Phil's Fireplace

It was great. Easy to schedule, on-time. When he showed up, very nice and courteous, although I just got the $99 special, he was also able to fix the pilot light which was due to spider web. He also replaced the embers and cleaned it up. All ready for this winter!

Every thing went beautifully. He was pleasant, informative, laughed at our jokes and was very clean. He removed his shoes at the door and spread 2 tarps in front of the fireplace to keep our carpets clean. He is one of the few fireplace services that will paint the firebox without an extra fee.

Provider was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and did a great job. Our fireplace looks great and works!

I got a gas insert last year and we used it almost every day last winter. Phil came out to check it out using an Angies List Deal. He was here around an hour. He was quick to schedule me. He called me today to let me know exactly what time he'd be here. He offered me lots of tips and said it's a good idea to call him or someone like him before purchasing a gas insert. Ken was thorough, professional and friendly. I will use his services again!

I bought a gas fireplace cleanup package. I negligently missed our first appointment but Phil cheerfully rescheduled to Labor Day. He arrived on time, removed his shoes and started on my gas fireplace which has not been serviced in many years. I asked about upgrades or other fixes that would have given him an upsell opportunity but he assured me my old fireplace is adequate. Phil was very friendly, personable and efficient. He cleaned up after the job completely. He finished in an hour and the fireplace looks like new. I will use Phil again with no hesitation. I highly recommend him.

Perfect experience! My wife and I had just started to consider having our gas fireplace service before it got cold again and received a Big Deal offer. After checking the reviews of this company we purchased it and he was out 2 days later. Very nice gentlemen - knew what he was doing, gave me some pointers on how to care for the unit - and made the fireplace run and look better than it has in a while. Work came with a year warranty - great piece of mind. Would recommend without hesitation and will use again at our next cleaning.

Phil was very punctual and professional. He explained all the work he was doing and provided tips to keep the fireplace performing at its best. He explained and corrected issues that may have existed from the date of installation. He was very careful not go get any paint, soot or dirt on the surrounding woodwork and carpeting. .I was very pleased from beginning to end of this service. He arrived a few minutes early (always a bonus). He brought in his tools and set about servicing my gas fireplace.(Which had never been serviced since I have owned the home) While he was working he explained to me what he was doing and why. I had some questions, which he answered. He fixed something for me that I didn't know needed to be fixed and explained how to optimize my system. I learned a lot about my fireplace today. When my husband arrived home, he commented on how much nicer the fireplace looked. Would absolutely call him again.

Friendly, honest, thorough service, including research on questions we had about the fireplace. While he was a bit behind schedule, he called to let us know and then did a terrific job...including cleaning the glass, the logs and under the insert. We expect to use Phil regularly to keep our fireplace tuned up and lovely.

Phil was right on time and did a very thorough job. He was polite and courteous. He showed me how to light the pilot light, take the fireplace apart to clean the glass in the future, and he provides a one year warranty.

I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER JOB OR KINDER INDIVIDUAL TO DO THE SERVICE MAINTENANCE ON MY GAS FIREPLACE. DO NOT HESITATE TO USE PHILS FIREPLACE SERVICE. I WILL BE USING HIM AGAIN NEXT YEAR. The back of the fireplace had worn off and he painted it back black. There was a small place where the rocks had fallen through the grate and he cleaned that out. Scrubbed the film off the glass really well. Wiped down everything, vacuumed up and cleaned up after himself. He replaced the rock wool. He showed up when he said he would, he was actually few minutes early. He is the nicest most helpful man in the world. Very professional, very personable, you can tell he loves his job. Provides a one year warranty on his work, excluding parts. He showed me how to turn the pilot light on and off. It looks like a brand new fireplace has been installed. The price was very reasonable, I would definitely use him and again and recommend him to other people.

Our fireplace in the bedroom had a bad smell for a couple of days. We called Phil for help. Phil came out the next day. He identified the source of the bad smell to be a smelting hanger! It must be put inside by my young kid. Phil removed the logs and did a thorough cleaning of the fireplace. He used a big mat to keep the area free of mess. Our fireplace has never been so clean! I'm very satisfied with his work and asked him to inspect and clean up our family room fireplace as well. Even better, the service carries one year labor warranty! Thank you, Phil!

It went really great. Phil was very flexible as my schedule changed at the last minute. He did an excellent job and had both of them in top shape within a short period of time. I will absolutely call him again, but I won't wait so long in between service calls.

I couldn't be happier for the service provided by Phil. He was on time (actually early), courteous, and tuned up my fireplace to look like new. He painted the inside which was a nice extra which really made the difference. I am set for the winter, know my fireplace is in good working order and can enjoy the aesthetics even more than before. Phil came out as scheduled. He inspected, adjusted, and totally cleaned (including glass) our fireplace. He also added new embers. Fireplace looks great, even the flames look better! Before leaving he made sure I knew how to turn off the gas supply and adjust the flame. Glad we now have a "fireplace guy"!

