A lot of legwork was done, and samples were shown to this prospect. Someone gave him a cheaper price which is fine, so I'm not sure why I'm getting a review, when he chose someone else. he also chose concrete over pavers which concrete always costs thisless. This is not apples to apples. The B in the cost column is not accurate. This needs to go away. I did no work for this person. This is messed up that this is still here. Take this off or I will be done with Angie's list!

Description of Work: All About Concrete removed and replaced 50' of sidewalk and three steps in concrete. They also removed the walkway to the house and redid it in pavers. | |Ron was very responsive when we contacted him for an estimate and came out promptly to see the job. There was a particular type of paver and installation pattern we wanted, and it was not a problem. We discussed various alternatives and prices, but there was no pressure. After we signed the contract we had to wait several weeks for the crew to get to us, but that was fine with us. | |The crew was great, nice guys and hard working, too. They were out there in the pouring rain and freezing cold but they were always careful and precise. I really liked that they broke up the old pavement by hand rather than with noisy jack hammers. They were considerate of our landscaping, too. Our place looks great and we get lots of compliments on the work.

The job went extremely well. Ron was very prompt and answered every question that we had. He was very professional and provided a superior work product. He was able to transform our side yard into an area that is inviting and usable. I would not hesitate to contact Ron in the future for any additional paver work that we may desire.

My experience started with Ron's prompt response to an e-mail inquiry. His quote was more than reasonable and he didn't even need to come out to give a quote. His communication was extremely fast and he had a very quick start date lined up. Ron and his crew worked through miserable weather and got the project done well within reason. They had one minor hiccup with a concrete truck breaking down, but Ron let me know right away what happened and that they would be back ASAP to pour, which they did. I normally work graveyard and sleep during the day. I trusted these guys to work in my yard while I slept and they were very quiet and didn't disturb me at all. I would highly recommend Ron & his crew - I know I will be using them again for further concrete projects.
Description of Work: I had a very simple project a 6' x 16' concrete slab for a dog kennel. The area had to be cleared, rock laid, and concrete framed and poured.

Ron and his crew were on time, on budget and over delivered with the quality and worksmanship for the paver patio they installed. The patio turned out better than expected. Ron is very professional in all aspects of his business. He provided me with a written quote the day he showed up, he started the project on time, he finished it on time and best of all he his crew did an outstanding job of cleaning up once the project was done. He and his crew were polite and courteous to my family and made sure the impact to my neighbors was minimal. Dirt was promptly removed, delivers were done quickly and materials were stacked out the way. I would highly recommend Ron!
Description of Work: All About Concrete installed ~ 400 square foot paver patio and seating wall. They excavated about 5 yrds of dirt by hand. They installed a small electrical chase at my request under the patio so I would have ability to add landscaping lights – I fully expected to put this in, but his crew did it for me. They transplanted a couple of plants that I asked them about and did a nice job of backfilling around the edge of the new patio.

Work was done while we and our potentially "helpful" dogs were gone. Returned home to find the work beautifully finished, perfect cleanup. Looked beautiful, and better than we had hoped. Price was reasonable for the work done. My only initial caveat was that Ron wanted 1/2 payment in advance, and before there was a firm start date. However he was reasonable negotiating the down payment, and got the work done about 3 weeks later. I had gotten several other estimates, and was impressed with Ron's competence and efficiency at our initial meeting. Ron and his crew proved to be artists. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

I originally called Ron out to do an estimate for stamped concrete. He explained the benefits of pavers and I was quickly sold on the idea. He provided an estimate the next day and was able to start work within a week. The work was done in a timely manner and he was very easy to talk to and was able to work with the design I sketched for him. We're very happy with the patio. Upon completion I asked him to address a couple minor issues and he was happy to do so. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I'm already planning on using Ron again for some additional work in the yard.
Description of Work: We had our existing concrete patio removed. Ron then created a 40' x 30' patio made out of pavers with a sitting wall for a perimeter and a stone firepit.

