I am actually grateful that they found the problems. If we had not decided to replace that mess under the house, we would not have known that our expensive heat was blowing into the air, and that sewage was actually draining under the house! Bad news, and extra money, but would have been worse not to know. Once the pipe was repaired and the duct work replaced, they returned to finish the insulation and did a great job. Very clean, laid plastic over the carpet and cleaned up nicely. I can see why this company has such a good reputation.
Description of Work: The insulation under our house was mostly hanging in pieces. I found KNEZ from Angie's List and they came out and gave an estimate and also information on how we could get part of the cost back from the energy trust. We scheduled the work to be done, including removing all the old insulation, and sealing up all entries, placing new insulation and Viskeen on the ground. The guys who came out to do the work removed all the old insulation, but unfortunately discovered a couple of surprises; the main drain pipe was leaking and also our heating duct work had holes and was hanging loose. I had to hustle around and try to find people to fix these problems before work could continue, so it turned out to take several weeks longer to get done.

Knez did a great job. Phil provided a very accurate estimate over the phone and had a crew to my house the next day. This was a difficult job because the duct work blocked many areas. They had it completed in one day and the final cost was slightly less than the estimate.

I relied on my contractor to meet with the 2 companies I chose from Angie's list to bid on this job. My contractor chose Knez because he felt the salesman showed greater understanding of our project and when the bid came in, the price was a little lower than the other company. My contractor arranged for the insulation to be done in 2 parts, one time was for the new construction and then he wanted them to return at a later date for the blown-in insulation. Both crews showed up at the same time and showed up a couple of hours earlier than had been arranged. As a result, my contractor was very unhappy because he makes a point to do a great job and not inconvenience the homeowner. He was not here when the crew arrived and quickly came over to supervise. The crews completed both tasks in a very brief time, perhaps under 30 minutes, which was remarkable. The salesman called and offered his apologies for the error of the timing. I was pleased with the job.
Description of Work: I am having a new bathroom constructed and my contractor used this company for insulation, and in addition, I had them add insulation to my attic.

Incredibly professional and efficient. Installers, Mario and Lupe to great care to cover floors and furniture. They answered all my questions and sought approval before wrapping up job. Our house was built in '79, had maybe 3" of blown-in. We expect to recoup investment in 2-3 years, especially after Oregon's Energy Trust rebate.
Description of Work: Attic insulation. Blown-in to R-38; approx. 12-15". Wrapped exposed duct work. Installed batt casing for attic entrance.

The sales rep, Jeremy, was at my home within the hour of when I first contacted him. (The company is in the same area as my home). He was able to set up an appointment the next day. The insulators were respectful and very careful not to break or disturb anything as they worked. They were in and out quickly. I will get $345 back from Energy Trust of Oregon, so the total I spend will be $550.

Started Wed. 8/27/08, completed Fri. 8/29/08. This company would have gotten straight A's, if the employee who made the bid had informed the workers (as I had requested) of the extreme difficulty of half the underfloor job and the many obstacles in the way of doing the garage ceiling. There was barely room to move, let alone install the insulation, even thou we had the furnace duct work removed. The men were visibly upset and left early after only a few hours of work. We removed another section under the house at the request of one of the workers and the next day they were able to complete the underfloor job because of easier access. The garage ceiling had many obstacles because of rescue animals, cages etc. My husband and I stayed with them and handed the insulation to them or they would had to spent the nite!! The 2 men are to be commended for the excellent work they did under lousy conditions. Part of the house was built in 1951.
Description of Work: R-19 un-faced batts w/twine support in underfloor. Lay new 6 mil black visqueen ground cover. R-11 w/twine support to wrap water pipes. 1920 sq. ft. R-19 un-faced batt w/FS Paper in garage ceiling.

I was pleased with this transaction. The bid for this job was completed over the phone and I think that was possible because I could accurately describe my attic space and tell the company my square footage and the other details of the space. In most instances, I think the company has to send out someone to inspect the space and make a bid. The workers showed up as scheduled and completed this task within about an hour. They were very careful to respect my property including placing plastic sheeting on my floors where ever they would be walking. They also used plastic sheeting to create a tunnel into my attic space thus keeping all dust and insulation particles out of my living space. When they left, I searched to see if I could find any mess and I think I found one small particle of insulation. They also provided me with a certificate which I then provided to the Energy Trust of Oregon which helps fund these sorts of things.
Description of Work: Blew in insulation into my attic space thus raising my insulation factor to R38.

Installers were a little late due to completing work on a previous job. They laid plastic on the floors and carpet, brought the hose to blow the insulation through the bedroom window, laying plastic on the bed to protect it. They installed batts around the attic entrance and the furnace and wrapped the solar tubes in batts. Insulation was blown in the remainder of the attic. Clean-up was prompt and seemed thorough. The job took about 1 hour to complete.
Description of Work: Added insulation to attic to bring it up to R38 rating, insulated 3 solar tubes. Used a combination of batts and blown insulation.

