We had this company out to do a service on the AC Paid the $103 Assured the system was fine after changing a air filter 6 days later the unit stops running and the tech comes back and diagnoses a faulty fan motor. Ok fine, this company orders the incorrect motor and calls me the next day to admit the error and wanted to reschedule for July 15th between 2 and 3 pm to install the corrected motor. The tech did not show. I called Kurt at 4 pm and he said oh I am sorry the motor didn't come in. I then told Kurt I would find a new contractor. He blew up on the phone and was irate I was switching because he ordered the motor and I was switching. If the company would have called and made the arrangements and not be rude to the customers I would not be here leaving a bad reply. UPDATE Went with another provider locally on angies list and they just finished the job Able Heating and Cooling in Tigard. The motor was in stock at the parts house locally and the job was completed way less then what Service Now quoted. From the time I called Able Heating and Air 72 hours later I have AC..... Not sure why SERVICE Now claims no motors in town what a bunch of BS.....

Response from Service Now Inc. Heating & Cooling
This member contacted us early on during the first week of the hottest weather of the season saying that his AC system was inoperable. He stated that he had left his thermostat set at 64 degrees and we determined that more than likely the evaporator coil had frozen over causing a lack of airflow and cooling. We sent our technician Frank to his home on July 3rd and found a plugged (dirty) air filter that in conjunction with the thermostat being set too low had caused the coil to freeze over. Frank installed a new pleated air filter and charged this member our standard $85 diagnosis charge and a charge of $15.00 for a high quality air filter, the system was cooling at that time. The technician measured the amperage draw from the fan motor and found it was within an acceptable range. The member called back six days later stating that he had no cooling and described an electrical smell coming from the system. After 18 years in this business, I knew right away that the fan motor most likely had failed due to it pushing air against a dirty filter and iced over coil. I explained that we would need to send the Technician back out (at no charge to the member since we guarantee our diagnosis for 30 days) to check the motor and get the proper information to order a factory replacement motor. The technician confirmed that the motor was bad and removed the motor so it could be changed quickly when he returns with a new one. We immediately contacted the local manufacture’s distributor whom said they would look into it and call us back. At that time during the heat wave, all distributors were very backed up and there was quite a wait to get someone on the phone. I then personally drove to the distributor and ordered the motor in person. That person determined what motor needed to be ordered, placed an order to an out of state branch and said they would call me in a few days when it arrived. We explained this to this member that they were the only local distributor for the product and we would have to wait a few days. When the motor arrived, the technician immediately went to the distributor, opened the box, and found they had ordered the wrong motor for us. They said the correct motor would have to come from the manufacturer direct. I then called every distributor I could find on the West Coast and was able to find a distributor in California that was willing to sell us the last motor they had on the shelf. I called this member and let him know we had found another motor and were having it shipped as quickly as possible, best case we could have it on Monday and worst case Tuesday. On Monday he was very disappointed to learn that the motor had not arrived and said he wanted to use another contractor. I told him that we are the only company who will have this part for the next several days and we had already paid for it. He declined to wait until the next day for the repair and requested that we return his service call charge of $103. We returned his check for $103 to him at his home the next morning (Tuesday). The fan motor we purchased from the supplier in CA arrived Tuesday at noon. I personally drove to the local distributor in Tigard right after it was delivered and convinced them to take the motor and give us an in house credit. Their Manager, (who offered to call this member himself to apologize for their original ordering mistake) agreed to put the motor on the shelf with my assurance that another contractor would be calling to purchase it and we verified that Able Heating did purchase that motor. We surely understand the frustration this member was experiencing with a very hot house, and a difficult part to acquire in a timely fashion. We feel we tried to provide the best customer service we could given the circumstances. Kurt

From the estimate to the installation to the city inspection everything went flawlessly. First Jason the owner came by to give the estimate and to discuss options as to size and efficiency of the new furnace. He did not try to over sell me, but truly allowed me to make my own choice. A couple of days after I received bids and information from other companies I decided to hire Service Now Inc. We arranged a date and two very nice workman came out, Bill and Kelly I think, and took the old furnace out and installed the new furnace. They did everything they promised including installing a new digital Honeywell programmable thermostat and giving me extra furnace filters to get me started.

I have used Service Now 4 or 5 times over the last several years to keep my 20 year old system heating and cooling. The Tech I have most frequently dealt with is Frank , he presents as extremely knowledgeable and skilled with HVAC. He also represents this company as being honest and genuinely concerned with doing a good job. During the seasons first heat spell my cooling system failed causing my house to get unbearably hot, they were able to get the job done quickly and efficiently at a fair price. On this job I initially spoke with Curt, who scheduled my job very quickly with short notice. Alex and Frank worked on the system. All were very responsive, very professional and courteous. I will most definetly use their services again.