I met Ron Knapp (owner of All About Concrete and Masonry) after looking at other people’s comments about him and his company on Angie’s List. I contacted him, and he juggled his schedule to come over that day. I was having several concrete folks coming by to talk to them about removing our wood steps and putting in aggregate concrete steps; we also wanted our walkway removed and have new concrete installed there.
Description of Work: Ron Knapp, owner of All About Concrete and Masonry, came and gave us a bid to take out our wooden steps and put in aggregate concrete steps and a concrete walkway. He was very professional, and his bid was very specific ~ so we knew exactly what to expect; none of the others were so clear with their bids, and I was glad he let us know precisely what to expect with his work. "Remove old wood steps, haul away to the dump. Form up and pour four new steps that are close to the same size. The steps will be poured using 3500 psi concrete and have an exposed aggregate finish. Jack hammer out old concrete. There is 180 square feet of area. This is for the front walkway, left side to the basement steps and the right side to the front corner of the porch. Form up the front walk that will be 4' wide and the side paths that are 2' wide. The concrete will slope away from the front steps with a 2% slope. All concrete will be 3500 psi and have the same exposed finish. Compacted gravel will be installed under all slabs."

Ron came almost immediately after we called him for an estimate on replacing our unsightly gravel paths around our house with pavers or concrete. He convinced us that pavers was the best way to go and promptly e-mailed us an estimate that evening. We also obtained estimates from others companies. Ron's bid was very competitive and because we like him when we met him we selected him to do the work. He arrived as scheduled and quickly and efficiently performed the work with his helper. Ron was very easy to work with and was willing to make little changes without complaint. The whole process went very quickly and we could not be more pleased with the results. The paver paths are just beautiful and a pleasure to look at and walk on. We are so glad we picked Ron to do the work and we would recommend him highly.

They didn't do what we asked them to. My husband was also a Mason, and he asked the guy to put more steel in the post for the mailbox. The guy didn't do it. He said he would do it later and then he never did it. Not that the mailbox post is going to fall over, but he just didn't do what we asked him to do. He was very personable. He had all the necessary contracts and stuff like that. He just thought that he knew more than we did, and in this case, we actually probably knew more than he did. I thought his pricing was okay. Where he widened the front walk, it's not smooth where the edge of the grass is. Responsiveness was good and promptness was excellent.

The rebar was placed in the footing as asked but missed one piece. I was hesitant to add too much rebar in case a car hit the mailbox and people were severely hurt. There are liability issues with an individual hitting your property and getting hurt. I had expressed this with the customer. I was proud of the final product, as anyone can see it on my website. My number one concern with any customers is to be sure they are happy with everything. I am a bit set back by her response as the day I left the site, all was great.

It was all very easy and all very professional. We knew of Ron because he had just completed a beautiful paver driveway at a neighbors house and our contractor had also heard of Ron. He was prompt, he was very respectful of our house and our schedule and he made it easy to understand the steps he was going to take. before leaving we asked Ron to quote us on a couple other potential jobs. That's probably the best compliment you give. All in all we were very satisfied and would use Ron again.
Description of Work: We were experiencing some moisture seeping into our house and starting to rot out baseboards in our family room. After consulting with our "go-to" remodeling contractor it was decided that we needed to contact a masonry expert. Ron visited our home and suggested that we remove a few feet of pavers on our patio, dig down to the foundation and determine the problem. Ron and an associate dug to the bottom, neatly removed and sorted the pavers so they would go back in correctly, found a small broken pipe, discovered no flaws in the foundation and proceeded to waterproof the foundation. Ron then filled and leveled the hole and returned the pavers to their starting position. He also took some time to level out a few pavers from a previous contractors work and then washed, sanded and cleaned our mossy patio and it looks like new again.

The initial estimate had more detail than bids from other companies and a better price. Ron took time to talk through details to make sure the scope of the project was mutually understood. As work progressed, we requested a few changes. Ron provided his opinions and recommendations to elaborate our ideas. Work progressed on schedule with the exception of a couple weather delays. As the project got close to completion, Ron made sure that every detail was to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Upper retaining wall - 90' x 4' with stairs down to 2nd level of patio Lower retaining wall - 25' x 4' Upper patio - Approx 1200 sq ft - Pavers with 10 ft 'circle kit' Lower patio - Approx 150 sq ft - Pavers Fire pit - 4' inner diameter, 6' outer diameter, 18" high Bench - 20' long 18" high. Same blocks and caps as fire pit. Ron did a great job through every phase of the project. Extremely helpful in providing options, suggestions, recommendations, and refining our initial design. He kept to his schedule and cost commitments. Ron was flexible as we modified, finalized a few details during the course of the project. Other work done included relocating sprinklers, moving a few large shrubs. Great quality and a pleasure to work with!

