+ -1 moreFabulous service! Jason did the estimate the day I called, and the estimating process took just under 20 minutes (other firms took an hour!). He had a quote on a new furnace & hot water heater in my hands that night, within my budget. He had a creative solution to our space issues (swapping a gas hot water heater for electric) that was environmentally and budget-friendly. Jason communicates via e-mail and cell phone, which I greatly appreciate (my husband and I both work full-time and e-mail is MUCH more convenient at work!). The installers were prompt and polite. They finished right on schedule and cleaned up after they left. Jason was very prompt in responding to small issues we had after the unit was up and running as well. A great experience, overall!
Description of Work: Removed the legacy furnace/hot water heater (Lennox Complete Heat) and replaced with a new Carrier furnace and an electric hot water heater. Recycled old unit and replaced condenser pump as well.

+ -1 moreThe igniter on our Lennox furnace would sometimes function properly, other times not, often running for 30 minutes or more while failing to put out any heat. The igniter LED would intermittently blink on and off over and over (something called a "retry") without turning on the heat, often going on like this for half an hour. We would have to manually turn the heater off at the thermostat, then turn it on again throughout the day. This is the problem we called Service Now about, and the malfunction we wanted repaired. Three service calls produced no resolution of this problem. We ended up calling another service provider, and the service provider correctly diagnosed the problem over the phone, arrived with the proper part (Intermittent Pilot Module), and the heater has run flawlessly now for 2 days. Service Now was on time and unfailingly courteous, but unable to make what was apparently an obvious repair in a major brand furnace. Nothing in any of the 3 visits addressed the issue.
Description of Work: Replaced some small plastic drain hose connector, and cleaned some debris out of one of the main vents. Nothing was done, however, to address the problem we contacted them to fix, that of intermittent igniter failure. After an initial service call ($135), and 2 follow-up service calls over the course of about a week, nothing had changed, the heater was still malfunctioning in the exact same way it had at the time we first contacted Service Now. The first technician said the heater seemed to be "working fine" but discovered a small crack in a plastic fitting to which one of the drain hoses (the smaller one) was attached, so he replaced that. Within minutes after he left, the heater again failed to ignite. Second visit resulted in some debris removal from one of the vents. Third visit told us that "everything checks out" and suggested that we needed to replace the thermostat, which we did. Heater still didn't work. After this, we were told we would be "better off" with a Lennox dealer.

The service person was friendly, fast and professional--I only wish I could remember his name! I am extremely happy with this company and will use them again for sure.
Description of Work: Fixed our heater! The condensate line on our high efficiency furnace was frozen and backed up all the way into the furnace. The service person (I can't remember his name but he was great) identified the mysterious problem and fixed it. He also recommended some preventive measures that we can do as homeowners to prevent the same thing from happening again.

+ -1 moreWe've had intermittent furnace problems since we moved into our home. Two previous technicians had been out to look at it several times over the last year and a half. The first didn't appear to do any real testing and blamed the problem on vague airflow problems with the (also new) ductwork. The second company's guy did some testing and decided it was a faulty limit switch. He replaced it but our problems persisted. The problems started up again, we called Service Now. They came out the same day. Their guy was a lot more knowledgeable and knew how to actually do thorough testing. He was the first one to test some motor assembly and found it to be faulty. The furnace has worked great ever since. They were fast, efficient and fixed the problem. I'll use them exclusively in the future. The only issue we had was that the technician incorrectly told us the part wouldn't be covered under warranty, but that was quickly resolved by the office.

+ -1 moreThe furnace continued to draw way to much power I finally decided there must be a duct problem. I called again and was told they could send someone today @ $85 per hour. Phil showed up and gave me a call that was truly uninformative about what the problem was but told me there would be a 4 hour minimum charge. I spoke to the main office and they decide they could do it for a 3 hour minimum. I am out of town so I asked my neighbor to check with Phil to find out exactly what the problem was. Phil was rude, surly, and uninformative except to say there was a dead cat under there and he would not remove it. He spent about an hour,Charged for 3 hours @95 per hour. I can't believe this is the same company I did business with 3 weeks ago. The manager, Kurt, called and was extremely apologetic and refunded two of the three hours of labor charges. He admitted and apologized for the mistakes that were made. He was out sick when all of this happened and made everything right.
Description of Work: Reconnected a flexible crossover duct under the house that had been knocked loose by some animal. Checked for other air leakage and found none. This is the second time I have used this company. First time was Frank who was prompt, courteous and informative. Found no problem with the furnace operation except a slight power drop. Charged $85 and I was given a 10% Angie's list discount.

+ -1 moreThe service rep returned my call first thing the morning after I'd called and the technician arrived on time, quickly diagnosing and replacing for free the furnace's pump unit which had gone out. He was quite efficient and talked me through all the steps he was going through. The repair experience was great (the furnace breaking experience not so much of course). The only thing I'm dinging them for here is their 24 hour service line didn't have a technician on duty when I called on Thursday night/early Friday.
Description of Work: My furnace stopped working in the middle of the night, and they came out to diagnose and fix it.

