Northwest Heating and Cooling

Northwest Heating & Cooling is a terrific company. They did an outstanding job of adding central air conditioning to my existing system. I highly recommend them for taking care of any heating or cooling needs.

He's great. He was more thorough and took more time than any of the other guys that came out.

We called them several times before they finally returned our call. When they did return our call they said they would be at my Moms house at 9:00 am. on Monday. My husband had to miss work to meet them at my Mom's house,he was there promptly at 9:00 a.m. They finally called at 9:15 and said their current call would take them another 15 minutes at least and then they would proceed to Mom's. It is now 9:44 a.m. and they still not have arrived. This was a huge waste of my husband's time, I wish they would have called to say they were going to be late before 9;15, he could have gone into work and then zipped over when they finally arrived which was 10:00 a.m. My husband says: Guy was good, upbeat, cheerful. Fixed the leak quickly and went to work crafting a pipe for the water heater – just happened to have materials in his truck that worked so saved a trip and extended time. Finished pretty quickly (45minutes) minimal so the labor was 112 and parts were 14.25 (I’m not looking at the receipt). Total was $126.25. Mom paid check because they charge more (merchant service fee) for use of CCard. The overflow pipe looks decent, leak is fixed. I would use them again. Left the place clean. Big complaint was the late arrival and no call to let us know till 15 minutes after their agreed upon arrival time.

My gas furnace would occasionally not light and also would shut off in mid cycle. I was prepared for major repair and expense but the Northwest guy told me to change the filter which solved the shut off problem.

Sometime during the night of 2-8-2014 our furnace stopped working. I called the furnace repair that we had used in the past and left a message. They never called back. Then, my wife found Northwest Heating and Cooling and I left a message about the problem we were having. Jerry Heckman called back and indicated that he would not be able to make it out due to the snow and icy conditions. And, he was very, very apologetic that he could not make it. But, what he did next was to suggest how I might resolve the problem myself. He had me take photos of the furnace and email them to him. Next, while referencing the photos I had emailed, he called me back and talked me through how to address what he thought might be the problem. After performing everything as instructed, the furnace still did not work. So, I scheduled an appointment with Jerry for the very next day Monday 2-9-2014, even though his schedule was already fully booked. Keep in mind that Jerry took a good portion of his Sunday morning to assist me with no expectation of payment. He was just interested in providing assistance. If he was willing to provide the type of service he did for free, I can only imagine the type of paid service I will receive. I strongly recommend Jerry Heckman of Northwest Heating and Cooling. I liked the he worked really hard. He just did what we needed to get things up and running. He is extremely friendly and gave us tips on maintenance. He was fantastic. He told us what needed to be done because it had been awhile since we have even used the thing in it. It was a little embarrassing, but he was extremely nice about that. He made us not feel uncomfortable. Our heaters are in a difficult place to get to in the attic, and it is quite messy up there. He ended up cleaning part of it. He went above and beyond. I would use them again and I would highly recommend them also.

Jerry and Tony were great. The furnace for two of our church's preschool classrooms went out on a Monday morning. The company we have used for years scheduled us for a week from the FOLLOWING FRIDAY! Almost two week. I called Jerry late Monday afternoon, and although he was slammed with calls, he asked me to call back at 10AM the next day and he would try to find a place in the schedule. I did, and he sent Tony over. The repair was completed and the heat was back on for the preschoolers by Noon. Tony was very professional, the price was reasonable, and the company that had our business for many years may never hear from us again.

Our furnace stopped working sometime previous day of service. We had arrived home late. Temp outside 25 degrees temp inside 52 degrees. We waited until following morning to call a service provider. I called sever HVAC companies around the area, everyone was booked helping people with emergencies etc. I called this company, Jerry answered. He was on his way to a job near me and said he would stop if I wanted him too, I did. He stopped (within 10 minutes of my call), quickly identified the problem. He had to go get a part. His total diagnostic time, the repair including parts run was about 2 hours. He charged me 1.25 hrs labor and the cost of the part. Jerry is an honest man. Jerry was very, very, nice, efficient and helpful in this 20 degree weather. He was more than fair, in his labor price. He originally thought it was a more expensive part but more trouble shooting indicated a lesser expensive part had gone bad. He did a quick parts run for it, returned and finished the job. So he came to my home out of the goodness of his heart. He had already had a full schedule, but he was close. He diagnosed the problem had to make a parts run, returned and repaired. He did advise me that the part that failed was probably due to poor air flow because of dirty filter. He said I should change them no less than twice a year ideally every four months.

I needed a Gas Furnace service and cleaning for my Beaverton house. I was under a time constraint and needed the work done quickly. I talked to Jerry and he was able to fit me in the next morning. Tony was the tech and did the work quickly and professionally. The time from my call to the time of the work being done was impressive.

I called NW Heating and Cooling on Thursday and they repaired my AC on Friday. They diagnosed the problem quickly and immediately left to get the necessary part, then returned within the hour to get the job done. They were prompt and very professional. As for cost, I have never had to replace a circuit board on an AC unit, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it seemed reasonable to me. I will definitely use this company for all my future heating and cooling needs.

The rep offered several clear options for improving the heating system in our 1960 home. We ended up purchasing a new gas furnace from this company. A rep came to our home three times, for estimates, installations, and inspections, and every time they were punctual and professional. They were friendly and cleaned up after themselves.

I liked the service tech but I didn't like the fact that I had to replace an expensive part on my furnace that was worth the unit. I don't know if that had to do with their company. They were timely and responsive but they may be a little on the pricey side. I would use them again only because they know the system otherwise it would have probably been somebody else if it wasn't for the fact that they were the ones that installed the system.

