Upon original contact with (Member Name), she requested an estimate for a deep clean of her home over the phone, which I told her would vary, as each house was different, but if she could describe the scope of work, I could giver her a ballpark figure- she described the work needed, including DUSTING of walls, so I gave her a rough estimate, asking specifically how many rooms had ceilings and walls that were wood and in need of dusting. We agreed to schedule a time to meet for a more precise bid, and scheduled for a time when I had a crew in her area. Upon entering the home, I could barely breathe- there were cigarettes still buring in ashtrays in multiple rooms of the home. During the walk through, I made a list of things I found that needed attention in addition to the usual things, and (Member Name) pointed out the walls and ceilings which she wanted cleaned – they were covered in black tar and nicotine, not dust. I described our process for dusting wood walls, and let her know I was unsure if it would work on her drywall, as this WAS NOT DUST but years of smoke damage. I told here we would do our best, and scrub and wipe her walls with bleach and degreaser, and that it would help, especially with the smell, but would not be perfect. Windows were NOT included in the bid, and were NEVER discussed, neither were the 2 sets of blinds on the sliders, even though she accompanied me around the home, and we made the list together. She was thrilled with her bid of $300, and agreed to have the crew out later in the day. There was plenty of work to warrant the bid, as the house was grimy and greasy, and definately in need of a deep clean, it would take hours alone to scrub the walls. I also made it clear that we had 2 pregnant crew members, and that she needed to refrain from smoking while my crew cleaned, and to please open windows until they got there as to air out the house. My crew of 4 showed up and went over the list with (Member Name), completed their work in just under 4 hrs ( 3 hrs 45 minutes, 15 man hrs total), and ALL of them did a walk through WITH (Member Name) upon completion, as is standard practice. She praised their work, said she was thrilled with the results, and that in regards to the walls, “anything was better than what it was”, and she was completely satisfied with all work performed. She was asked at least 4 times about the ceilings (once in each room), and declared they “looked great!” She even specifically pointed out how impressed she was with the master bathroom and kitchen, as they had gotten the smoke residue off of her white cabinets in bathroom, and the grease off the kitchen walls. They even recleaned a portion of one room's ceiling without being asked, as the crew leader was not quite happy with it!! They left the job feeling they had performed well. I received a call from (Member Name) about a week later, saying she was completely unhappy with her clean- when I asked her to please give details, she began citing things that were never on the work list. I tried to reason with her, offered to have the few things she listed added to the next clean, and she became unreasonable, adding more falsities to the claim. I agreed to have the crew out again at a time that was convenient for her, and upon looking at her requested date, found the schedule to be booked. I called her a week in advance to reschedule, and never heard back until the day of the appointment, when she called irrate, claiming to not have recieved the message. It was then I told her I refused to deal with her. I honestly will NOT send my crew back out to her house, no matter what claims she files against us, as upon speaking to my crew, found that she and her husband sat outside chain smoking with all the doors and windows open the whole time, filling the home with cigarrette smoke, creating unsafe work conditions for them, especially those that are pregnant. If this were a reasonable situation, I would be happy to resolve it. It is not a reasonable situation, and my suggestion is that she stop smoking in her home and repaint with KILLS.
