We purchased cabinets for our new kitchen and bathrooms from Larry and Angel Haynie of Big Larry Designs. I have contracted with multitude of vendors throughout my 35 years of general contracting and remodeling and have never felt compelled to write a bad review, this being my first bad review. Big Larry Designs & the Haynie’s are, by far, the worst vendor/owners I have ever done business with. That said, I do take some responsibility for the issues, as I broke my own #1 rule: NEVER, NEVER, EVER, pay a vendor in full for their product prior to delivery, especially when that product is delivered months out. A deposit is fine, full payment is a HUGE mistake. A full payment requirement puts the buyer at a distinct disadvantage when problems arise, and problems will arise. A paid in full vendor has no “skin in the game” to communicate, keep commitments, and solve issues.
Description of Work: Big Larry Designs, according to their website, requires a nonrefundable design fee of $500. We never paid this fee, it wasn’t discussed. You don’t need to pay this design fee to any vendor as there are plenty of cabinet companies that will help you. At the time of our order, the full payment issue was discussed at length. Larry convinced me that with his years of cabinet experience, his integrity, his commitment, and his problem solving abilities, any problems will not be an issue. After completion of our order, communication was far less than desirable, delivery & install commitments were not kept, and I had to solve the problems. I should have stood firm on rule #1, as there was no help from the Haynie’s. Why, because they were paid in full and had no risk, nothing to lose. They took such great care of us! Always answered my questions, took care of all the things, listened to what was most important to us and made that happen within our budget. We had an odd space and they completely reconfigured our very small kitchen into something big, beautiful, and functional.

Larry and Angel were amazing and so easy to work with! Angel designed a complete kitchen that added space and made it flow so much better as well as designed our new bathrooms and closets! We purchased all cabinets, counter tops, hardware and closet package from Big Larry Designs and everything went so smooth from the beginning to the end. Both of them had a way of making us feel so welcome and comfortable in their show room and they took so much time with us at each meeting. We would highly recommend working with Larry and Angel and we will always use them for future remodels and builds!