I got a large rebate because of an Energy Saving credit. I also got a rebate on my taxes for this, plus my gas bill has gone down! The workers showed up on time when they said they would. They were friendly and professional. I would use them again and would recommend them. The approximate cost listed was before any credits or tax rebates.
Description of Work: They came out in August of 2007 and installed insulation in the attic. They put that us up to standard. They then installed insulation under the house that had not previously been done.

The original estimate was based on incorrect square footage, but the estimator then came out and measured the house, resulting in a lower bid. The workmen arrived on time, did their (horrible) work efficiently, and cleaned up after themselves. Two weeks later (today) the same men have returned to put in the new insulation. Everything is going as I hoped. In addition I have been told that I will receive completed forms to apply for the Oregon Heat rebates for upgrading insulation.

I received 3 bids, one from a company who does not wrap solar light tubes. All three companies were listed with Angie s List and the Energy Trust of Oregon. I selected Knez Insulation because Jeremy Thorpe, was willing to adjust his original estimate to meet our needs and still meet the requirements of the Energy Trust. Their charge was $750, with an anticipated energy rebate of $325, making our total cost $425.00. On June 3rd, Mario and Lupe arrived at 7:30 and were done by 9:00. They were extremely polite and answered all of my questions. They laid plastic sheeting through the door and around the hallway leading to the attic, then went to work putting in the soffit baffles and wrapping the tubing of our solar light tube with R11 bats. The blow in was quieter than I thought it would be. When they were done they asked if I would like to view the completed work. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how deep our new R38 insulation is. About a week and a half later, Knez sent me the paperwork I needed to apply for our Energy Trust rebate. Ten days later I received a postcard from the Energy Trust notifying me that we had been randomly selected for an audit of the work that had been performed, to make sure it met the standards they had set. On July 3, the Energy Trust inspected and approved the insulation installation, and my rebate check was issued a week later. Although the audit delayed getting our rebate by several weeks, we were happy to have an independent expert tell us that we received high quality insulation from Knez.

Everything went well with this project. Jeremy, the estimator was very nice and I felt like I got a good price. He figured out how much I would get back from the energy company also. Shortly after we agreed to have the work done it was scheduled for a time soon after. A couple of guys came out and did the work in one day. The one negative I had was that he made it seem like I would get money back from the energy company for the $400 I spent to have our air ducts re-wrapped also, but the energy company said that it has to be foam sealed. Knez does not do that, so to get any money back for that I would have to call out an HVAC company. Overall, though, I was very happy with the work performed. They sent out paperwork to make it very easy to submit to the energy company for my credit.
Description of Work: We had underfloor insulation installed, going from R-00 to R-30 on our 1660 square foot house. This included installing the insulation, wrapping with twine support, laying out new black visqueen ground cover, wrapping all exposed water pipes with twine and foam sealing. We also added the option of having our air ducts re-wrapped.

I was very, very pleased. Jeremy, the estimator called quickly and was there the day after my call. He was clear on his recommendations, which were half the price of another company I called. The workers arrived promptly at the time scheduled, were very quick, left the place clean, and when I called the company to have a minor problem fixed with the attic access door, they were very friendly and made the correction the following day. Jeremy also did all the paperwork to get me the Energytrust discount - the other firm never even mentioned this.

Person who came was initially not interested in the job given the small space. He then said he would at least give me a bid and fax it the next day. No bid received as of 2 months later. He was pleasant and I suspect wasn't interested in the job. I would have appreciated him at least being upfront and not promising to get a bid out.

I had the work done at different times and they very on time both times very courteous, clean, came to work, put down plastic and moved my 8 big plastic boxes of collectibles out from under the house before starting with-out complaining or adding to the cost. They were under the house for a total 6.5 hours and did a stellar job! Lisa Hawes scheduled the job and confirmed the night before like a pro. Jeremy organized the bid and is very knowledgeable, and professional as well. I recommend 100%. Oregon Energy Trust will help me defer the cost and Knez gets the paperwork to you quickly.

Estimate was on time and took 15 minutes. The 2 crews showed up on time to blow in the insulation in the attic (which took less than 1 hr) and then a 2nd crew to go down in the crawlspace to install the insulation with the twine support (which took a bit longer). They brought in plastic sheeting to cover the carpeting to keep things clean. They also handled all of the appropriate paperwork to submit a tax incentive credit with the energy company.

After an Energy Trust audit, I checked the list of suggested companies I received and checked Angie's List for ratings. I contacted Knez Insulation to do the suggested insulation work at my home. Jeremy gave me an estimate and the work was scheduled for a week later. I was able to request being the first job of the day so that I would be able to leave for work on time. The workers were friendly and efficient. I was invited to look at the finished work and when they left, there was no mess to clean up.

Great. I had called Gale, who didn't even call me back and one other company that said they were too busy to do the work. Tom was able to come immediately to give me an estimate, and schedule the work for the next week. The guys that did the work were efficient and clean. There was one internal wall that they didn't insulate, but when I did the final walk-thru to inspect the work I asked if he could add insulation to that space and he did it without question. Very happy with the work. Tom followed up to make sure I was satisfied.
