I was so impressed with their attention to detail, professionalism, and expertise in their trade. As a novice, they could have cut corners and I would have never known the difference, however, they went the extra mile to do things right. I am very pleased with their work and will be sending business their way and using them again in the future. Shop around so you have something to compare them to. You will not find a more thorough and professional landscape company. Nice work ProScape! It was a pleasure doing business with you!
Description of Work: I have been working with ProScape NW all summer on a back yard renovation. Mike and his team are top notch! Mike personally coached me through the things that I could do myself and saved me a lot of money. They did the final grading, prepped my soil for turf and upgraded my irrigation system. I did what I could do and then hired ProScape NW to do their magic.

We found Proscape NW when we lived in Orchard Lake and the homeowners association used them for the landscaping and maintenance for the very large common areas. We have used Proscape NW for the past 10 years for routine yard maintenance. They have followed us through 3 homes now and are the only service I would ever use. Our current home is on 4 acres and we have a routine scheduled appointment - varying on the growth schedule in Oregon - to mow and manage the flower beds. They also include the routine pre-emergent spraying for weeds and I can say that I am the only one in the neighborhood with NO weeds ever. The crew shows up and immediately get to work and within an hour our curb appeal goes up 100%. Mike Swann is great to work with, all of the staff are wonderfully responsive. Mike even calls occasionally to suggest something to improve our yard, always at a very reasonable price or something we could do ourselves. They even set mole traps and take away the successful victims. It has been my experience that Proscape is very willing to work with you on price and schedule. You discus your needs and budget, and they will come up with a plan with several proposals. I just can't say enough about this company. If you are like me and consider it "yard work" instead of "gardening", calling proscape will make your yard look like you were born with a green thumb!

The work went OK. Several of the tasks were sub-let to other contractors — this was reasonable because removing the original mix of builder's rubble, clay and weeds and bringing in soil meant getting some big digging machinery into my back garden, and most landscapers don't have such machinery themselves. Another example was the final addition of bark mulch, which was sub-ed to a company with a mulch blower. The problems came because there was little supervision of the subs, so the man with the big digger broke a lot a pavers at the front of the house (which were not scheduled to be replaced) when he drove the digger over them, and the man with the mulch blower buried the bottom of my wooden fence. My original expectation, which was that Burrell would carefully attend to all of the details, turned out to be wrong. If I noticed and pointed out a shortcoming, Burrell would eventually fix, it, somewhat reluctantly. For example, the initial Scope of Work required him to "Till and amend soil in future side yard planting areas" (plantings in the side yards were not included in the project). When we later went to add plants in these areas, we found that the soil had not been amended or tilled, but just covered with mulch. Burrell did correct this, but only after we insisted. At the end of the first winter, quite a number of the plants had died. This may just be because it was a very hard winter, and because the plants were not installed until October and so did not have much time to get established before the bad weather. In June Burrell and a small crew came back to replace the dead plants — a one year guarantee was part of the original contract. Some of the replacements were dead within four days; I'm still waiting for them to be replaced a second time. Overall, the garden looks good. Some of the plants are thriving, and I'm enjoying using it this summer. The patio, in particular, looks very good, and I have recommended Burrell to friends who have admired it. However, every time I go out to do some work, I'm annoyed by something that wasn't done quite right. Little things, mostly, which I can often fix myself, but which I don't feel I should have to fix, given the money that I spent on this project. Examples are correcting the grading around a pre-exitsting tree so that it isn't buried too deep, gluing down loose capstones, and un-burrying the fence. I'm also concerned about the long-term durability of some of the hardscaping; one of the flagstones on the patio has cracked, and one side of the path at the East side of the house is now several inches lower than the other side; both of these point to insufficient excavation and compacting of the new sub-grade material. I'm amending this review because after he read it, Burrell 'phoned me to complain that I hadn't been fair to him, because I had mentioned shortcomings but not the good parts. He had a good point there, and I've added more positive comments. He was also upset because I mentioned problems that he fixed after I pointed them out. I think that whether or not I've been fair on t his point depends on whose responsibility you think it is to supervise the work of the subcontractors and ensure quality: the homeowner or the contractor. We clearly have a difference of opinion on this which I don't think will be resolved. Update (Sept 2012) after two years: there were serious subsidence problems with a path at one side of the house. One side of the path had sunk about 4 inches relative to the other side, and the surface (compacted 1/4" minus gravel) was loose. Burrell agreed to add more gravel and re-compact the path, even though he said that the work was out of warranty. I also asked him to re-set a fence panel that had shifted; I paid him for this, since the panel had originally been set by another contractor. ProScape came and performed this work while I was out of town, and it seems to have been taken care of in a professional manner.
Description of Work: I hired Pro Scape to install a complete garden, including bringing in soil, grading, building a patio, adding paths, installing an irrigation system and putting in the plants. I started with my own design, created by a landscape architect, and asked Pro Scape (and a number of other companies) to bid on the whole project. The garden is small --- a 45 x 105 lot that also contains a house, driveway and front walk. Pro Scape's bid was not the cheapest, but Burrell Palmer asked the most questions, which I figured meant that he was the most interested in attending to all of the details correctly.

