They called me back right away. The person who came out was very professional. He explained everything clearly. We felt we got a great deal on the unit. He worked with us on where to install the unit near the house.

I made an appointment for a heat pump installation estimate. The company failed to come at the scheduled day and time. A few days later I called and rescheduled. I made sure they had the proper address and phone number (they had). They mentioned that the prior appointment was penned in their book, and apparently overlooked. The company representative came to the rescheduled appointment. Looked around, and indicated an estimate would be emailed by Friday, with a little off the total cost to make up for the missed appointment. A week has gone by since the Friday identified as Estimate Arrival Day. No emails or calls. I enjoyed the interactions I had with the company. I wish they had been conscientious with commitments, or had called.

They were prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. They had the part needed on their truck so it was a quick fix with no extra charges.
Description of Work: We had a "no heat" issue with our furnace and needed someone to fix the problem. Called and had someone out the next day. They found a part had gone bad and needed to be replaced and the furnace needed to be serviced.

They were prompt in coming out and Jason was very helpful in advising us of the options, as we were considering whether to install a heat pump as well as improve/replace our current heating system. His estimate came in a timely manner, and when we finally decided to go with this company, the work was promptly scheduled. The installation went just as promised, except that they sent only one installer so it took longer. When we complained, they rectified the situation immediately with a solution that was satisfactory to us. The installer was very nice, competent and left the work area clean.

The first visit with the technician who diagnosed the problem went well. He arrived on time and was professional. The regular price is $85, but with their Angie's List discount it was $76.50, to be credited if we hired them to replace the air handler. A week later, the estimator came to gather information to prepare a quote to replace the air handler. He too was punctual and professional, but then I heard nothing from them for several weeks. I called the office and was told I'd receive a quote by the end of the day and I certainly did, but it was somewhat hastily composed. For example, they were nice enough to break down options for us, but an "option D" was mentioned, but no "option D" was listed. After I called, they sent us a revised quote and offered an additional discount. I imagine we just fell through the cracks and they were scrambling. I was pleased they tried to remedy the situation as quickly as possible. I'd probably use them again for service, but cannot give them an "A" overall based on this experience.
Description of Work: On their first visit, Service Now sent a technician to diagnose the problem with our broken air handler. On their second visit, they looked at our system to prepare us a quote to replace it. We did not end up hiring them to replace the unit.

We have an old 1952 oil furnace which really needs to be updated and/or replaced. Our plans to remodel the basement have been put off for a bit so we want this furnace to last for another year or two until we can save up and get a new one. In the meantime, we had Jerry with Service Now come out to do a tune-up, something we've probably done once before. Although it's expensive, I wanted to be relatively sure we can get more life out of this thing and that it would run well this Winter. He cleaned all kinds of things, replaced the nozzle and oil filter, and checked performance. Took about an hour and he cleaned up fairly well, bringing in a bucket and rags, although some oil marks were left on the floor in front of the furnace. We've had Jerry out before to do a repair when two other companies pushed hard for full replacement. Jerry seems quite knowledgeable about these old furnaces and answered lots of questions.

Jason, the owner, arrived at our house and gave us a no-nonsense quote. He was direct and to-the-point. He was punctual and only took about 15 minutes to prepare a quote. We chose to go with another company since the quote from Jason at Service Now was about $700 more than a competing company. We thought Jason was easy to deal with and would have selected his company to do the work if the price was better.

They were a highly efficient company. They removed our old furnace that had been in place for 20 years and put the new one with no problems. They took the old furnace to be recycled. They were very good about cleaning up the mess they left. They were very personable and i would recommend them. They had a difficult situation because the removed the old furnace from a laundry room and put the new one in the crawl space.

10/01/08-Frank showed up on time. He had to crawl under my house to perform this task. He did the tune up in a timely manner and was very courteous. Talked to me about the type of filters that I was using and replaced it with a better one. Told me my furnace was 17 years old but was still in good shape. I requested a quote for a new grill installation; this is so that I don't have to crawl under the house anymore to change the filter! He got me the quote before he left. I was very satisfied with his work. This company does offer an Angie's List coupon. I used it but the price was calculated incorrectly. When I spoke up, Frank recalculated, I had already written a check (yes I still use checks!). I told him to just keep it on the books and give me the $5.00 discount at a later date.