I paid for them to come over. My furnace worked fine when they came in. they were supposed to do the inspection. I think if I take care of something I will get more life out of it. I did not use the furnace for a while afterwards. The first time I needed the furnace and turned it on, it would not work. It would try to turn on, cycle for a bit and then turn off. It had only been maybe a month. I called them back and they gave me a whole pitch of what could have gone wrong, like it had broken between the time that they had been here and I turned it on. I said no, my furnace worked perfectly fine. They sent out a technician that said something was broken on it and it was going to be this big huge charge. I said no, my furnace worked before you guys put your hands on it and now it does not work. He said he was going to go out and call the owner and he left and never came back. I called the company and talked to the owner and he said that I had an old furnace and they break and told me that I needed to get a new furnace. I told him it was working when they showed up and that whatever you guys did; you broke my furnace. They sent out the tech that had done the original inspection, I had the receipt that said that everything was in working order. As soon as I told him that my friend was on his way from Salem, the tech showed me a piece of hose that had been cut. They are not only dishonest and frustrating. They did not sabatoge my air conditioner. They had every intension of getting a new furnace out of me. My furnace, after he had replaced the tiny hose that he had cut, worked fine. I got another two years out of my old furnace. They are awful and really bad. I got this company off of Angie’s List. I would not use them again.

Response from Service Now Inc. Heating & Cooling
This member purchased the Angie’s List Big Deal (84.50 for a 16 point fall furnace tune up) on September 29th 2011, she decided to add the AC tune up at the same time for an additional $84.50. We were able to schedule the service the same day and our technician completed the work in the afternoon. He performed a complete service of the furnace and AC and noted “both were running fine at this time”. The member contacted us on October 7th 2011 and said that the furnace was inoperable, we sent out a different technician at no charge to look it over (we guarantee our work for 30 days). He found that the furnace was “failing on flame sensor that it does not have, need to install flame sensor”. Our original technician returned to the home on October 10th 2011 with the flame sensor kit which someone in the past had removed, and at that time he saw a vacuum hose that was cracked and replaced it as well. We regret the inconvenience this member incurred, but feel we did our best to repair her furnace in a timely fashion and we do not feel we were in any way dishonest. We feel that we did our best to schedule the service calls as quickly as possible and we do not feel that we were dishonest in any way. I have attached copies of the invoices for your review, we would like to have an opportunity to apologize for the inconvenience and we are hopeful that you will reconsider the review you posted.

I had a great experience. Frank was a great service rep who came out on both occassions and performed all services on my systems. He even installed a switch on my furnace to make sure that any extension chords didn't cause any problems. He was very thorough and gave me lots of great information to maintain my systems. He also gave me a lot of information about what he was actually doing to make my systems run properly and more efficiently. I would definitely use Service Now Inc in the future and will recommend them to others who may be having issues with their systems.

We attempted to contact this member to see what we can do better in the future to earn a higher grade. As a returning customer (we did a tune up for him a year prior) we are concerned that we did not provide a higher level of satisfaction. Unfortunately we have not heard back from him.

The owner came to my home on May 31st for an estimate to replace our 21 year gas furnace. That visit was superb: professional, informative, friendly, everything one might hope. I'm still considering other bids, but it's clear to me they care about their customers: they were immediately responsive to my questions and moved quickly to remedy a technology hiccup that prevented the initial delivery of their estimate. Will update again about pricing and quality of work if I move forward with them. They have demonstrated excellent customer relations so far. I expect the grade to likely rise, too, as an earlier posting was based on a technology miscommunication.

I called because our usual service provider said they couldn't get the motor part until Monday. It would have been a LONG, HOT weekend, so I called Service Now for help. Kurt (Kirk?) took the make, model and serial numbers and called back within 15 minutes to give me a quote. Meanwhile, my usual A/C provider had shown up to do the work! But I told Kurt: if we ever need help FAST, I know who to call!

It was really really cold out, but they delivered several portable furnaces to my house immediately to keep me warm until they could install a new furnace. They started work to tear down the old furnace and build a new platform for the new furnace. They worked every day until the new furnace was installed. And they even refunded the price of the initial Special for inspecting the furnace. I was very happy with the service provided, especially the space heaters. They even brought me a few more after delivering the first three because it was so cold. I was also happy that they worked on getting the new furnace installed as soon as possible. Robin Banks

We called Service Now because we needed a dryer vent pipe trimmed to fit a new, bigger dryer in the same space as the old. The Sears appliance installers wouldn't do it for us, and we did not want to take any chances trying to do it ourselves. We have used Service Now in the past for HVAC inspections/tune-ups, and they have always been great. The technician arrived within the agreed upon range and quickly accomplished the primary task of trimming the pipe. Since he had some extra time, he decided to take a look at the brand new furnace that had been installed a couple weeks before. He noticed that one of the emergency safeguards (forgive me, but I can't remember which one) was turned off for no good reason. He made sure the mechanism was set up properly and turned it on. We would have never noticed this if he hadn't decided to take a quick peak at the furnace. This is the kind of care that will keep us loyal to Service Now for our future HVAC needs.
