I had dry rot underneath some siding at my house that needed repair. I first located a siding contractor who advertised that he did siding repair. When he came out to assess the damage, he told me that my job "was too small for him" and that he would "not assist me unless I gave him at least $10K's worth of work." Even after I had cobbled together a list of repairs for the siding contractor, he was very picky about what he would/would not do. I was very discouraged until I found Carlos. I recalled an earlier conversation with a neighbor who told me how happy he was with how Carlos and his crew had painted the neighbor's house. The neighbor specifically told me that he was especially pleased because Carlos and his crew had repaired some of the dry rot underneath his siding before they painted the neighbor's house. The neighbor also told me, "Carlos is not the cheapest but he does quality work and is in high demand (a good sign) so you might have to wait awhile before you can get on his calendar." In the interim, I researched Carlos's background online which included checking the Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB). I have worked with many contractors in the past and have found that most of them have either had their license suspended at some point for non-payment of insurance and/or customers had filed complaints (justified or unjustified) against them. Not Carlos and his business, Distinctive Enterprises & Painting, LLC. He is an exception in that his CCB record is pristine. A quick online search will reveal that he has overwhelmingly 5-star reviews from satisfied customers. He clearly cares about his customers and his reputation. I reached out to Carlos to see if he could help me. Carlos responded to me within a short time. Carlos said he believed that he could help me and arranged to come out the next day (on a Saturday, no less!) to assess the damage and prepare an estimate. Carlos was punctual. My first impression of him was that he was clean-cut, upbeat, professional, personable, warm, respectful, courteous, and very likable. I observed how he carefully assessed the dry rot at my house. Unlike my interaction with the first siding contractor, Carlos actually cared about my project and had a positive, "can-do" attitude. As my neighbor correctly predicted, Carlos said that he was booked for the next few weeks but that he would make sure that he would get the repairs done for me before the rainy season began. Carlos did exactly as he had promised. He was/is also very responsive by text to any questions or concerns I had, even after normal business hours. Carlos presented a fair estimate for the repairs. Although Carlos did not personally perform the repairs himself, he oversaw a colleague who did. His colleague worked diligently and efficiently, did a beautiful job, and even cleaned up after himself after he had completed the half-day repairs. Carlos is the epitome of a successful immigrant story. He came to this country, worked hard, learned his trade, rose through the ranks, and eventually opened up his own successful business which has been around for many years. I am pleased to support such a hard-working, industrious individual. I have other painting projects planned and will be sure to contact Carlos again when that time comes. I am grateful to have him as a trusted resource. Carlos does high-quality work and delivers great value to his customers. I have already recommended his services to other neighbors. Carlos is much more than just a business owner and painter; he solved my problem and gave me peace of mind. Highly recommend!
