that were impacted. Great project and excellent people to work for! Thank you for the review!!

Brad Bowsher took the time to establish a trust relationship through the bidding process and did not disappoint throughout the entire project. This was a complete bathroom remodel involving extensive and lengthy tile removal just to get through the preparatory stage. This of necessity extended the completion date, but everyone adapted well. The new vanity and cabinetry was top notch, and in the end, everything pulled together beautifully. Both Sitka's subcontractors and their in-house personnel were all extremely competent and pleasant to work with. I would highly recommend Sitka for any remodeling needs.

Sitka offered great advise and gave us the BIGGEST bang for our buck compared to any other contractor we interviewed. All kitchen remodels are expensive, but really consider going the custom cabinet versus pre-built route. You can tailor your materials & design to fit your budget and have a better investment in the long run. We had such a small space that every inch of cabinet/countertop real estate was valuable. If we can offer a bit of advise. LISTEN to the contractor you choose. When we finally "heard" that a small insignificant wall had to come down or there would be no place to put the stove, we realized these guys really know what they're talking about (looking back, we can't figure out why that wall was so important to us). In reading other member comments, we agree that Sitka was seamless to work with and they performed excellent work. What we don't understand, is how Angie's List allowed an Overall "C" review from a member that states they are "not sure if they have used this company or not." In the research phase, we would find this type of review useless and a waste of time to read, not to mention offensive to the reputation of the company being reviewed.
Description of Work: IN THE BEGINNING: It took us a year before we were ready to remodel our kitchen. We interviewed five contractors from Angie's List, went to Home & Remodeling shows - had a few contractors come out to talk with us from there, and changed our design thoughts in the meantime. One by one, we checked each contractor off our list. Sitka Projects was the first interviewed and remained at the top the entire time. A PLEASANT SURPRISE: We understand the value of paying for a design rendering, which gives you a more accurate idea of actual cost and a visual of the completed project. Some contractors quoted an outrageous sum, above and beyond the project cost, that we were just not willing to invest in, while others didn't offer any design services at all. Sitka's design was very detailed, reasonable and we were pleasantly surprised that it was credited, once we pulled the trigger. OFF & RUNNING: The process of remodeling is not for everyone, but if you can go into it with an open mind and know that “things” will come up, then Brad and his crew are ideal and easy to work with and we promise the end result will be everything you dreamed and possibly more. With their calm and cool approach, every snag we hit (which were very few for a 109 year old house), Sitka found a solution. We work from home, so during construction, the crew tread as lightly as possible to accommodate us. Every person involved with the project were professional, respectful and a joy to see on the job each day. Brad is a master communicator, updating on weekly schedule, changes and keeping the project moving forward. THE END: From the initial consultation to the design process to the finished room, this was a remodel DREAM as opposed to the nightmare, you often hear about. What we ended up with was beyond our wildest dreams. We got custom cabinetry, designed and built by an extraordinary craftsman who left no detail undone. Sitka Projects took our tiny kitchenette size kitchen and turned it into a functioning, beautiful space that is now in scale with the rest of the house. The experience was so positive that we were sad the day they pulled the work trailer out of the driveway. Sitka provides quality work, they are competitive and reasonable and we wish them one success after another. Would we work with Sitka Projects again? ABSOLUTELY!