Furnace stopped working on a Friday evening. Went to Angies List to find a 24 hr service company. NW Heating and Cooling was the closest with 24hr service listed as a Yes. Called and left a message. No call back Friday night or any followup days later. Obviously 24 hr service is not true. The second company I called responded immediately and the furnace was fixed that night.

Jerry and co were great. We knew when we bought our house that the furnace was on it's last legs. It was original to our 1970-built house, and over the last few months had to be manually lit. Fearing thatI'd needed a new one, I looked around on Angie's and noticed that their reviews were positive and they were relatively small (I wanted to deal with a smaller, local business). John (I think that was his name) came over and showed me that there was a big hole in my furnace and it was probably leaking carbon monoxide into the house. He said that basically there was no fixing the current furnace, really, and that it was actually dangerous. I believed him, it was a hunk of junk. He assessed that on a Friday and was over Monday and installed the new one enough to get the heat going. On Tuesday him and another guy finished the duct work. In all, they were very friendly, professional and clean. I would highly recommend them.

It went great! The gentleman came over, on time. He assessed the situation, pulled out the blower and confirmed it was failing. It was very obvious. He then pulled out the motor and it was clear the shaft was moving a lot, also in bad shape. I asked him to replace both ( and gt; 11 years old). He explained that he doesn't carry these on the truck and that they were in stock as the parts store. He picked them up, drove back the same afternoon and installed them. We were all set and the HVAC is working great. We have excellent airflow now! :)

I called Jerry and he returned my call within the hour. He was as nice as can be! He sent a guy over first thing the next morning. The guy looked at my system thoroughly and finally had to ask when was the last time I changed the battery in the thermometer. It had been 2 years, so we put in a new one and it worked! I felt pretty dumb about it, but he assured me it was no big deal, happens all the time. He could have charged me for his time, but he didn't. I just wish I could remember his name because he and Jerry were both so friendly and honest that I want people to know about them. I will be using only them when I need my furnace tune-ups and any other furnace needs from now on. It's a refreshing feeling to find a company like this one that makes you feel you can trust they won't rip you off or do spotty work. Thank you NW Heating and Cooling!

I called early Friday morning, 10/07/2011, stating that our furnace fan would turn on but no heat was coming out. Jerry responded within the hour and was very apologetic that his schedule was full and he wouldn't be able to come out that day. He said he would call if he had a cancellation but, otherwise, would fit me in on Saturday at 2:00. Our furnace is almost 20 yrs. old so I was expecting to hear that we would have to replace our furnace for thousands of dollars. Jerry called at 11:00 am on Saturday and said he was on his way. He said our furnace was old but no need to replace it at this time. He replaced the igniter and everything worked fine after that. We were very pleased with the entire experience unlike the last time was had to have our furnace serviced. We will definitely recommend Northwest Heating and Cooling to anyone with heating or air conditioning problems. Thank you, Jerry.

When I called, he was very open and honest that he could meet the next day. He was more worried than I was about when he could visit. I appreciate the honesty and the open and frank discussion. His worker came to my house the next day. He called first to let me know he was on his way and arrived shortly after the call. He very quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired my AC. The whole visit took less than an hour. He was a pleasant man to talk to and did a high quality job. If I have problems again, I'll call Northwest Heating and Cooling first.

They charged me only $75. We had a guy from another company who told us that we need to replace our whole furnace within a year. Someone in our neighborhood referred us to Northwest Heating and Cooling, and the guy from this company told that we need not replace the furnace and just had to replace a unit. I was impressed because I was told that I need to replace the whole furnace. I was impressed that he was not trying to take more money from me. He showed me what he was talking about. Their price was lower than the other companies. I rate them high overall.

As a first-time homeowner who is new to the area, I had no idea who to call for help. I called Jerry, and he immediately came out to fix the problems. He is very honest, responsive, and kind. I would absolutely recommend him without hesitation.

Jerry is fantastic! He went over my entire heating system in the atic and the heat pump outside. He came back with no issues at all and stated all looked very good and we set up my next service review in a year! Jerry is professional, friendly and respectful. Reading other reviews of more serious work by this company will for sure have me calling Jerry back should the need arrise.

They were very professional, punctual and reasonably priced. When I called them I thought it would take a long time for them to come out and do the work but they came immediately.

I was satisfied with their service. There was nothing in particular that stood out to me about them. The person who came out seemed competent and solved the problem. There was a clog in the line and so there wasn’t anything major. The quality of their work was good. I don’t recall the price that I paid. They came right away to get the job done. Their professionalism was very good. I would use their services in the future too.

I purchased a mini ductless heat pump online to save the huge mark-up the HVAC companies charge. Since I only needed the installation (plus all the associated installation parts), despite the slow economy most all the local HVAC companies refused to install it (including Jacobs that had installed my $15,000 gas furnace/ac system a few years ago). I found this company by chance from another website's reviews, but nothing was written up on Angies List. I found out the reason is this guy does primarily industrial/commercial installations and repairs. He is the one the big companies around Oregon call when they need HVAC work. He is a one man operation and has a pretty busy schedule. However he is one of the nicest people you will meet, as honest as they get, and is certainly willing to help out residential customers. He was more than happy to install my ductless system, and the job was perfect. Since he works on such a wide range range of commercial equipment, my project was pretty easy for him. I think he is probably a mechanical genius or at least very gifted wih that kind of stuff. He did say he would like to do more residential jobs including routine service calls, and would do the yearly tune-ups for my furnace and ac unit (Jacobs refusal cost them my business). He is even coming back next week to work on my gas kitchen range! This is the type of guy you wish all contractors were like, but could never find. The mini ductless systems are very popular globally, and in the last few years have started becoming more popular in the US. These HVAC companies that refuse business because customers are trying to save money by purchasing online are shooting themselves in the foot. The internet is here to stay, so get over it.
