We found Gabe on Angie's List (when her recommendations were good). Our experience with Gabe, however, was anything but good. At first, he was very responsive and eager to meet our needs...even drawing-up two plans for us to initially view. However, when my husband and I looked at the plans, we realized very quickly that Gabe had not listened to our desires at all. While he said he spent a lot of time thinking and planning, it was clear he didn't (and by the way, WE took all the measurements for him!). I think what was so disturbing was his attitude towards me when I said that neither one of the plans would work; he threw his hands in the air and practically had a fit right there. Also, I was bit disgusted that he tried to overcharge us after that. Thankfully, we only paid the deposit. In short, I would never recommend him to anyone...ever. He is unprofessional and just a plain jerk.

We had the original house plans for him to start from so the job should have been easy to complete. Gabe met with us promptly and turned around the job pretty quickly. However, I had to keep reminding him of certain requirements as he kept forgetting. Also he presented a bill that was not in line with the original agreement. I argued the point and even presented him an email where he confirmed the original price. He disagreed and said he wouldn't have agreed to that price and must have not read the mail correctly. Ultimately I placed a stop payment on the check as it didn't sit right with me and told him I would only pay the agreed price. He also gave us a CD that was supposed to have plans on it but it was blank. Lastly, the final plans he drew up didn't include the necessary foundation framing and the scale was off to the point that our framer couldn't use the plans at all. So, overall we're not impressed and wouldn't recommend Gabe to anyone who wants accurate plans.

Gabe did a great job, and his price was almost 1/2 the competitors. He encouraged us to put in whatever we could for ideas and then worked off of that. He added his own ideas to the designs that were very useful and unique. He reworked and added some stuff that we later wanted changed. He was very accommodating, and his work was excellent. He gave us a disc, so we could make as many blueprints as we needed, and he also gave us multiple copies to work with. He also had an engineer to come out and look at the foundation and do the calculations for final permits. He did all this in less than 6 weeks, which was about 2/3 to 1/2 the time of everyone else. I would highly recommend him. One thing that was brought up was that he is not a licensed contractor. After researching it, the only reason to be licensed is to be able to do homes over 4000 sq ft or commercial building, which he isn't doing, so it's not an issue.

Gabe is a wonderful professional and is a pleasure to work with. He is punctual from the start and gets things done when he says he's going to. His rates are the most reasonable ones that we found for design and engineer work.

Gabe Hulin was very nice to work with in that he took fully into account our thoughts and ideas as well as suggesting some good additions. Gabe is very experienced and has many impressive projects that he has completed in the past (and ours was quite small in comparison). The communication with him was good and was mostly done by e-mail and phone. The project was completed on time and at a very reasonable cost.

GABE WAS EXCELLENT TO WORK WITH - CAPTURED OUR VISION AND INCLUDED HELPFUL SUGGESTIONS DURING THE INFO GATHERING PROCESS AND DELIVERED A FULL SET OF HOME DESIGNS ON SCHEDULE, 5-SETS ALONG WITH A CD OF ALL WORK. COST WAS $2/SQ FOOT. GABE HAS A PLEASANT PERSONALITY, IS CUSTOMER FOCUSED AND STRIVES TO DELIVER A QUALITY PRODUCT.
