Perma Treat did a good job of cleaning and sealing a tile bathroom shower which had hard water stains and mold issues. The bathroom tile and grout look so much better now and the cleaning is much easier. I would recommend this company as honest and trustworthy - getting the tile and grout cleaned and sealed has made a huge difference in appearance and ease of cleaning.

Very well, they were on time and did a good job. We can really notice the difference, but will have to continue to have the shower cleaned and sealed periodically.

The estimator (owner?) met with my husband and said it would be no problem. When the technician came out to do the work he knew there was no way he was going to be able to clean it with the steamer method they use/he had. He ended up leaving without doing the work. They would've needed to have had some type of abrasive cleaner or some other method. It still makes me mad every time I hear their commercials since it appears to be a bogus claim if they can't even clean tile - much less make it like new and seal it permanently! Don't bother.
Description of Work: Had them come out for an estimate to remove the sealant on our tile floor and clean it and then reseal. Also to clean the grout in our shower.

Response from Perma Treat Portland
When we went out to give an estimate for this shower, our estimator noticed that the customer (or somebody else) had put a topical sealer on the surface and they were told, it may or may not come off. We when out and did a test are to see if we could get it off, and it would not come off, so the customer said they did not want to have the work done. So we did not do the job and the customer was not charged. In some cases when these topical sealer are put on it is almost impossible to get them off. This is why we do not use them. We don't like walking away from a job, but in some cases there isn't much we can do.

The boss came out and gave me a quote and I scheduled the work. They sent a guy out to sand down the old sealer. He missed the edges and backsplashes so he had to do it over. The second time he did a little better, but still missed some spots. He had to do it again. I think he had to this about four times. The sealer was applied and after it dried I saw that old spots and marks from previous stains and usage were still there. I was very disappointed because the counter tops did not look any better. I was told that I could not get anything acidic on the counter or the Permatreat would be compromised. That meant vinegar or lemon and any other acid food. Good grief! No making salad dressing without a towel under the bottles! And they admitted they couldn't do anything about the marble in the bathroom. He should have told me that the old spots would remain before we scheduled the work. I feel my money went down the drain. I would not recommend Permatreat except for brand new kitchen countertops that have never been used.

In this case the customer had soap stone in her home and was not aware of the softness of the stone and that it can become etched very easy. We did not install the stone and did not apply whatever sealer was originally put on the stone. We were called in to try to fix an already messed up countertop. Soapstone is very soft and can be etched with everyday use and is not a good stone to put in a kitchen. With that being said we did the best we could to try to fix her problem. I am not sure what she was expecting, but there is nothing on the market that prevents etching on this stone. We did our very best to remove the old sealer that was put on the counters and we sealed it with a sealer that will now prevent any further staining. We can only do so much after a countertop has been neglected and are very sorry this customer does not think we did a very good job.

Perma Treat arrived on time for estimate appt, went through entire home, (1 year old) explained the process and what Perma-Treat could do for protecting our counters, floors and showers very completely, so we would know what to expect. Gave us estimate with explanation of service to be provided. We agreed to estimate, made appt for service, Perma-Treat arrived on time with 3 person crew, steam cleaned all surfaces and applied their Perma-Treat process. Reviewed all areas with us B-4 application, got our approval of cleaning, provided service and left our home cleaner then when they arrived. Surfaces are all sealed and look beautiful. My wife thought the tile grout was darker then when it was original, called Perma-Treat regarding this, They came back, looked at this and agreed to come back and re treat the grout ion the kitchen and hand lightened the grout lines at no extra cost, just a follow up service. "Thank you Perma-Treat." What a great Co. to do business with!

Description of Work: We did have Perma Treat out yesterday to clean and seal our granite counter tops. They were right on time (not an easy feat when you have to travel 75 miles). The counters look so much better and we got some good advice on taking care of them. The sealant is guaranteed for 10 years, which was a big draw for me. Nice job.

Great. Here it is one year later. I asked my housekeeper the other day what she did to make the granite so shiny, and quot; I just wiped itand quot;. The treatment done by this company looks great after a year! The shower is easy to clean. I am considering calling them and getting their treatment for mould formation in the shower. This is still happening of course, but is easily scrubbed off. If you look at my reviews, please note that in the first review I got the chart reversed, but later corrected it. Great treatment. I would recommend it.

Whoops, when I first did the review I was rating the chart backward. Sorry, PermaTreat! So I upgraded the and quot;Responsivenessand quot; because the owner of the organization called me to ask how they had failed, and they really hadn't. My error! Good service, on time, clear about the contract. I called for more information before I decided. The office was responsive. The workman was professional and on time. I thought it was expensive, but so far, the surfaces look good. There is a warranty on the work and if the surfaces remain as good as they look today I would say it will have been worth the money.

Description of Work: I purchased my 12 year old condo Aug 2012. Previous owner replaced kitchen countertops with 48 sf of granite I'm guessing 5-6 yrs ago. The granite looked dull & I like a shiny granite surface. Saw Perma Treat's TV add which as I recall talked about returning the shine & luster of hard surface countertops. That was the main reason I called them. When they initially came out on the 1st visit owner said they could probably restore some of the shine but may not be the shiny granite I had in my previous home, so I took a chance and agreed to the deep cleaning & sealing of the granite countertops & granite backsplashes, sealing of 2 bath tiled floors, and porcelain tiled master bath countertops. The Technician was prompt, knowledgeable & likeable. The bathroom tile grout minor stains didn't come out so he painted those grout lines and both bath floors look nice. Although the granite kitchen countertops looked clean and very smooth to the touch, there was no improvement to the granite sheen; it still looked dull. I blame myself for not doing my due dillegence on granite surfaces before I hired Perma Treat. Apparently the previous condo owner remodeled with "honed" granite which doesn't have a nice glossy shine. I had never heard of honed granite before. So now I'll have to hire a hard surface restorer come out to do a wet polish to the granite (a messy on-site job) & then have the granite resealed again. Overall I was satisfied with the work done on both bathrooms, but not satisfied with the results of the kitchen granite countertops because there was no improvement in the granite sheen. I also felt a little intimidated by having to fill out the Customer Satisfaction Inspection Checklist on the same date of the work performed with the Technician standing right there; although I checked "Yes" with satisfaction of work at the time, he & I knew I really wasn't satisified with how the kitchen counter tops came out. But the Technician did the best job that he could with what he had to work with.