Ron did a great job, was very professional and we are very pleased with the results. When he bid our driveway replacement, he convinced me to go with pavers. I am so glad I did. Not only do they look so much better, but they aren't slippery like the concrete, best of all the water runs through them instead of running off. A great investment in my home. Even when I wanted to change the design somewhat, no problem, it is just the way I wanted it. Since the driveway we have had him pour a new patio, love it! And now are saving the have him replace our retaining wall that was not put in correctly. I would recommend his work 100%. He does it right and he does it well.

On Time, within Budget, and BEAUTIFUL! Ron delivered more than my wife and I could have expected. If you are looking for someone to deliver a superior product at a competitive price while avoiding high pressure sales, All About Concrete and Masonry is hands down the best company you can choose for anything to do with driveways, patios, concrete, or even masonry work. If you want to know why I am so impressed with Ron Knapp (owner) keep reading. We have a small backyard (800 sq feet total) that had a concrete slab and a patch of grass that, because of poor drainage turned to mud every time it rained. Wanting to make the space more functional my wife and I had talked about putting pavers down for some years but have always feared of the cost and work involved (I?m a pretty accomplished do it yourselfer) Being the project kept getting pushed off my wife suggested (insisted) I hire someone. After attending the home and garden show and talking with a few landscapers in my area I was frustrated. Half of them seemed annoyed I didn?t know exactly what I wanted and the other half didn?t seem interested in incorporating my ideas. While it may sound dramatic, I was beginning to lose hope and going to attempt to tackle the job myself. Discussing my upcoming project with a co-worker over lunch, she mentioned a great experience she had getting a driveway done in their house in Tualatin and gave me the number to a guy in Canby. I was hesitant to call being I live in Hillsboro, knowing many contractors aren't willing to travel clear across town. To my wife persistence I called. Ron Knapp (the owner) was happy to swing by my house; he walked around the space and asked how I would be using it, that was refreshing, someone interested in giving a product that would fit my needs. My wife and I like to entertain so we needed a space that could accommodate large parties without getting all muddy in the grass. He discussed some ideas he had, asked a few more questions and set up a second meeting. When he returned he had a few sketches of what could be done at all different price points, there was no pressure to buy the most expensive or most elaborate layout, but he focused on what we needed. While I was impressed with his professionalism and design process I was blown away by the quality of his work. I took off work early one day to watch him tear out the grass (I like watching tractors, I?m still a kid at heart) I could tell he was someone who had been doing this for years, the precision and speed he worked at was amazing, I was glued to the window. Everything was going perfectly, the space was ready to lay pavers and pour the stairs. The evening before he was to pour the stairs my wife said, ?You know, wouldn?t it look great if we could have pavers on the stairs instead of just concrete?? I reluctantly picked up the phone, not wanting to change plan the day before he was set to do work. Again, Ron was pleasant to work with, not concerned about the change and said ?I think that?ll look real good?. Not only was he not frustrated about the change he liked the idea?I was really beginning to like this guy. The next day Ron made the paver steps and I must admit, my wife was right, they looked really good. She said he took the time to ensure each stone was precisely level, tapping and nudging until they were perfect. Having seen steps laid with less care I am thankful he took the time and did it right. After the stairs were in and the ground was level laying the rest of the pavers seemed to be a breeze, Ron worked with a machine like precision and laid the 800 sq feet in no time. When the job was done, Ron walked the whole yard with me, making sure I was happy with the final product. As much as I tried and as close as I looked I couldn?t find anything I would change, all the lines were straight and had a perfect pitch (yah, I got out my level to check). Before he left he didn?t hand me a stack of business cards and ask my to do his marketing for him, he shook my hand, thanked me for my business and encouraged me to call if I had any questions or concerns about the patio or if I ever wanted to complete any of the add on products we had discussed earlier (I am strongly considering the outdoor pizza oven) From the first handshake to the last I was impressed with the craftsmanship and professionalism of Ron and would recommend his services to anyone.
