I specialize in high end finish carpentry which includes and not limited to, building and installing cabinets, such as kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities.
Install wainscoting, baseboards, door trim, and other final touches.
Building and installing stair railings.
Building and or installing premade interior/exterior doors/windows including pocket doors, and checking that the doors/windows are aligned correctly and open and close the way they should.
Building shelves, other storage solutions, and furniture.
I am just as skilled in regular (rough) carpentry including structural framing (residential), and the building of, fences, gazebos and pergolas.
Naturally, regular and high end carpentry are alike to a certain point. But high end carpentry work goes well past the basic in its execution and precision. It surpasses expectations.
It may be more costly but the skill and craftsmanship involved in high end carpentry is far superior, performed by a master woodworker who puts a great deal of talent and pride into what he creates with his hands. The result goes beyond mere construction into the realm of artistry.
I have been a carpenter for over 25 years, starting as an apprentice under my stepfather at the age of 15 and eventually going through the carpentrs union local 22 apprenticeship program. I have had the great privilege of working under a few great traditional Japanese carpenters while living as a practicing Zen monk for over 7 years at two different Zen temples in Northern California (jikoji zen center, Tassajara Zen mountain temple)
After leaving the monks life I was fortunate enough to land in san francisco working for Acapella Craftsmen for 8 years.
Learning Japanese carpentry and working at #1 high end finish carpentry companies in san francisco (Acapella Craftsmen) has been fundamental in the development of the carpenter I am today. I take pride in knowing with every project I do great or small the craftsmanship is of the highest level.
