They built a pantry and brought it in and he went from the corner wall all the way to the door covering up the light switch plate and he went I guess I have to redo that and I said when then electrician come in instead of him redo the whole thing well put it on the other side of the hall way so he would come in the kitchen and turn it on before. His counter top is not the granite stuff and he had mis measured by more than a 3 quarters of an inch so he went ahead and just stuck a piece on about an half inch wide. We had to replace the whole counter top rather than small part. He was doing another job while he was doing ours so we said we will wait. We didn’t get the job finished until February and he said it’s because we were complaining about everything. he only had one poor guy working on him and he was not up any of the codes and stuff like that. He brought his wife and boy did she give us a problem. He did the walk through check list, he didn’t want to but he didn’t. Am like look how the bottom stair is sticking way out and he pasted more wood over it. The stair was anywhere between 10 and a half deep on the 8 stair to 12 inches deep and the height was same way. It was way off code and he didn’t use proper wood.
Description of Work: He went bankrupt on us and refused to do the repair. He did hand rails that wasn’t code. He put trim over the stove that was a fire hazard. We had to wait from 2004 and the floor was so shabby and it had been replace three times, laminate flooring. We really trim to save some money and he said we were too picky.

This reads like an unbelievable story and had we not lived through it ourselves, we would be scratching our heads as how could this have happened. We met Sheldon with the person mentioned above. We will try to condense what happened for readability. Sheldon missed every single deadline he had to deliver cabinets. He would show up one day with one box and then leave, promising to be completed at such and such time, which never happened. We met him in January and had to pay 1/2 up front to "get on his books". There was an April 5th due date - by June he was fired. The few boxes he did deliver were terrible quality - you could see how dull the saws were because the edges were chipped, slab style doors were warped and the few drawers we got were glued together, our high end hardware we paid an up charge for, was the cheapest out there - nothing was "soft close", rather the 2 drawers that were delivered, could barely open the hardware was so bad; one cabinet wasn't attached to the wall properly and it caused all the tile to crack on top it and shortly came off, taking the drywall and a portion of the wall with it! He would promise to be done by a certain date and "make things right" and to bring his entire crew - there was no crew and it never happened. He would often times pull his high school age son from school and bring him along to carry things. If anyone has ever been through a complete home remodel you know the domino effect of what happens when one important contractor, like cabinets misses deadlines; it throws everyone off and other contractors who we had saved the date started charging us delay of schedule fee's. Jill Bayless, the Design/Build firm was useless in getting our money back or getting it resolved. Finally out of desperation, we found Sheldon's home address and were going to confront him to either give us our cabinets or our money back, as that day was his last day of grace we were giving him to make good on his promise and he obviously hadn't shown up and wasn't answering his phone. What we found was unbelievable - the entire property was filled with trash and piles and piles of junk, you couldn't even get to the steps of the house because it was littered with junk, the garage door was open and the entire thing was overflowing and there was a lone table saw on what was suppose to be grass. You couldn't even walk into the so called high end cabinet shop as it was cluttered with junk and plain filth. It was sickening. From the front of the house, we could see into the house which was equally as filthy, there sat Sheldon in a beat up recliner watching the Price is Right. The end of the story is, what little we did get from Sheldon was taken out. We learned he had lost his contractors license from the state and others had the same experience with him, a great song and dance up front, who seemed to be a likable person, then he was forced to make what he had promised and we had paid for, he couldn't deliver.
Description of Work: Jill Bayless of J, LLC and J Design Group, a Design/Build firm who was managing the complete remodel of our home used Sheldon Sloan - MountainSide Woodworking to produce custom cabinets for kitchen, bathrooms, pantry, audio/visual component closet. We paid Sheldon up front, in advance of at least $15,000 - he ended up costing us much more for delay of schedule changes, damage he did our home and more as you will read on.

Owner easy to work with. However project was to be done in 6-8 weeks, it took 6 months, quality of work average, showed up without proper tools, poor communication with sub contractors, attention to detail lacking. I still will need to finish painting, as there are a lot of mistakes, and I just wanted them out of house, if asked I am sure they would have done it. For what this cost the attention to detail, and the quality of the finish work leaves a lot to be desired.
Description of Work: Refaced and painted kitchen cabinets. Built entertainment center. Installed bamboo flooring in kitchen and dining area.