It had been several years since I'd had my Carrier heat pump serviced. They did a nice job of cleaning both it and my inside electric furnace. They washed out the small tubing that carries condensation back outside. Also fixed some plastic piping that had been installed incorrectly. I felt there was a great attention to detail that I hadn't seen from other companies. Although heat pumps generally have a short life (15 years), they said mine probably had another good 10 years in it which was good to hear. They also were kind enough to give me the Angie's List discount not only on the first service call, but also when they returned to replace the worn out part.

I chose to work with Service Now because their sales rep, Jeff, was matter-of-fact and not at all "salesman-like" during the bid process. Whereas other companies tried to win me over with slickness and charm, Jeff was very straightforward about what Service Now could and could not do and also provided me with a very reasonable quote. When he failed to get me the bid the following day as promised, he was very apologetic and took $200 off the estimated price, which I thought showed their commitment to customer service. Service Now scheduled their crew to come in to do the initial work almost immediately, even though I wasn't scheduled to have the gas line run to the house for another three weeks, and were willing to work when I wasn't at the house. Kurt and Steve were very quick, prompt, and did a fairly nice job on the install. The only criticism I have is that they did not properly seal the ductwork at first. There were visible gaps from the heating vents down through the registers and into the basement, as well as gaps around where the ducts fed into the furnace. The company inspector who came to give the system a final once-over was appalled at the work and suggested I call to complain, which I did. They sent another guy back to finish the sealing, and he did an okay job, though it looks a little sloppy. Nevertheless, I think Service Now has excellent customer service and a real desire to do good work for their customers, and I am pleased to have such a great furnace installed so quickly and at a great price. I just hope that their crews will start taking equally as much care with their work.

Great. They came out promptly and made the repair. Arranged with tenant for a good time to come. Recommended replacing the old furnace. They gave us an estimate and we ended up going with another company that we personally knew of and who offered a lower price. However, the repair that they made was done well and communication was handled professionally.

The sales person came out and discussed options and answered all of my questions. Later that day, he emailed me a quote of several options we had discussed. The following day, I called in to order the furnace I wanted and the installation was scheduled for a few days later. The installer arrived on time and was very professional, as was every person with whom I had contact in this company. I left, went to work and left a phone number, which ended up being wrong. The company tried to call me to tell me the furnace I ordered hadn't come in. They went ahead and installed a much better furnace for the same price, along with a new programmable thermostat. The furnace is working perfectly.
Description of Work: I originally called for a routine inspection of my furnace. The technician came, found a crack and hole inside, which he was able to show me with the flexible camera he used. The furnace had reached it's life expectancy and had been acting "funny" at the end of the Spring heating season, so I wasn't too surprised. He stopped the inspection at that point and turned the furnace off. He scheduled a person to come out to go over furnace options with me.

Service Now sent someone out promptly who cleaned the furnace. Then he proceeded to tell me my 10 year old furnace should probably be replaced with a new one (3-K) because if he fixed the part that needed repair then he pointed to several more things that he said would fail soon. I did not feel comfortable with his advice. Instead I had him finish cleaning it and leave. I waited until my usual furnace guy came back. He replaced the part he had mentioned and said the furnace I have is really good and should last another 10 years. I felt that at least that one technition from Service Now was just trying to sell me a new furnace when I did not need one.
Description of Work: Heating element in gas furnace was failing to start. My usual furnace man cleaned it and it would work for a couple weeks then stop again. After the second time my usual furnace man cleaned it - he said if it failed again there is part that is bad and he would have to order it. Total cost around $100. It did fail again and my usual furnace person was unavailable due to some family emergencies. Thats when I called Service Now.

