Description of Work: First I want to say if you own a LG refrigerator or stove plan to spend more on repairs and know you will have few repair service options - most won't work on them. Bought my LG August 2012 and in April 2014 it started making terrible, loud grinding noises from the freezer and both compartments barely kept food cold. I researched online to learn what might cause such a problem and learned it might just be a clogged vent that causes the fan to quit functioning. I called many appliance services and most won't work on LG's. High Desert sent someone out the next day and he defrosted the freezer vents and it started working perfectly. He suggested I needed to replace the motor board in the back for a whopping $448.00 plus the reasonable 130.00 service call totaling: 578.00. My LG cost under 700.00 when purchased in 2012 so I declined. Asked since it's now working why do I need to replace this part and he explained because it would fail again. + -1 moreThis service call left me conflicted about using High Desert again. The Good News: They scheduled an appointment quickly (for 2 days later). Their technician showed up early, diagnosed the problem, had the part on hand, and fixed the unit in less than an hour. If that were the whole story I'd use them again in a heartbeat. The Bad News: Their pricing. Here's the breakdown. $65 to come to the house and diagnose the problem. $90 for the replacement heating element. A separate $121 charge for labor to install the new part and clean the dryer vent. The technician was on site for a little less than an hour...half an hour to diagnose the problem and half an hour to fix it...making their effective labor cost nearly $200 an hour. Ouch. I don't have a lot of experience with appliance service companies...but next time I'll probably call around looking for a better deal.

The price was very high, "Because of the great distance (outside our usual service area)" despite that the job was scheduled to allow the technician to do two jobs that were in the same general vicinity. The technician did the exact specified job, but did not fix a related problem: One burner failed to ignite correctly. We had to call a warranty service company who sent a technician. He simply cleaned the flame spreader, something that I would have expected the High Desert technician to correctly diagnose and do. I admit, I didn't know to do it.