Our business was founded, and continues to grow based on our customer service. Our goal is to satisfy the client and have them be our best advertising. This is not possible 100% of the time for reasons as diverse as the individuals we serve, but when issues arise we address and correct them as fairly, swiftly and thoroughly as possible. My wife and I bought our house five years ago and every year we've struggled to keep up with the maintenance it requires. We have 35 trees on our 1/3 acre and half of them are still under 15 feet tall. The other half range from 20-35 feet. Along with the trees, we have several rhododendrons, shrubs and an arborvitae hedge. In the summers, we have noticed Pro Scape NW trucks performing weekly lawn maintenance in our neighborhood, so we were familar with their name. In January one our neighbors hired them to prune their trees. The transformation that took place was amazing - and it took place all in one day! We wrote down the phone number and called for an estimate the following week. Burrell Palmer called and gave us a time and materials quote over the phone. They were really flexible with our schedule and budget. We decided to hire three guys and to have them spend between 8-10 hours (as they saw fit) and have them focus on a few priority areas first before moving on to the others. These guys were a well-oiled machine! I couldn't believe how much work they got done! Needless to say, they are hard workers and knew what they were doing. When we had originally stated that we'd hire three guys for 8-10 hours, I thought for sure that they would get the higher priority areas done and leave the smaller stuff for us at the end of the day. Was I mistaken! They got to all of it and hauled away all the debris ... and it looks great! My wife and I couldn't be happier and we are already getting positive comments from our neighbors. We have already decided to have Pro Scape NW come back every year to maintain our trees. We got our money's worth and would recommend Pro Scape NW to anyone that asks. My only wish is that I (and my aching back) would have found them sooner.

See above - I would use this company again for any landscape service.
Description of Work: Follow up on grub problems that were addressed last visit. The issue was taken care of in a most professional manor. We've had varying degrees of problems since the house was built in 2003. Out of many landscape companies that have worked on our property, ProScape Northwest was the first to diagnose and address our grub issues with positive results.
We own several properties in several locations in Oregon and have used Proscape for all of our landscape and irrigation projects over many years. We have been extremely pleased with their work, punctuality, flexibility, knowledge, and overall positive attitudes. They are always quick to respond to any needs and are more than accomodating to any special requests or emergencies. The owner's, as well as the employees, are respectful and extremely hard working and conscientious. Not only do we hire them to install our landscaping and irrigation initially, but we retain them on a monthly basis for our landscape maintenance needs as we believe their prices are very competitive and reasonable.
Description of Work: Monthly landscape maintenance and irrigation system mtnce. on no less than 3 properties - 2 manufactued home parks with a total of 49 units + common areas and one 12 unit apartment building. Also, landscape installations at several properties over the past 15+ years.
I requested a quote, they came out promptly to review the lawn and discuss options. We received a written quote the following afternoon. I called back to go over numbers and Proscape NW took the time to explain everything in detail answering all my questions. We agreed on a price and work started the following week. The house was built in 2002 and prior to this, my yard was unusable six months out of the year because of very poor drainage. You would actually sink 4 inches or more if you stood in one place for too long during the rainy season. With the application of soil conditioner recommended by Proscape NW, my yard is usable all year long. Also, their installation of bark was meticulous. They were very thorough and cleaned up better than any contractor we've ever had work on our house. It's refreshing to do business with a company that does what they say they're going to do, on time and for the agreed upon price. I'd have no hesitation recommending Proscape NW to anyone.
Description of Work: 1) Placed two tons of Pro Choice soil conditioner. 2) Top dressed and overseeded. 2) Turf Renovation: Moss treatment, Lime Application, Fertilizer, Aeration & Edging. 3) Raised all sprinkler heads in in plant beds to the correct level. 4) Installed bark in all plant beds.