Response from Service Now Inc. Heating & Cooling
THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS RESPONSE. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FURNACE (IT IS A LENNOX BRAND) AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED FOR US THAT THE FURNACE IS 17 YEARS OLD. OUR TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A TUNE UP ON THIS FURNACE AND NOTED THAT TWO OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE PARTS OF THE UNIT ARE WEARING OUT. THE AVERAGE LIFE SPAN OF A GAS FURNACE IS 15 TO 25 YEARS DEPENDING ON THE MODEL, AND HOW WELL IT HAS BEEN MAINTAINED OVER THE YEARS. WITH THE CURRENT CONCERN OVER HIGH HEATING COSTS AND EFFICIENCY, WE WILL TYPICALLY RECOMMEND THAT A CUSTOMER REPLACE AN OLD INEFFICIENT FURNACE VERSUS INCURRING HIGH REPAIR COSTS. WE HAVE CONTACTED THIS CUSTOMER TO BE SURE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ACTUAL AGE OF THE FURNACE, AND WHY WE WOULD RECOMMEND REPLACEMENT. WE REGRET THAT THIS CUSTOMER WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH OUR SERVICE, BUT WE BELIEVE THAT OUR RECOMMENDATIONS WERE JUSTIFIED DUE TO THE AGE AND CONDITION OF THIS UNIT.

The company was excellent to work with and I greatly appreciate their patience and skills. Originally I had six bids for the oil to gas conversion and eventually four of the contractors said they either would not do the work or that I needed to upgrade my ductwork before they would do the work. This is because the new high-efficiency gas furnaces can create a good deal of noise (air rushing sounds) in a system like mine with small, rigid, four-inch ductwork throughout. I told Service Now of this concern and they said they would guarantee, in writing, that the system would be satisfactory to me even if it meant replacing the ductwork. They were true to their word. They also did another outstanding thing. They initially installed a variable-speed, three-stage furnace (Carrier's newest) since the distributor was out of the furnace I was supposed to get. In other words, I got an upgrade to a newer, presumably better, furnace with no extra cost. However, the three-stage furnace was uncomfortably loud. Service Now twice tried every adjustment possible and could not reduce the noise. They contacted Carrier who said to install the two-stage model. Service Now then came out and replaced the new three-stage with a new two-stage, all at no extra cost to me. They still had to come out twice to replace sections of ductwork where there was too much noise. Through it all, the company was polite, patient, and generally responsive. There were a couple of times where I had to make an additional phone call to remind them of something, but overall this was not a problem. In professionalism I gave a B because some of the workers were less clean than I'd like. For example, I still have sawdust in the attic to clean up and I have a couple of holes in the walls that I need to fill that they left. However, their fabrication and installation work was terrific. I highly recommend this company and would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Service Now removed my old oil furnace and replaced it with a new, high-efficiency Carrier variable speed, two-stage gas furnace. They put in the gas line, vented the system through the side of the garage (where the furnace is), put in all new fabrication and insulation around the furnace, installed a pump and ran the condensation through a tube into the utility room, installed a MERV 11, high-quality air filtration system that I requested, and fabricated and installed a new cold air return on the second floor, where there was none before. They also came out several times to resolve noise problems resulting from a new, powerful furnace pushing air through my four-inch rigid ductwork system. Service Now, as part of the contract, went down into the crawlspace and replaced some of the ductwork with flexible duct. This reduced the noise to a satisfactory level. The original installation took two days and there were several other visits needed to resolve the noise and other minor problems. Besides installers, the service manager came out on one visit and one of their top technicians came out twice.

Jeff Johnston from Service Now came to estimate the work the day after my initial call. He emailed the bid a few days later and the work was scheduled shortly thereafter. Technicians Bill & Brian did a excellent job of removing the old oil furnace which was no easy task due to its size, the weight of the firebox and weight of the heat exchanger not to mention a difficult exit from the basement, through the kitchen and out a side door. The old furnace was hauled off and recycled on the day it was removed. The entire job took a full 2.5 days. Brian & Bill put down drop cloths to protect our kitchen floors and cleaned up thoroughly after each days work. They also did a fine job of building/installing additional duct work so the new furnace could be placed close to an east wall.