+ -1 moreJerry examined my furnace/heat pump to determine why it had stopped working. He tried a couple different things including going to get a new part. He was unable to fix it that day but left us a couple space heaters and promised another gentleman would come the next day and figure it out. The next morning another technician came out, figured out what was wrong and had it working within an hour. It was determined I did not need the new part they had purchased the day before so they took that back and did not charge me for it.
Description of Work: Diagnose and repair my furnace/heat pump that was not putting out any heat.

Frank was thorough and careful in checking voltages and gas and air pressures in an effort to determine what was causing the malfunction. In the end, it was determined that there were no single malfunctions, but the unpredictable nature of the machine was probably being caused by a number of dirty parts and a few other small things. So, I took the heater apart and cleaned everything and put it back together and, voil !. It works. They didn't try to sell me any parts, which I didn't need, which they could have done. We're happy.
Description of Work: Thorough check up and cleaning of all the functioning parters of the central heating core.

+ -1 moreOur old furnace died on New Year's Day. I called Service Now that day and reached their emergency answering service. My call was returned within ten minutes and I spoke to a knowledgeable repair person who walked me through the steps of determining exactly how old the old furnace was. It was VERY old and my husband and I concluded that we needed to replace it. Jeff came out the next morning, looked at our current heating/venting system, listened to my needs, explained various options and had a bid with several options emailed to me by the end of the day. He even returned my emails with questions that same night, though it was well after "office" hours. We selected an option and they had someone at our house the next day. The journeyman, Phil, was great -- very capable, friendly and responsive. He called me if issues came up that required my input.
Description of Work: Replaced gas furnace and installed central air conditioning. Also, they installed a ventilating fan in my bathroom for free as part of the project! This had been on my "to do" list for awhile, and ended up being an annoying part of the project for Service Now, because the box with the fan was missing a part and they had to come back another day with the electrician just to deal with this annoying problem. I got no complaints about this at all.

+ -1 moreBefore servicing both furnaces worked just fine. I had replaced the air filters myself so they were new as of two days before the servicing. But after servicing one units fan kept running but no heat was coming out. Also the cover on the thermostat was now hanging loosely about to fall off the thermostat. A 2nd visit from the serviceman (Jerry) still did not get the heat on (only the fan kept running) and he wanted to replace the thermostat for an additional $175. I declined because the old thermostat had worked fine before servicing. By the third visit Jerry was cantankerous, blamed the air filter and full of inadequate excuses but he did manage to get the heat back on. Things were happily concluded when the general manager sent a different service person over who gave adequate and logical explanations and acknowledged that the broken cover on the thermostat was the serviceman's fault and they replaced it at their own cost.
Description of Work: Annual servicing of gas furnace for both sides of a duplex. It cost 139 for each units furnace less a discount for finding them on Angie's List.

+ -1 moreGreat experience from start to finish. Jason came out the same day I called to validate a prior estimate. He was very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and explained my options clearly. Best of all, he was honest with me and did not try to automatically sell me the most expensive unit like some other "top rated" companies did. Everyone at Service Now was extremely professional, courteous, and responsive to my concerns throughout the process (Jason was even available by email on evenings and weekends). The work was done very well and on time and the installers thoroughly cleaned up the work area. I feel that I got a great product and great service at a great price. Even after the install, Service Now has answered all my questions and if a technician needed to be sent out to check on something, this was accomplished within a couple of days. I only wish Service Now did other types of construction and remodeling work so I could have them work on all my home improvement needs.

+ -1 more2 different people came for this job - one for the furnace/AC tune up and one for the bath fan work. Furnace tune up was completed quickly and professionally without issues. I was told when I booked the job that a separate person would come out to give me a bid for the bath fan issue and return at a later date to do the job. I requested that a quieter more efficient fan be installed and that the ventilation be evaluated to make sure it was venting to the outside and not into the attic space. The gentleman who showed up did the job today so I was charged for the time to evaluate the project, the time to go and get the part and then for the installation. The new fan was just as loud as the old fan so I balked at paying for a new, very loud fan. The solution was to put the old fan back in and charge me for the time up to the installation of the new fan (3 hours at $95). Service man was nice but $300 sure seems like a lot of money for the fan that was there to begin with...
Description of Work: Furnace tune up and pre-paid AC tune up (AC tune up to be performed in the spring at no extra cost), bath fan venting evaluation and replacement.

He came out and checked our furnace. He cleaned out the burners, replaced the filter, all very quickly. Then he strapped the water heater for earthquake safety.

+ 0 moreThey notified that us that they would be late and spent 2 hours on the repair, which was expected. They repaired a slow leak, which had been previously overlooked by the gas company once and then found because of its sound rather than the smell of a leak. They also reduced the range feed from a 3/4 inch pipe to 1/2 inch connection. After the repair, the gas company confirmed no leaks were present, turned on the line and lit the furnace pilot light.
Description of Work: They replaced two in-line gas valves. One was located on a feed line to the furnace and one was located on a feed line to a combination gas range/electric oven that also required reducing the size of the gas line from 3/4 inch to 1/2 inch.

The price was fair and at the time I received a 10% discount because I used Angie's List, which was nice. I will definitely call them in the future if I need more work done.

Worker walked through what he was going to do and did, and instructed homeowner on future maintenance and care. Discussed moving water heater gas line in future and provided estimate of cost.