We are sorry to hear of this member disappointment in our service. This member's granite is honed, which means the polish has been removed. Our process will not re-polish a honed granite and he was informed of that before he chose to hire us. We are more than happy to come out and re-seal his granite after he has it "wet-polished" at no cost (Please call us once completed to schedule). We strive for happy customers and want to do everything we can to make this customer happy.

Two years ago I had Jim Toma come out and seal my granite and at the time he worked for Dry Treat. A year later I started finding waterstains on my countertops. I called Dry Treat warranty and was told Jim Toma no longer worked for the company and they were in the middle of a new regional manager so take pictures and send them so an email he provided. I did as he asked, mine you this all took around 10 months and I was upset. I found Jim Toma's number and called him directly and he also said he now has his own company called "Perma Treat " I explained what I had been going thru with Dry Treat etc and he said he would honor the warranty even though he didn't have too. Not only did he send a great guy out to do the work he then gave me Perma Treats lifetime warranty so if in the future I have trouble there is someone locally not someone in another country. I just can't say enough good things about Jim Toma and his company Perma Treat.

Don't use Perma Treat they promis big and underserve!
Description of Work: Perma Treat Claims to seal and protect your tile and grout from stains and wet looks also to make your old tile look like new. They came, cleaned (well tried to), and sealed three times and each time the result was the same nothing looked like new, grout did not stay dry and it did not look one bit better or different. I asked for my money back even sent them a certified letter and they won't even call me back so I have no alternative but to file a small claims against them and or make a complaint to the builders board. I am making a complaint here so the rest of you with expectations of making your home look better and your cleaning easier - spend the money redoing your project and forget the promises from Perma Treat - their product does not work!

Response from Perma Treat Portland
We originally visited Member on 3/15/2010 to give her an estimate. We e-mailed a formal copy of the estimate that same day, 3/15/2010. The estimate lined out the scope of work which included stripping a topical sealer that needed to be stripped off of the tile and grout as well as cleaning and sealing her shower walls and floors, shower door, counter top and floor. Each area is line itemized with its own cost. It also notes specifically on our estimate that “Perma-Treat does not warrant nor guarantee the ability to remove stains before sealing”. The project was completed on 7/8/2010 to Member's satisfaction. Member paid us by check that same day after the work was completed and didn't mention any dissatisfaction with the work performed. One week later, Member called and said that she had some issues with two small areas in the grout lines of the main floor. In a good faith effort, we sent a technician out to take a look at the issue with the hopes that we could help her even though we had disclaimed that we don't warrant or guarantee the ability to remove stains before sealing. Our technician informed Member that the project was as good as possible. Still unsatisfied, Member called back again. This time we offered (and did) to send our Service Manager to her house to take one last look and see if there was anything more we could do. This occurred on 8/24/2010. Member informed our service manager that she there was a spot on the counter top that appeared to be taking on water, which we re-sealed free of charge. Member requested a meeting with an owner at her house, which our service manager called to schedule from from her house on 8/24/2010. The meeting was scheduled for 8/26/2010 at 2:00 PM. When we arrived at 2:00PM on 8/26/2010, there was no one home at the Member's residence. On 8/27/2010, Member called my office and demanded a refund of her money. She would not talk with me on the phone or allow us into her house to try to find a solution. Everytime Member has called our office to see if she was getting a refund, her call has been returned. Every time. She refuses to take our calls. In late October 2010, we received a demand letter asking that we not contact her. On 11/4/2010, Member called our office and threatened that if she didn't get a refund, she would take legal action. Member's call was returned that same day and a message was left asking her to call. The bottom line is this; We provided an estimate to Member. We perfomed the work outlined on the estimate. She was pleased with the work and paid us for the work performed. We specifically ask that our customers pay us after work is completed to make sure that they are satisfied. We have returned every phone call and have arrived for every scheduled meeting. We are still willing to visit Member's house to take a look at her issues and try to find a solution.

I feared I might be wasting money, but periodic resealing of the new granite countertops every 18 months or so would have been difficult for me, so I gave it a try. The work was done and paid for on two separate dates, and Robert appeared as scheduled on each date. Certain floor areas have light-colored tile and grouting, and the kitchen floor grouting in particular was hard to keep clean. Robert meticulously cleaned all surfaces including all grouting before applying the product which on both occasions took several hours. Now all treated surfaces can be cleaned with either a mixture of water and bleach and/or pre-moistened Multi Purpose Wipes. The process was expensive, but PERMA-TREAT provides a written 15-year warranty. The granite surfaces still look like new, and grouting remains unstained. I’ve waited to report this to ensure the positive results lasted, and for me the process has proven worth the cost. It was a pleasure working with this company.
Description of Work: Some time ago I hired PERMA-TREAT, a Tigard company, for a professional application of Dry-Treat impregnating sealer, a permanent sealer for granite, tiles, grouting, marble, slate and numerous other materials.