Phil was an amazing find! What a joy to meet someone who has such an exceptional work ethic and attention to detail. He serviced our fireplace as if it were his own. His professionalism and knowledge of what he does was very clear from the beginning. He spent time making sure the insides of the fireplace were free of any dust and cleaned the glass so it was spotless. He even took the fireplace grate outside and spray painted it to look brand new. He added extra embers to give the fire extra glow! Phil made sure we as homeowners knew how to adjust the fan speed and turn off the pilot light. Great service! We gave Phil the model of our existing gas fireplace on phone for quote on fireplace fan. We agreed on price and scheduled an appointment for installation. Phil arrived on-time. Friendly and courteous to provide plentiful work mats, so our carpet won't get dirty. He installed the fan. Plus, Phil went the extra mile to clean our fireplace glass and add extra embers to make it look nicer. He sent in our fan warranty for us. Made sure we knew if anything sounded strange, call him because fan is under warranty for 1 year. He will come to check at no cost. A few months later, there seemed to be a glitch and we called Phil. He came right away and checked. Fixed the problem at no cost to us. We appreciated Phil's responsiveness and excellent customer service. Would contact him again for future work.

Phil (LongTran) got all the information he needed about the pilot light when I first called him about pilot light going off. He called all over Portland for the part, got it, and came over to do the repair and service the 12-year old gas fireplace. (Angie's wanted to use our billing address in another state which is different than our townhouse address; so we put in his location in Beaverton) He was very clean, professional, and enthusiastic. Phil correctly diagnosed the problem with the pilot light and put in the right part at a very reasonable cost (basically he did not charge us for the time to repair but for the part). He then cleaned/serviced the chemical buildup on the burners, cleaned the fireplace, painted the back wall to make it look new, and gave us some maintenance and cleaning tips We appreciate how Phil carefully regulated the gas flow and heat intensity to just the right temperature because it had always burned way too hot as the careless builder/developer had left it to flow/burn at very high temperatures. (Note: Angie's List wanted to use our Angie's List billing address in another state for the repair/service site. But this address is different than our townhouse address in Yamhill County/Newberg; so we put in Phil's location in Beaverton to be more accurate for geography reasons). We showed Phil some wires and asked if they needed to be replaced; he could have over-charged us with that item; but he said it was not necessary or needed. Phil gets 5-stars out of 5. He's definitely 2-thumbs up, specially with his service warranty. He's a craftsman who backs up his work and word.

We recently moved into this house. The gas fireplace, approx 20 yrs old seemed to work but was so dirty and dusty you couldn't even see into the fireplace. I've cleaned these myself in our previous house so I took off the glass and proceeded to clean it myself. I couldn't get all the junk off the glass but felt it was good enough. After I put it back together, I couldn't get the fireplace to turn on. Oops, figured I broke something. Phil came in a few days later with his assistant. He figured out what was wrong with the fireplace, some sensor wasn't giving off or measuring enough heat, or gas or something like that ( I didn't break it afterall!). He fixed that, they cleaned everything(I mean really cleaned it), and added more rocks/embers to make it look better. He spent more time here than he charged me for and reminded me that the work is guaranteed for a year, meaning he'd come back and fix anything related to the fireplace for a year, for free! I highly recommend Phil's Fireplace.

It went great. he was very personable and helpful and included in the price was a year of warranty - if I have any questions or need anything I can just call him. He provided me with the name of the brand I have and he did not try to sell me anything.I will use him again and did discuss converting a bar b que to gas from propane. He said he could run the gas lines as well as do the conversion. He said call him when I picked a brand of bar b que and he would let know if it would be a good brand to do a conversion.

Our gas fireplace stopped working so we consulted Angie's list for a couple of repairmen. I requested cost estimates from three who received good reviews. Two responded, but Phil was the only one who e-mailed me and called me to obtain further details. He came out and visited within two days of my calling him, assessed the problem, and determined the need to acquire a part to complete the repair. Phil returned in three days, replaced the part, thoroughly cleaned the fireplace, touched up some areas where the paint had peeled, replaced some "cinders," and had the fireplace in full working order within 30 minutes. Phil charged for only one visit and the cost of the part. Phil clearly loves his work and enjoys serving his customers. He is respectful of people's time (he called when he was unavoidably detained at another job, causing him to be a little late), and property (he removed his shoes upon entering the property, laid down a drop cloth on which he place the parts, and vacuumed meticulously after completion of the job). He provides a 1 year warranty on his labor and encouraged us to call if we had any questions regarding the fireplace. In all respects, he exceeded our expectations and we'd recommend him for any work you might require for your gas fireplace.

I called Phil's Fireplace because I couldn't remember our previous service company and was delighted with our experience. They came out to do the repair and maintenance within 24 hours. They came exactly on time and were professional and polite. After a thorough examination and repair, our fireplaces have never looked so good. We are 110% satisfied and really like the fact the the work is guaranteed for a year. I wish more companies were this pleasant to deal with.
